Great link to some classic vintage Iman clips courtesy of (now defunct) old Imusblog.com. Kinda miss that site run by “Big Roy”.
Plenty of great clips to watch and listen to until Imus gets back on the air again.
http://es.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=imusblog&p=r
Big Roy is missed, thanX Donald.
Watching some of those clips brings back a question that I don’t think anyone will ever get the “real” answer to:
What was the “real reason” Larry Kenny wasn’t included in some form or another on the show? He was a staple with Imus’ show for quite a long time.
I do truly miss his talent. I understand, with all the other talent that is now on the show, that it “might get a little crowded” …
…still, one would think an occasional appearance could have been worked out.
The “excuse” that Imus wasn’t “happy with his performances” just doesn’t seem to ring true, at least to me.
I would have given anything to have been the “fly on the wall” (sort of speaking) when that decision was made.
…even still…it was great to listen and watch him again in a lot of those clips.
Be well everyone, and enjoy your weekend!
This is breaking on CBS NEWS Al Zawahiri might be dead or wounded.

Saw the Al Zawahiri reports earlier today. The only 9-11 character left is Bin Laden, who is sitting in some rat hole absolutely powerless. So much for the US having done nothing to Al Qaeda
Will 60 minutes rerun the Al Zawahri interview? Break out the beers!
ChannelXRFR,
I believe this letter they intercepted was real “God Willing” he is feeling some pain, nothing I am sure, compared to the pain and suffering he has inflicted on multitude of innocent people. File under, when bad things happen to bad people.
This might be a fun match.

I agree with this article and this is part of the reason for the popularity of Imus in the Morning, among the women’s demographic. Mike and Mike (metrosexual) not as popular go figure.
The Feminist movement was highjacked, today it is filled with men haters. There is a difference with equality for women, and out and out hating men for being men.

