Imus Biden The Last Dance..
CHANX CliffsNotes
April 2007 Imus, predicts the presidential race would be between Biden and McCain. He was not off by much!
Biden admits Obama and Clinton take the air out of the room.
According to Senator Biden the Edward’s decision to stay in the race is a personally tough decision. Little did we know what was under the sheets.
Biden cursing like a sailor, asks Imus for help to get 2,500 MRAP Humvees (Bomb Proof) into IRAQ by end of year. Joe Biden cutting through the “crap” credits Imus for all the work he is doing for the military, “Imus and Oprah change things”. These MRAPS are a “big damn deal”. US ended up purchasing a lot of these vehicles which cut down on casualties.
Imus: Any end in sight for this war?
Biden: There is no end. Only solution is political. This administration is continuing to adhere to a failed idea that is a strong central government in Baghdad dominated by the Shia. Senator Joe Predicts based on history that; 1)either one side wins and kills off the other or 2) the return of a dictatorship, or 3) US occupies the region like the British Empire, or 4)separate the parties like Kosovo (Biden preferred)
Joe Biden did not count on the 5th option. John McCain’s counter-insurgency strategy, retrospectively this turned out to be the correct choice.
In all things Imus, March 2007 marked Biden’s last appearance on the program.
On April 20, 2007 MSNBC reported Joe Biden blaming Virginna Tech and Imus on Newt Gingrich and the Republicans…
He said Republicans – from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to President Bush and White House political adviser Karl Rove – had “wallowed in the politics of polarization.”
“I would argue, since 1994 with the Gingrich revolution, just take a look at Iraq, Venezuela, Katrina, what’s gone down at Virginia Tech, Darfur, Imus. Take a look. This didn’t happen accidentally, all these things”

Go Obama/Biden! Rout the war criminals ~ Bush etal.
I can’t believe that Obama and Biden talked about how broken the country is. It’s the worst ever, etc.
Just WHO is running Congress? The Democrat controlled Congress is mucking things up. I gather they are hoping the average voter is too stupid to figure that out. No wonder the libs don’t want to fix the public schools.
I’d like to know what Imus thinks about team Obama’s idea to attack McCain’s house(s).
Why didn’t Obama pick a woman? Hillary’s mean-faced, clipped-haired supporters will be as mad as hell.
Yeah that’s what I’m talking about. I did mess up that comment, last thread people who appear on teevee shouldn’t throw stones, there is usually a video recording;) It’s a good thing you learned, Ree Speak Channelxrfr.
As much as I love Biden and I’ve been a big Biden Fan for years, this choice is wrong for some very good reasons.
First I understand why it was made, to shore up Senator Obma’s perceived lack of experience in foreign affair’s and national security. I understand where being that this is Senator McCain’s perceived strengths the Obama campaign felt it was important however it would have been just as effective to name Senator Joe and or Bill Richardson (not to mention Bill Bradley) as presumptive cabinet level apointments such as Secretary of State or National Security Director.
The problem is that it really doesn’t answer either of Senator Obama’s two biggest failings.
The first being lack of executive experience. There is a big difference between deciding policy and executing said policy. It’s the reason that America has elected former/sitting governors more often than former/sitting legislators.
The second is it does nothing to placate those disenfranchised Clinton supporters. The swing in every recent election has been the “Soccer Mom” vote that Clinton appealed to and tat has felt alienated since.
People want change and people want new ideals and after 35 years in the Senate it will be hard to present Joe Biden as either.
If McCain were to counter the choice of Biden by choosing JC Watts, Kay Bailey Huthinson, or Condi Rice to counter the argument that he’s pale, male and stale, watch out we could have a whole new ball game.
I found something for Joe Biden’s I pod since he is going to be playing Obama’s tune with the “verbal violence nonsense”
After watching this video it made me think of the lyrics to the Ludacris song, get back…get back, get back, you don’t know me like that.

PT, They need to mend fences, Imus has been back on air since Dec so….who do they think listens and watches Imus? This isn’t rocket science.
I just read that Biden got the phone call from Obama on Thursday while undergoing a root canal. I am chuckling because I was at my dentist’s also on Thursday, and noted a new and prominent sign that read “Thank you for not using your cell phone in the office.” I’m trying to visualize his dentist telling Biden to hang up the phone.
“I would argue, since 1994 with the Gingrich revolution, just take a look at Iraq, Venezuela, Katrina, what’s gone down at Virginia Tech, Darfur, Imus. Take a look. This didn’t happen accidentally, all these things”
Looking at this quote as is…I have no doubt that Biden was not maligniing Imus in any way…but was pointing out what horrors the Republicans under the Gingrich revolution.
Somebody is really reaching here.
“Joe Biden did not count on the 5th option. John McCain’s counter-insurgency strategy, retrospectively this turned out to be the correct choice.”
As far as option #5 goes and the collective wisdom of McCain and the fight on the insurgency…the Sunnis got to that conclusion and put it into reality long before McCain. In fact, if the Sunnis had NOT reached that conclusion and acted on it…the surge would have failed.
Funny thing, is what is happening right now in Iraq. Maliki and the Shiite forces are disbanding those very same Sunni patrols that made the near peace in that country feasible.
Go figure.
“The so-called “Sons of Iraq” were the marquee symbol of the positive turn-around in the Iraqi civil war, at least in the American edition of the war’s narrative. They were Sunni insurgents who switched sides. They’d been killing American soldiers, fighting alongside al-Qaeda in Iraq, but got disillusioned by al-Qaeda’s brutality. Between the Sons of Iraq and the “surge,” the war turned from what Gen. David Petraeus, the outgoing commander of American forces in Iraq, termed “a pretty dire situation” to “very substantial gains.”
The reality is a little different–and it may be about to explode in the American occupation’s face now that the newly muscled Shiite government of Nouri Kamal al-Maliki is ordering sweeping arrests of “Sons of Iraq.”

