Imus loyalist James Brady writing for Forbes takes a look at the Imus comeback by the numbers. Brady with a little help from WABC Suit – Phil Boyce…
ChanX CliffsNotes
Talking Up Imus
BY JAMES BRADY“We’ve got him on about 40 stations now,” said Boyce. “The old show (the one based on WFAN) claimed about 62, but we’ve only been able to confirm 47.
Ratings from February are good. In the 12-plus category, he’s No. 3 in morning drive, behind WINS at 6.8 and ZOO100 at 5.7, with Imus in the Morning at 5.6.”
…those ratings that placed Imus at No. 3, WFAN’s new morning drive team was in 19th place in the count at a 2.3
…what about the advertising? “It’s coming in,” said Phil, “and we’re getting much higher rates, and we’re getting closer to sellouts.”

Pennsylvania is the first election that has shown the effects of Wright/bittergate and Obama only won categories of black, young, and those who are sure they are smarter than the rest of us.
This trend is only going to increase as time goes by.
Bella, There has been a tug-of-war between the Urban and Suburban/Rural Democrats. Agree, Bittergate has been provided a focus on the tug-of-war.
Hillary has been taking the mainstream moderate to conservative vote throughout the primary. She has been winning the large states as well as having a substantial lead in counties won achieved as a result of those voters.
hey, not bad.
Imus is gaining some real business momentum. WABC and Citadel have been very effective in developing and expanding the Imus Brand.
Good for Don Imus. The numbers are finally showing that the new show is pulling in more listeners, and also proving the”naysayers” and “betrayers” are completely wrong….about quite a number of things.
Dang Donald! They are trying to beat up on you! You hang in there. Haven’t been able to post to the BIG test!
I love you guys!
Phil Boyce wants you to believe Imus is now on about 40 radio stations, whereas Wikipedia (which has been pretty accurate up to now) lists only 34. And Imus hasn’t mentioned a new affiliate in over a month.
RFD TV has a limited penetration of about 30 million homes, less than half what MSNBC boasted when it was simulcasting IITM. Yet radio stations in most markets so far aren’t clamoring for this product they could be carrying exclusively. If Citadel wasn’t placing the show on their own outlets the radio station list would be embarassingly short.
That said, Imus has been a solid commercial success for WABC in the Tri-State market.
I do not believe that Phil Boyce would embellish the number of affiliates.
Wikipedia is a good source, however is not always up to date. Thus Imus is doing very well in my opinion.
Of the homes that MSNBC broadcast on is not a judge of what Don Imus’ pull was on that station which is going under by the way.
He pulled more viewers in any 15 minute period then any other morning or all day show on MSNBC with the exception of Keith Over-Bite.
So I say to you Ron Rob that Imus is doing better than expected.
I do disagree with you on Mr. Boyce’s statement of fact, not fiction.
Citadel is the leader in radio syndication so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they are aggressively looking to put Imus on affiliate stations. Citadel has been steadily adding stations to the I-Network. At this point Imus is being broadcast in what has traditionally been his 3 strongest markets nYc, Boston and DC.
Morning drive is the last hold out to national syndication. Stations have clung fiercely to the notion that this slot needs to be local vs national. Citadel is building a case with Imus results through their own stations and affiliates, that takes time.
It will be interesting to see the upcoming WABC Arbitron results and also the WTKK results for Imus. Probably to early for the DC results but maybe Citadel will talk trends.
Chanx, Keith,
Imus Times is giving me this message this morning:
“A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.”
I’m not getting this on any other web site. This just started this morning. Any ideas?
Saw the same warning earlier. Closed the browser and the situation did not return. Has to be a WordPress could’ve been a corrupted file or something like that.
Situation only occurred on the PC not the MAC. Ideas? One get a MAC – joking.
Seriously, try closing the browser and starting again
ChannelX,
I was watching Imus this morning what is up with James Brady’s last book how is his numbers
I have to think he is picking up on Deirdre’s book being number #4 on self help books. Imus had James Brady on early to plug his book is he looking for another bump?
I love Amy Winehouse….They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no no no.
Brady getting ahead of next week’s release of the Arbitron e-book? David Hinckley and his wife Fran Wood appeared at the I-Window earlier this week. The two appeared soon after Col Jack got off a salute at the window!
Seems like I-favs Hinckley, Wood Kurtz and Brady all elbowing for position.
Chanx,
I closed the browser and opened it again, but I got the same message. Now I’ve opened Firefox and it works here without the error message, but this page did take a long time to open.
Very odd, It’s a WordPress problem. From a technical perspective the site is tightly controlled any scripts etc would be coming from them. Will shoot a message off to their support. BTW they are pretty good at clearing problems.
BTW; The Apple browser “Safari” is now available for Windows! Apple claims it is faster then IE. Personal experience – it appears to be faster.
Chanx, This time when I opened Imus Times messages (in Firefox), the page opened promptly. I do notice that the time next to the messages is one hour off though. Very odd.
Alison, Site Clock is set to Central Time. Use to be West Coast, believe it is a Keith compromise
Sorry about the difficulties, hopefully WordPress will clear soon.

