Rewound is Something Special on 77 WABC this Memorial Day! WABC Rewound, 6am to 6pm Join us this Monday, Memorial Day and listen to the sounds of WABC Rewound! Mitch Dolan’s idea was started in 1997. We commemorated when WABC brought the Beatles to New York City, 30 years before and played a lot of the old air checks. In putting that together we learned that many people had saved hours and hours of old airchecks of the old WABC when we were rocking…not talking! That gave us the idea for WABC Rewound, which we started in 1998. So this is the 10th year and a lot of the credit goes to Johnny Donovan. Johnny took on the task of producing the entire event. We decided to make it as close to how the old WABC sounded as possible with a lot of great tapes from the 60’s and 70’s, including some of the commercials. More by clicking Here

If you are going to podcast WABC rewound, I suggest you clear that with Donavan and Sniffen, the two who run the after talk program… Alvin is rather protective.

PT, I just tried to post a thanks to you for the words to What did Delaware! I’ve always known bits and pieces of the song, but never thought to look it up on the internets. I think it would be a fun song to learn while studying the states. Oh boy, my kiddos are in for fun next year. Now I just need the tune. hmmmm….

Brucie, I'll have links afterward, to pod casts for all 12 hrs of Rewound. (I have the last 2 years including this gem which I consider the greatest song intro I ever heard Click | here and you wonder why Imus calls him the greatest who ever lived ?). Can you send me an Mp3 of Johnny Donovan's K-Tel commercial. I'll even look up pictures of the artists for you and we can do a T.V. commercial for it. Maybe get BruceTube mentioned on the show again.