Windfall Profits: Accruing in unexpectedly large amounts.
Call me old fashion but an 8% profit margin based on investment and production does not seem to be either unexpected or large.
I do not know if this is the right place to comment, but I must say I love listening to Mark Simone and Warner Wolf. They are terrific together. I hope Imus has Mark on as a guest when Imus returns. I will definitely miss Mark and the combination of the 2 of them together. Some of today’s music did not make much sense to me but some of their other selections have been great fun to hear. Imus, as always the genius in radio, put together a great substitute for his absence. The duo of Mark and Warner can give the Imus team the much deserved time off that they periodically need. Then Imus can give Warner time off when Imus is back.
Mark Simone and Warner are a bit boring. And I guarantee Imus will not have Mark Simone as a guest on.
Furthermore, Imus is not on Vacation. He is at his New Mexico Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer. This is not a Vacation for him.
Anyone who listens to Mark Simone when Imus is off, must have a problem with Imus. And it’s only during the Vacation period June through September that Imus does his show from the Ranch.
On the plus side for Mark 1) He will do his own interviews, for example Jonathan Alter today. 2) He gets Imus, intros a “Best Of segment” and moves quickly out of the way 3) Simmone’s Saturday morning program is awesome.
The Warner stuff is all over the place. Some of the discusions are totally engaging and sometimes want to shout “shutup, just shutup”! Mark made the valid point this morning that Imus has a huge supporting cast but during the “Best Of” there is only Mark and Warner.
BTW Imus has been very complimentary of Mark’s Best Of work.
Imus is on vacation from WABC. What Imus chooses to do on his vacation is his business.
Bruce, I don’t think I mentioned a word about vacation. I think Imus needs a break at times from the rigor of the show and its schedule and especially when he is out at the Ranch.
We don’t all have to like the same things. I happen to enjoy the way Mark and Warner interact and the stories they share and the questions they ask and so on. They make me smile and laugh. They are different from the Imus show and both shows make me eager to turn on the computer at 6AM to get WABC so I do not miss anything.
Very happy to see solidarity here. Good job Channel.
Don’t understand the sensitivity to “Vacation”. You take time off from the paying gig that is a “Vacation”.
Channelxrfr, you mention that Mark Simmone has a Sat. show. Can you tell me more about when it is on? I will definitely try to listen to it. Again, I think Mark and Warner have been fabulous!
I am not about to get into a food fight with you Channel. It’s a losing proposition.
It’s time to move on and do other things more productive.
Mark Simone does a program from 6 to 10 on Saturday Mornings. He spends a lot a time with guests, interviewing over multiple segments. Couple of weeks ago he interviewed Pat Buchanan on his new book “Unnecessary War”. Imus interviewed Pat on the book but it was the interview with Mark convinced me to buy the book.
Larry Kudlow is on after Simone and he has an interesting perspective. Monica Crowley, the I-Fav herself, follows Kudlow.
I catch bits and pieces of all three on Saturdays.
Also, Mark Simone also does a Saturday Night Oldies from 6 to 10.
Channelxrfr, Thank You very much for the Mark Simone information. I definitely will tune in to hear him at both hours.
I love Imus and his interviews but I think they are shorter than they used to be. I learn so much from his interviews and wish they could be longer but I figured the problem is that he has so many people on his team and they all need to be heard plus all of the sponsors need their air time. So I accept the new format and am very very happy to get to hear whatever he does.
I have had trouble logging in for commenting on your site and was determined today to get in. I want to Thank You so much for keeping this site up and running! You helped us through that grim period without Imus and your commentaries/writings are superb!
Sometimes it seems like Imus is just going through the motions with guests and those interviews don’t last long. Sometimes Imus is having great interviews but has a hard stop, those interviews don’t last long enough.
Thank you jeanlists for your kind words. Puting the finishing touches on the Imus Country Bumpers, continuing the summer project.
“Call me old fashion but…”
O.K.
You’re old-fashioned.
Lets say oil company profits are 8% on a sale and gas is $4 per gal. So roughly 8 cents on a dollar means 32 cents profit on a gallon of gas.
BHO takes back 1/3 of oil company profits reducing the profit per gallon of gas by 11 cents. Keep in mind this is a tax increase the price hasn’t changed. Effectively consumer pays for the tax at the pump!
But wait. BHO proposes a “One Time Payment” of $1,000 to some not all taxpayers. However, this isn’t a “One Time Tax”. The Federal Government goes on collecting the tax which is forever charged to the consumer! When is a tax increase not a tax increase – NEVER.
But what effect has it had on price? Price goes up to pay the tax. Why? the shareholders who after all are pension funds, mutual funds, 401K investors, retirees and other individual stock holders still demand a return on investment. Therefore the price per gallon must increase proportionately. Since all oil companies pay the same tax there is no incentive or even an ability to drive down the cost to the federal government. The cost of the tax goes to the consumer which you will recall is collected at the gas pump.
Points to ponder:
BHO’s “Windfall Profit” tax increases the price at the pump for the consumer.
Why is it when the price per barrel drops why are “speculators” are not given credit for the change?
BTW: how lucky is BHO to announce an energy policy focused “Windfall Profits” on the very day the price per barrel drops $4? Put another way that is 20% in the past three weeks, who’s counting? Brilliant