Imus even has an effect on google.
Bruce, you are selectively naieve about the veracity of radio execs. If CBS was claiming 62 stations for the old show , but only 47 could ‘be confirmed’, why would ‘about 40′ stations carrying the new show not similarly equate to 34.
Phil Boyce probably ’rounded up’ to get the 40 number.
(and I don’t mean the ’roundup’ of the I-man’s beloved Old West.)
In fact Imus has not welcomed any new radio stations since Santa Barbara Ca. more than a month ago. And to my knowledge only Nashville & environs has been added to the list of TV cablesystems.
But you go ahead and believe whatever you want, Bruce.
I’m a big Imus fan .. but I won’t wear rose-colored glasses .. or drink the Koolaid.
That’s Ok Ron Rob,
You can have an opinion as I do. Being selectively naive is your words.
Maybe the kool aid is available in your neck of the woods too.
Enjoy your Friday.
New Gallup Poll
Obama, 48 — Clinton, 47
Obama’s lead dwindled steadily all week, falling from a high of 10 percentage points in interviewing conducted in the three days just prior to the Pennsylvania primary. However, the percentage of Democrats supporting Obama has changed little (declining from 50% in April 19-21 polling to 48% today). Most of Clinton’s increased support (from 40% to 47%) has come from previously undecided voters.
Here is a list of Stations and affiliates now broadcast Imus in the Morning.

I count 36 as of the last reading. Think that is pretty close to 40 don’t you RonRob?
And if you can’t understand that list maybe you should view this.
He’s on in Melbourne, Fl. and I didn’t see that listed but may have missed it.
It’s hard to read that when it isn’t in color. But I think you are right. Then we have 37.
Not bad
Thanks Bella
Citadel may have 3 more under contract – TBA
I am glad that you cleared that up Channel. Just love when people think they no more than the Program Director of a Media Giant.
KNOW not NO. Sorry gang.
I am looking forward to them expanding did everyone think they were going to be on as many as Sean and Rush when they first came back you climb up maybe the pace is too slow for some it is frustrating because they have had to start over. I think Citadel is being aggressive this is just how radio works.
Its okay to be skeptical. Had the same thought ronrob did. Really to lazy to do the research, happy Bruce did. Just remember even Imus does not trust the suits so why should we? Or as Ronald Regan said “Trust but Verify”.
THAT was funny as hell!
Did you all count this one in Ohio that just came on board?

