“Imus or Mike & Mike?”
1050 ESPN program director Aaron Spielberg said Friday the decision was made in the wake of on-air remarks by Imus Thursday in which he ripped the ESPN morning show, “Mike and Mike,” in terms ESPN believed crossed a line from legitimate criticism to “off-color” personal attacks.
Wolf was given the choice of staying with 1050 or Imus, and opted for the latter. He has a longstanding relationship with Imus, for whom he famously reported from near the site of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

This is the second time Warner had to choose between Imus and another gig. Last time Warner choose his WCBS TV gig. Imus In The Morning is way better for the sports legend. Doing local sports reports for Mike & Mike was nowhere for Warner. On Imus he has a larger audience and a much larger role commenting beyond sports.

Good! What a dumb move by ESPN they were getting advertized on 77WABC and all of Imus’s syndicated stations, talk about shooting yourself in the foot! Warner made the right choice we are listening, Warner wants an audience. I was listening to Imus rip them too funny don’t the folks at ESPN think that might have caused some “listeners” to go listen to Mike and Mike, to see what Imus was cutting up about?
I missed what Imus said, anyone willing to tell me?? How bad can it be?? Gotta love the Iman…

Imus has been b*tchin forever about having to announce the 1050 biz. It was obvious something was going on Fri. with the unexplained “exclusive” talk and Warner begging him not to say anything about SS.
Goiman- don’t ‘member exact rant, but didn’t seem any worse than his normal ravings. Maybe Bruce can do us a tube on it.
As much as I enjoyed “the rant” it actually was quite tam by “Fatso and Fruitloops” standards. Me thinks they’ve never heard of Oar Wilde over at 1050.
He also mentioned Boomer isn’t any great shakes either; ’spose they’ll kick him of the FAN?

I am a little late on your comment. Believe it was just the opposite if you mean WABC. ESPN may have, but not Imus.

ESPN Radio are wimps. They lost the Great Warner Wolf because he knows to go with a winner.
Frankly I think this was set up before time. And Warner wanted to be on WABC all along. (MY OPINION)

I agree 100% Create Buzz! People don’t turn into something because of “Vanity blurbs or Warm and Fuzzy comments” as a rule it needs to be edgy to get people’s attention. Either, people are hard wired this way or the Media has trained them this way.
Imus’s comments stuck, these things 3 things, into my memory, ESPN 1050, Mike and Mike, and when they are on the radio. Imus doesn’t get paid enough
I can’t imagine the discussion Imus and Warner were having off air.