If we at the least announce we will begin drilling for our own oil, prices will come down.
Barack Obama has no plan. He flip flops to make his campaign look like he is for something that only less than 4 weeks he was against.
NO NO NO! NoBama2008
He is lost. And will lose in November 2008.
In my opinion. Anyone who has bought into Barack “Messiah” Obama is looking for some magical Fairy who will solve everything at one.
I call them “The Kool-Aid” drinkers of America.
Mr. X
You don’t mention the significant subsidies that the oil industry receives from us, the tax payers, in your argument against Obama’s “Windfall Tax Plan”. How do they fit into your “equation” …or haven’t you given them any thought?
http://media.cleantech.com/node/554
Mike,
There is no reason to question what Channel says. Obama’s plan is totally flawed.
The U.S. Government already get’s 50 percent of any income from the oil companies. And $500 or $1000 to us is nothing.
Michelle Obama said that Bush sent her a check for $600. Just enough to buy her a pair of Ear Rings.
Isn’t that special?
“Debate (American English) or debating (British English) is a formal method of interactive and position representational argument. Debate is a broader form of argument than logical argument, which only examine the consistency from axiom, and factual argument, which only examine what is or isn’t the case. Though logical consistency, factual accuracy as well as some emotional appeal to audience are important elements of the art of persuasion, in debating, one side often prevails over the other side by presenting superior “context” and/or framework of the issue.”
“In sociology, manners are the unenforced standards of conduct which show the actor to be cultured, polite, and refined. They are like laws in that they codify or set a standard for human behavior, but they are unlike laws in that there is no formal system for punishing transgressions, other than social disapproval. They are a kind of norm. What is considered “mannerly” is highly susceptible to change with time, geographical location, social stratum, occasion, and other factors. That manners matter is evidenced by the fact that large books have been written on the subject, advice columns frequently deal with questions of mannerly behavior, and that schools have existed for the sole purpose of teaching manners”.
from Wikipedia
A little something for you, Bruce, on debating and manners …you need to brush up on both.
Mike,
I wasn’t in a debate with you. Made a statement of what I believe are facts.
Please!. Let’s not go there. We are pretty good friends.
Channel is busy with his bumpers. And either I misunderstood your question or Channel didn’t emphasize the highlighted portion of his discussion on Obama’s plan for the Big Oil Companies.
Whatever the case might be. Will not debate anyone here. It’s pointless.
How do subsidies fit into the equation?
There is something inherently unfair about tax subsidies regardless of industry. The US tax code has become grossly distorted as industries, companies and interest groups have lobbied lawmakers for favored treatment. Solution is to remove all subsidies, flatten the tax code and otherwise simplify the taxes.
The “Windfall Profits Tax” is a tax on all energy, not just gasoline for personal vehicles. Creates a tariff on every element of the economy including; agriculture, manufacture, transportation, retail, utilities and services. This tax will be passed on to to consumers regardless of means or income increasing the cost of goods.
BHO’s promise of a $1,000 to offset the cost hardly covers the impact to consumers.
Mr. X
“Solution is to remove all subsidies, flatten the tax code and otherwise simplify the taxes.”
“This tax will be passed on to consumers regardless of means or income increasing the cost of goods.”
If we “remove all subsidies” …won’t that “tax” be passed on to consumers? How is Sen. Barack’s plan “a tax on all energy”? I don’t get that. Did you read the pros and cons on oil subsidies on the link that I provided in my post? Pretty interesting.
Did you happen to see T. Boone Pickens on Larry King last night? Again, pretty interesting. One of his points of contention as to how we find ourselves “addicted to foreign oil” …cheap oil. He also said that even if we drilled everywhere we could, found all the oil that we could, at best, it would add up to 3-per cent of the world’s oil …we now, just in the U.S. use 21-per cent. He’s not against more drilling, off-shore or anywhere else, but he acknowledged is not even close to a solution.
More stuff on Obama vs McCain and taxes …taxestaxestaxes …just can’t get enough of this stuff …don’t you wish it was election year every year?
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/mccains_small-business_bunk.html
More stuff on Obama vs McCain and energy …”the facts, ma’am, just the facts …” …remember when Jack Webb used to say that? If you do …you’re old …maybe even “old-fashioned”.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/a_false_accusation_about_energy.html
Flattening the tax code and removing all subsidies would result in everyone paying a fair share, businesses and individuals alike. It would remove distortions from the market providing for greater transparency.
Read the pros and cons of the subsidy article, great example of government obfuscation through the tax code. On the surface subsidies seemly further policy and contribute to the public good. In practice subsidies distort the market and limit consumer choices. Why doesn’t government trust individuals through the marketplace to make the right decisions?
“Why doesn’t government trust individuals through the marketplace to make the right decisions?”
The urge to manipulate and control may be the reason why many politicians run for office …that, and a chance to get rich quick.
Looking at factcheck given the context of the Democratic Leadership, those “ifs” read like “no” to me.
The “urge to manipulate” is a useful way to look at politicians!
From this mornings program; O-Force One Click|Here
Now Urges that would explain alot. Some people have no control over their Urges, some don’t know, that is what propells, some of them through life. Somebody explain to me, what separates us from the animal kingdom again
Oh yeah Taxes GRIN
According to the aforementioned Cleantech Forum
In Europe a gallon of gas is roughly $8/gal with the US at $4/gal. European taxes soak up $4.80 of the $8 and in the US taxes soak up $1.60 of the $4, leaving the oil companies in Europe and the US with around $3.30/gal. Point is European governments are taking the taxes not from the oil companies but from the consumer!
In both Europe and the US taxes are simply added to the price of gasoline. So all we need to do is add the cost/gal of a “Windfall Profits Tax” to estimate the price of gasoline consumers will be paying at the pump!
We are already discussing this subject you can leave a comment here the Republicans are live blogging the Rebellion.