Give ‘em hell Bruce!! Good for you, thanks for the list!!:)
From Ree’s link
That’s one way of looking at it
“That’s one way of looking at it”
“One”…is the loneliest number….LOL.
Good job Bruce! (Done me proud, my friend).
Prediction time!
May 7th to the 21st….
…watch the “super delegate” count in the Democratic race….
…it’s going to be all done.
Good for John McCain.
His integrity is gold, at least in my book. I hope the general elections and BOTH parties will take heed….
…most intelligent voters are SICK of sleaze and slime (are you listening Hillary?)…
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina’s Republican Party of being “out of touch with reality” over its refusal to pull an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama.
In an NBC interview aired on Friday, the Arizona senator said he has done all he can to persuade the state party to cancel the television ad that criticizes Obama as “too extreme” because of controversial remarks made by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
“They’re not listening to me because they’re out of touch with reality and the Republican Party. We are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and this kind of campaigning is unacceptable,” McCain told NBC’s “Today” Show.
This Ad Has Been Pulled,,,,
http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN2535509420080425
So does that mean Jeremiah Wright is now for John McCain?
Why is he showing up at this time to present himself to the media? He is not helping Obama for sure.
But the hypocritical tv media has already spent two days running this ad and making this a top story for free so North Carlina does not even need to run it now. And John McCain comes out smelling like a rose.
Jeremiah Wright said what he said and if he had not said it, there would be no issue and no videos to replay. Does that sound familiar? Ironic, isn’t it?
Donald,
Not to sound too cynical, but I think McCain is FINE with the N.C. ad. Works perfectly for him. They put out the ad, he denounces it, and gets to look like the good guy. Meanwhile, the ad is out, seen, and gets publicity. It’w a win-win for McCain, and a classic move.
I am posting this from our “Step Sister Site”. The piece was written by Bella with a link to the Post regarding Les Moonves. Better known as Less Moonbeam. Gutless Weasel. My opinion. So with Bella’s permission I will repeat what she said with link. Thank you Bella.

New Thread
In Pennsylvania, 90+ percent of the African American vote went to Obama. Is that a racially motivated vote? COULD that be a racially motivated vote?
But more seriously, the REAL poll is in, and I believe the vote in Pennsylvania is just about how it shakes out. Obama wins the African Americans, the “youth” vote, and the elites, which includes the news media and I guess Imus.
Everybody else goes for Hillary. And I think she takes North Carolina and Indiana. It’s not over yet.
Its not over yet; there are more primaries, more votes to cast, more super delegates to decide. After disenfranchising Florida and Michigan voters, why are the Democrats in such a rush to take away the remaining states vote?
Could it be the Democrats are the party of disenfranchment?
Chanx…
The disenfranchising of voters in Michigan was due to stupid Democrats in Michigan. In Florida, the Republicans did it to the Democratic party.
Democratic Party rules, were in fact broken (or violated).
The rules (as to the primaries) were voted on by many Democrats. Harold Ickes was one of those people that helped craft and then voted for those rules. He now works for Hillary Clinton and has had a “life changing experience”…now saying those rules he voted for were wrong…LOL.
On another note…
On Michelle Malkins’ Blog (posted on April 25th), she is quoting from an article by Patrick Poole from Frontpagemag.com:
“Shady Islamic fund-raiser Hatem El-Hady dedicated himself to raising cash for the Democrat Party and supporting Barack Obama.
Patrick Poole at Front Page Magazine reported on El-Hady’s efforts earlier this week.”