Luke Russert sat in for Tony Reali on ESPN’s Pardon The Interruption yesterday.
Luke hosted the “Over/Under” PTI segment announcing the topics for this segment, holding cards up with the statistic. The PTI hosts argue over whether a certain sports figure or team will go over or under a certain number wins for example.
Like the real Reali, Luke corrected factual errors at the end of the show.
Standing in PTI, Luke was a standout.

Just for the sake of fair and balanced paranoia….
Is this logical?
Assume an oil man is nominated for Potus
Assume the conditions of his support and election to the most powerful position in the world include delivering the most desirable drilling sites for oil regardless of effect on the welfare of the planet
Assume that this Potus ran drilling in protected areas by early in his presidency and the idea was heartily rejected
Assume this Potus has a very canny advisor who assured oil man’s supporters that it might take until the very end of the presidency to figure a way to convince the public that this was for the good of the American economy and defense but they shoud be assured that their interests would eventually be protected and their profits increased and tax credits maintained even if it took a war to do it
Assume that this Potus had some sort of Freudian problem and unconciously had to reverse/disprove the theories of his father and his more intelligent and more attractive brother
Assume the electorate bought this package
Assume Ayn Rand knew what she was talking about
Solution ?
Back from San Francisco. What a spectacular city. ChanX, Thanks for the tour tips. Gordon Biersch is a great restaurant. We had their “Sommer Gold” seasonal brew. Visited all the tourist traps except Haight Ashbury…came down to choosing between it and going to Napa Valley…guess what our choice was? Did the Alcatraz tour…I’m convinced that solitary confinement has to be a punishment worse than the death penalty…cruel but not unusual?
George Will gave a great talk to our group, full of his usual wry humor and common sense wisdom. Here is one memorable quote:
November 4th 2008 the end of an error/era in America. Gone are Bush etal. God willing. There is an Oliver Stone movie about George Bush ~ W. Can’t wait to see it in full – have only seen clips. But, I’ve been looking at & reading about W for all his life. Yes – even when he was an cheerleader at Yale & a member of the elite Cross & Bones. Read Portland Press Herald report when he got arrested for drunk driving here in Maine. Sheesh! This person got into the Oval Office & lied about Iraq and led us into war. OMG. What an infamous awful legacy. Do we forget about Katrina? Not I.
There are two ways of looking at paranoia
Then there is this view
mtnherbal in terms of POTUS Parnoia Andrew Grove’s most likely applies. The oil companies knows the public has a certain tolerance for pricing so it was really just a matter of waiting till prices reached that point. There were many people who argued that 41 did not go far enough, so maybe 43 did take a second bite at the apple. PARANOIA
The qualities that attract (or for some of us—attracted) us to John McCain are his perceived “maverick” status. The willingness to go against the grain, to fight against the odds …and sometimes win that struggle. But, as the campaign plods along (dear god-will this thing never end!) as he panders to his “base” those qualities become less apparent.
He presents proposed policy and “solutions” that sound like the same old republican mantra that some of us have heard before …over and over again. Did they ever work? Well, yes they did …for that top 1-percent …but the goodies will “trickle down” to rest of us …eventually (honest).
Sen. Obama comes to us, suddenly, out of …who knows where. He’s different we say …or is he? He’s smart, he’s honest, he’s fresh …or is he?
His ideas seem, to some of us, more rational than Sen. McCain’s …particularly in energy (Mr. X’s analysis not withstanding). Is this enough to give him our vote …maybe.
But back to that “he’s different” issue. I worked in Chicago for about a year back in the early seventies. Politics in that town can be a lot different than what most of us are used to. It was absolutely amazing to me, a young boy from Ohio at the time, the stuff they (the Daley administration) pulled …and got away with! Sen. Obama learned his political craft in this atmosphere, and he’s learned it well. Does this make him “different” or does it matter? Are questions about his fund raising, for example, relevant, or are they picayune? Can we ask similar questions about John McCain …or are they, also, picayune?
It’s possible, I think, that the main thing that counts are those ideas and “solutions” that they present and our judgement about who will be able to govern successfully.
mtnherbal—I think your question is both paranoid and “logical”. Only the Bush administration could do that to us. I think Kafka may be the more relevant author here.

mntherbal,
I don’t think it is Paronia, we are experiencing a Power Struggle. Pelosi wanted the economy to go into a slight recession, to help the Dem canidate get elected. The Republicans knew this and decided to use the downturn in their favor “opportunity” doesn’t always present itself sometimes it is manufactured
I really think the Dem ticket would have been stronger this time out if they had ran a “Moderate” Democrat. After 9/11 the pendulum swung to the extreme right, this really caused some pain for the very far left, who have a social agenda to change American Culture. See Multi Culturalism. Now the Pendulum will swing back to the left but it isn’t swinging to the far left, John McCain is running as a “Moderate” Republican. John McCain has taken the Position, the Democrats should be inhabiting.
Dick Morris said something on Fox News this morning about the VP picks. He mentioned that Obama will pick Bayh of Indiana but he should pick Biden..he said, the problem with picking Biden, many would say the ticket should be flipped. I feel slightly dirty now agreeing with Dick Morris
Dick Morris said, McCain will pick Romney but he should pick Lieberman an Independent. I don’t know about the Republican ticket. Romney has run a business and a state. Lieberman a Senator, and has been on a VP ticket before so he has had his bite at the Apple. Romney is younger, I don’t know if that would cause a contrast or a comfort zone per McCain. Romney would take over if something happened to McCain. It is a quandry.
Frec, SF is a great city, lots of character and characters.
Glad Gordon Biersch worked out for you. First introduced to GB back in 1988 when they opened in Palo Alto. Of course now it has really grown with restaurants in 27 locations across the US. The food is good and the location in SF is extraordinary.
Other favorite Palo Alto restaurant is MacArthur Park. Here is the link to the menu http://www.macpark.com/page15.htm
The “Windfall Profits Tax” unfairly targets US companies. The real culprits in this walk away, scot free. How about these guys:
Saudi Arabian Oil Co.,(Saudi Aramco) Saudi Arabia
National Iranian Oil Company, Iran
Kuwait Petroleum Corp, Kuwait
Petroliam Nasional Bhd. (Petronas) Malaysia
Iraq National Oil Company Iraq
Koc Holding A.S. Turkey
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. United Arab Emirates
Nigerian National Petroleum Corp Nigeria
National Oil Company (NOC) Libya
Sonatrach Algeria
For a more complete list of companies Click | Here
BTW: US based global companies can keep profits offshore for indefinite periods of time, repatriating when convenient.
Review:
1) Consumer pays the tax,
2) International companies are exempt,
3) Offshore profits can be shielded.
Barrack Obama’s Windfall Profits Tax is as bad an idea as Richard Nixon’s Price Controls.
ChannelXRFR,
What About Hugo Chavez and Venezuela?
Imus needs to stick his head up, Bernie needs to join Simone, and Imus needs to check in.
http://talkstreamlive.wordpress.com/2008/08/01/top-25-talk-radio-rpt-xxvi/
Good point Ree, What about Venezuela’s Citgo profits? Those profits will stay offshore and the US will have no recourse. In this case the Windfall Profits Tax would create a competitive pricing advantage for Chavez’ Citgo since his company would not be subject to the tax. Talk about the law of unintended consequences!
Sen. Obama’s “Windfall Profits Tax” is just an element …and a small element at that, of his entire energy plan.
And yes, it could well be construed as his attempt to “pander” to his base. Interesting that the price per barrel has been dropping these last few days. Didn’t this happen four years ago …during the last elections? What’s that all about?
National Iranian Oil Company, Iran (?)
Mr. X
What are you saying here? We’re not supposed to even be buying oil from these people, there’s an embargo …remember (are you rolling on the floor engulfed in gales of laughter from that?)
Ree,
I agree with you re: Dems; a moderate candidate would have made sense. However, I believe some factions of the party thought they could put Mickey Mouse up this election and win. I also think that some of the “anti-Clinton” segment tagged Obama way back when and the DNC speech was his coming out party. Altho’ he has recently stepped on it, Bill Clinton is an astute politician; he knows who dissed them and he is pissed. He has said many times that Hillary was the more electable. My major concern remains the balance on the Supreme Court; however, the idea of a Dem Congress with a very liberal Dem Prez is scary. The more gridlock there is, the less harm they can do.
mtnherbal,
Which helps McCain, a divided Government is what Americans usually produce. Why? They don’t trust politicians, who can blame them:) The Republicans got the majority because of 9/11, they abused the public trust i.e. they behaved like typical politicians, see the corruption and fraud charges, brought against them this led to alot of the losses in the Nov 2006 Election. Then Ole Pelosi comes in with her “Broom” to sweep the house clean but that never happened just more “words” Nancy Pelosi is a Progressive, and she isn’t up to the kind of Politics, the Republicans play but Bill Clinton knows how to play Republicans. If you look at the score card of everything the Leadership has pushed(the latest the FISA Bill even Obama didn’t Vote with them) they keep losing. Nancy Pelosi is an all or nothing personality- RIGIDED not Flexible. Bill Clinton would have taken the Energy Policy issue for example, and made the Republican’s position his own, and forced a compromise.
I would listen to Bill Clinton first on matters of Politics before alot of other people. It is a dumb thing to make enemies of the Clintons, they will let team Obama stew in their juices. It isn’t about liking or disliking the Clintons, it is about giving the Devil his due, GRIN.
Ree – I couldn’t agree more.
However, I do admire Pelosi for taking the hit on this drilling bit (npi).
As a child I always thought it horrible that the Smoky Mountain Natl Park took up so much of our available land area; but that was before our area started becoming overpopulated and the mountains around began having houses and condos hanging off of every peak. Now the park is the sanctuary and memory of what our mountains used to be.
That is why the offshore and Anwar drilling troubles me. It wasn’t acceptable until the oil people started jerking our chains. It is not the long-term solution and I am not knowledgable enough on the eco ramifications to know if we could recover. Sorta like those condos….they’re not going to tear them down. And I still believe a lot of this speculation was to force the drilling that W promised the boys.
mntherbal,
That was my point about Clinton, he would have adopted the same position, then forced a compromise. Nancy is an all or nothing politician, she will take a hit, for the preception of blocking, and she is an obstructionist. The way she has lost other battles, she has set herself up to lose another.
Conservationism isn’t the same as Enviormentalism, people have to live in the enviorment, they can however be Good Stewards.
I think T Bone Pickens was right, we need to find another way, he has come up with away, to give us some “breathing space” in the interm. The solution isn’t going to come out of the Government. If oil drops back down, what happens, nothing changes, American’s ignore the issue until the next crisis. We can’t afford anymore obstructionist leadership, someone needs a long vision for our energy needs and not a short term fix. They need to engage each other and Nancy Pelosi, is a my way or the highway kind of politician. Except she doesn’t have the votes to carry out her agenda so she is sitting tight. Counting her chickens before they hatch, the Republicans will use this against the Democrats, in all the Congressional Races across the country, and they should. They would be very poor politicians not to use an advantage, like our failed Energy Policy. Pelosi might get further if she were not so rigided…but she isn’t a moderate, she isn’t from that “mold”
Yes I agree, I think opening up more of the United States for domestic drilling is on George W Bush’s to do list but take a look at what he has recently been able to cross off his list. The Dems would be in a better position with the American Public if the Moderate Democrats, were in the Leadership. Oh well everything happens for a reason…out of the ashes the Pheonix rises maybe the same will happen for the Democrat Party?
Re: National Iranian Oil Company, Iran
Oil is a commodity with NIOC placing product in the global market, its all in the mix.
If anyone is manipulating the market to realize “Windfall Profits” it would be the Middle East oil producers. So why should US companies and ultimately US consumers be further penalized through a “Windfall Profits Tax”?