Chanx, to answer your original question:
“Could it be the Democrats are the party of disenfranchment?”…
…that, would seem to matter on who is ahead, and who is behind.
Once the date for the Florida primary was set Howard Dean and company had final decision making regarding the seating of the delegates. It was the DNC under Howard Dean’s leadership which made the decision to not count Florida’s vote.
Donald, Would it be like calling for a game to end in the 8th inning because your team is ahead.
ChanX…
I understand what you are saying. Maybe I am misinformed, but the Democratic party rules were established well before the Republican Florida legislature decided to move their primary “up”…thus violating the set rules. In Florida, the Democratic constituency of their State were just screwed by the Republican controlled legislature that made that decision. Not so in Michigan, where the Democratic Party of the State flat out disobeyed said Democratic Party rules.
It sucks, and I don’t like it anymore (I live in Michigan) than any other person in Florida or Michigan. But it happened. The rules were made. The ruling parties of Michigan and Florida made their decisions in spite of the known consequences. So, I do have great empathy for the Florida Democrats. They HAD no choice. In Michigan…the Democratic ruling legislature acted in defiance of National Democratic rules…and now, well, here we are.
To be fair…if both States were to have had a referendum by the Democratic citizens of the State, and explain to them what the possible consequences would have been…then maybe this would not have happened.
From Wickpedia:
In August 2006, the Democratic National Committee adopted a proposal by its Rules and Bylaws Committee stating that only the four states of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina would be permitted to hold primaries or caucuses before February 5, 2008.[41]
In May 2007, the Florida Legislature passed a bill that moved the date of the state’s primary to January 29, 2008, setting up a confrontation with the DNC.[42] In response, the DNC ruled that Florida’s 185 pledged delegates and 26 superdelegates would not be seated at the Democratic National Convention, or, if seated, would not be able to vote.[43] In October 2007, Democrats from Florida’s congressional delegation filed a federal lawsuit against the DNC to force a recognition of its delegates, but the suit was unsuccessful.[44][41] The presidential candidates promised not to campaign in Florida.
Meanwhile, Michigan moved its primary to January 15, 2008, also in violation of party rules. In October 2007, Obama, Richardson, Biden, and Edwards withdrew their names from the Michigan primary ballot, under pressure from the DNC and voters in Iowa and New Hampshire.[45] Kucinich unsuccessfully sought to remove his name from the ballot,[46] whereas Clinton and Dodd opted to remain on the ballot.[47] In December 2007, the DNC ruled that Michigan’s 128 pledged delegates and 29 superdelegates would not count in the nominating contest unless it were held on a later date.[48] The Michigan Democratic party responded with a press release noting that the primary would proceed with Clinton, Dodd, Gravel, and Kucinich on the ballot. Supporters of Biden, Edwards, Richardson, and Obama were urged to vote “uncommitted” instead of writing in their candidates’ names because write-in votes for those candidates would not be counted.[49]

Sorry (again) if this post comes up twice. The posts are not coming up as they normally do.
From Wickpedia:

I guess the “Fair” way to appraise the situation for Florida and Michigan Democrats would thus be the following:
In Florida, for Democrats, the Republican Party is the “Party of Disenfranchisement”
In Michigan…the Democratic party is the “Party of Disenfranchisement”
…just to be fair…and based on what historically has transpired.
Given the complicity of the Republican Legislature in this, the Democrats established a rule they could reasonably enforce. Since setting the date for the primary is in the hands of the Legislature and outside the purview of the State Democratic Leadership.
Still Howard Dean and the DNC ultimately had a decision to make after the Florida Legislature acted. IMO – they made the wrong decision.
Donald as a reasonable person, would you have made the same decision Howard Dean and the DNC did regarding Florida?
Actually, Chanx…
…I am weary of this election already…LOL. After visiting numerous blog sites, reading various “MSM” sites and pundit quips…it’s starting to just grind me right down.
Anyone who runs for the office of President…well, as Imus has said…why would anyone want to go through it?
I guess what gets to me more than ever, is how outright ugly and disparaging it is for anyone to run for a public office today, let alone the Presidency.
Some say it’s the fire that tests and purifies a candidate. I have seen some that have made it through that “fire” and didn’t deserve to. I’ve seen good people just destroyed.
It just gets meaner and uglier out there.
By the way, I do agree with you 100% on Florida.
I am hoping for better times in the general election and afterwards…but THAT is another pipe dream.
This is NOT a pipe drea however…
Whoever our new elected President of our Nation is, and takes the helm come 2009…that person will be in my prayers…
…because the next President is being handed one hell of a mess to confront. I pray for their wisdom, courage, and above all else…I am praying for this Nation, and the rest of this world.
“Downward Spiral” comes to mind. We do desperately need a leader with foresight, restraint, intelligence, and compassion.
I pray he or she is up to that task, because not just the people of this country are anxious…but many of our fellow nations around the world are also.