I think it’s good idea. Maybe he will not return
Laree, Regarding your entry number 59, I am not sure that I completely understand what you meant.
Bernies back! Lanny Davis and Alan Colmes guests. Bernie hosting “Liberals Gone Wild”. Stay tuned this is going to be good.
Full Disclosure: 1)Personally disappointed when Imus dissed Davis earlier this year. 2) Colmes makes Hannity & Colmes.
Bernie interviews Lanny Davis making effective use of audio tape for context and comment.
Lanny encourages the BHO campaign to upgrade HRC from ladies night speaker to the key note speaker slot. Believes with HRC as VP, BHO has a stronger ticket. Following HRC and claiming to be in the fifth stage of grief Lanny declares his support with for BHO.
Good appearance Lanny – ThanX
jeanlist,
Imus is down to #23 talkstream live, he usually does better then that, all the break time has folks tuning out.
Imus is a brand, while he is on break he needs something stronger then Simone alone and Warner on Sports. He needs Bernie or Charles “Tony Powell” to be on air with Simone “support” Everytime Bernie is on, we all make sure to listen in. It is, Imus in the Morning.
Bernie has a great back in forth with Alan Colmes. Bernie refers to AC as 1/3 of the Hannity & Colmes show. Asks about Alans relationship with Sean. Suggests H&C take sundown walks in Central Park as a way to relax tension between themselves. Alan: “What you mean by you guys?(liberals)” Bernie “What you mean by you guys?(conservatives)” Traded back n forth ~ hilarious.
Alan doesn’t pull any punches, agrees Paris is smoking hot, declines drilling!
FOX are you paying attention? Bernie for Hannity guest host! That’s what I’m saying…
Note: Following the interview, Bernie sings along with the returning bumper Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime”

You know Bernie is missing Lou. Especially when he says stuff like “Canned Heat is a one hit wonder”, YIKES
Canned Heat is the archetypical 60s band appearing at virtually every major musical event including the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock. The band founded in 1965 featured blues/rock music, and is known for loose jams. Hits include “Goin’ Up the Country”, “Woodstock Boogie”, “Let’s Work Together”, “On The Road Again”. Hey and what about “Shake and Boogie”, Refried Boogie and of course “Amphetamine Annie” ~ Speed Kills a lesson for all!
What DA YA say WABC, bring Lou in to keep Bernie honest…

PT,
Yes, this is what happens when I am put in the position of entertaining myself
Obviously IITM crew need to get back on air PDQ.
Laree,
Tornado in Alabama? That movement sounds more like an earthquake (we have those here too, ya know.)
Chan’s the Man…happy birthday, guy.
Frec,
Bobby Bright might out conservative, his republican apponent.
I lived in Alabama through the Jim Folsom Jr., years, and then there was Fob James and Don Siegelman I think my sister shared an office with Siegelman’s wife, that is an old memory in Montgomery anyway. Remember Fob James response to evolution being taught in the Alabama Pubilc School system, he did his best imitation of an ape as he walked across the stage. The folks in the audience wearing “don’t monkey with my children” buttons BIG GRIN
Not one of those Governors, went unscathed in public office. They named a building after Folsom didn’t they at Auburn University? They didn’t change the name? I still remember that 10 cent state gasoline tax to pay for highway project for interstate trucking Folsom enacted. That has to be paid for by now did they repeal that tax?
I have been watching the National news, something about Voter Fraud crackdown in Alabama. There is nothing like Alabama politics that’s for sure. I do miss Voting with the dearly departed, the quick and the dead LOL.
But can you use Canned Heat to cook Hot Tuna?
PT,
You can tune a piano, you can’t tuna fish

For others that are interested I will be posting the Lanny Davis and Alan Colmes interview to selected members who have opted in. From Today’s “Bernie In the Morning Show”
Filling in for J. Donald Imus until this coming Monday.
frec, mike, thanX for the kind thoughts…
Mike #94 – I love the Mark Twain quote.
Samuel Clemmons thanks you-stdomsgirl
Here’s another one, that I just found, for you —stdomsgirl …
“Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you’ve never been hurt and live like it’s heaven on Earth.”
Mark Twain
I think you’ll like this one, too.
Happy Day After Chanx! Hope your celebration was fun and that there are no painful aftereffects
May be behind the times, but checked RFD this am and Imus “vacation schedule” has changed. It appears, as previously suggested on Truth, that the Iman will be on the week of the 25th. ‘Spose this could be in response to the heavy advertising of Mourning Smoe’s and his new friend HF Jr’s upcoming coverage of the convention?
Mike – Thanks for the reminder. Dance was on my work computer for 8 yrs. Some days was the thing that got me thru….
The Chinese
Jasper Becker
China from the inside…provides a general introduction to the people of China, taking the reader on a journey from the poorest, those living in remote mountainous regions, to the most powerful families in the campital.

Sorry the last segment ran over, got to go… Bernie should get this guy back someday when Jasper’s hotel room isn’t bugged!
ThanX mtnherbal, The celebration goes on! Dinner tonight at a favorite restaurant.
Guest Monica Crowley
Monica suggests Warner touch her knee? Bring it over.
Talks about Prez Bush at the Olympic opening ceremony. He should be there, Prez made a strong statement regarding China just prior to arriving. According to Monica, China had committed to human rights with the Olympic Games. They did not live up to the process, in fact went the other way. Chinese have staved off a revolution by opening up the economy while retaining centralized political control. US interest regarding China? Economic.
Where’s George Clooney regarding Chinese ally Sudan at the Olympics? Bernie wants to know why Clooney doesn’t throw himself under a tank!
Monica claims the Obama campaign is incapable of laughing at itself. She offers as comparison McCain’s reaction to the “wrinkled, white haired guy” Hilton video.
Bernie final question, “Will NBC cover the Republican Convention this year?”
This is making the rounds, Making fun of “Dark Knight” Batman.

Here is the comment purporting to be me on Imus Truth. As you may know or maybe not, my wife is recovering from an operation. Around 5PM I get very tired, thus I usually take a nap.
I was on the couch until 11:30PM EDT. So this ignorant comment by the troll was not only not me, but this person couldn’t even spell comment correctly.
So sorry for the commennts above. Even though Mel is a sex addict and Ree is a Lesbian, I should not have made those comments.
Bruce in case it doesn’t show.

Sheesh! I sure do wish that I could get back on IT! I miss the stupid postings!
Bruce,
I knew as soon as I saw that disgusting post that it was a fake. Even when you are angry, you have never stooped to such low class, no class “humor.” You are a gentleman.
Hope your wife is mending well.
Bernie Mac died that is so sad he was soo funny. I used to watch his tv show all the time . My husband and I both thought he was funny. God Bless & Rest In Peace.
Thank you Frec. Troll are rampant over at IT and when I saw that post my blood pressure rose. Reported it to TypePad as Ree has done. So if you know anyone by email please tell them the real truth. Now some sad news.

Bernie Mac ~ Rest in Peace.
I just got through reading this interview of Robert Downey Jr. in RollingStone Mag. Matt Taibbi has a new article out, he has been following the Money.
I bought a hard copy, I really like Robert Downey Jr., he was good in Ironman. I think he is going to be better in Tropic Thunder.

If you scroll down the I Man myspace page, there is a trailer for “Tropic Thunder” I think it is coming out Aug 12th.

Happy Belated Birthday Channel!
Best Wishes to your wife Bruce!
I enjoyed Mark Simone on Saturday morning but unfortunately could not arrange my schedule so I could hear what his Saturday evening show was like. Thank you again Channel for telling me where to find more of Mark Simone. I hope the pattern of substituting for Imus continues with Mark and Warner Wolf for 3 days and then Bernie for the other 2 days.

John Edwards is a liar and cheat who has mastered the sleazy art of hypocrisy
Sunday, August 10th 2008, 9:18 PM
John Edwards, who seems to lie to stay in practice, actually told the truth about himself one night while he was still a candidate for President. He was on a stage with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and the question was about whether Edwards wanted to discuss the biggest sin he had ever committed.
“The list is too long,” he said.
But he sure knew what was at the top of the list. He knew and his wife, Elizabeth, who is worth a hundred of him, knew. So did a former Manhattan party girl, a graduate of the barstools at Nell’s named Rielle Hunter. But Edwards wasn’t going to tell the world about his affair because he was still living in a dream world, lying big to himself now, thinking no one would ever discover that in the early days of his presidential campaign he was another slob politician under the impression that there was one morality for him and another for the rest of us.