The above is from an interesting article, “Biden and McCain, Rivals Again” detailing the relationship between the two senators over the years.
P.T.
I know Imus had (and still has a few) very influential people on the show. He reached a very diverse audience.
As far as McCain and Biden…they have been on the same page many a time, and in diametrically opposition on others.
Joe Bidens’ assessment on the partitioning of Iraq was correct. To leave the country in Malikis’ hands with a Shiite majority government in place is a time bomb with a short fuse…. as in “when we (American Troops) leave”.
These people have been fighting for thousands of years. Without a centrist Government in place with all three cultures (Sunni, Shiite, and Kurdish) with fair and equal stake in Governing, safe areas to peacefully exist, and revenue sharing…nothing the U.S. has done will amount to anything…except prolonging the inevitable clashes that will erupt when we leave…if we leave.
In other words, we might have saved trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives (ours and theirs) in Iraq, if we had just dropped Civics Books all over their land…instead of bombs.
August 23, 2008
BAGHDAD — An emboldened Iraqi government has launched an aggressive campaign to disband a U.S.-funded force of Sunni Arab fighters that has been key to Iraq’s fragile peace, arresting prominent members and sending others into hiding or exile as their former patrons in the American military reluctantly stand by.
The Shiite Muslim-led government has long distrusted the fighters, many of whom are former insurgents. Senior Shiite politicians label some of the members murderers, and warn that there is no long-term obligation to employ them after their units are disbanded.

I hear ya, It’s all about how we back out of Eden..What did Eve know we don’t
“Amid fears that the Sunnis’ treatment could rekindle Iraq’s insurgency, the Americans are caught between their wish to support the fighters and their stronger ties to Maliki’s government, which has challenged the Sunni paramilitaries in recent months as it grows increasingly confident about its fledgling army.
“We want to have our cake and eat it too, support Maliki and the Sons of Iraq. . . . Maliki wants to make that as hard for us as possible. He wants us to choose him,” said Stephen Biddle, a Council on Foreign Relations defense expert who has served as an advisor on strategy to Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq. “What it looks like we are getting is a Maliki government that won’t behave itself and wants to crush the Sons of Iraq.”
…from The L.A. Times story link above.
My point in these breaking developments is…yes, Joe Biden was absolutely correct on how to get out of a wretched mess an idiot led our country into…and try and salvage it into a WORKABLE solution. At this point, even that proposition may now have passed us by.
Peggy Noonan is an arch-conservative Republican, yet, I applaud the ‘left-handed’ compliment to Joe Biden ~1/12/06 in the Wall Street Journal as posted above. Joe is a charming Irish Catholic guy. Case closed. {Am I showing my bias with my tongue in my cheek?} – lol.
This is a quote from my daughter on her myspace page.
“After the war, the plan is to divide Iraq into three parts … regular, premium, and unleaded.”
NY Times reports John McCain doesn’t own any houses! Turns out Cindy McCain owns 10 homes. Not the 7 homes claimed by in an Obama campaign ad.
Why is this have a complex question?
1) Some homes are investment properties as part of investment properties totally separate from Johnny Mac.
2) Some of these homes are adjacent properties or in the same condominium complexes and used by guests such as family.
3) Some of these homes are occupied by family such as Cindy McCain’s elderly aunt.
John McCain deferred the answer to the number of houses he and Cindy owned and it’s fairly obvious why, Cindy McCain’s finances are independent of John’s so he did not have the answer at his finger tips. The answer is in the definition as to how one counts the number of houses (John and Cindy occupied, investment properties, adjacent properties, or family occupied).
Which brings up an interesting point. Cindy McCains elderly aunt lives in a house owned by Cindy and Barry O’s brother George lives in a hut. Hut Sweet Hut?

This is what Cindy McCain is up to, and it didn’t just start over night. Obviously she could sit back put her feet up and have a beer but she doesn’t.

The “Surge” was a US led counter-insurgency strategy that enabled the Sunni’s to come back in and play a role in the security of the country. The surge enabled the Iraqi Army to train up and deploy with US troops and eventually on their own.
The only reason why the Iraqis government can even contemplate a US draw down is the success of the surge. Notwithstanding Obama’s unwillingness to acknowedge the fact.

From the American Thinker:
Our invasion of Iraq was not based on a public relations drive; it was based on Public Law 107-243, otherwise known as the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq, passed by the 107th Congress in October of 2002 . (Herein referred to as the “Authorization”.) It passed the House with a vote of 296 to 133 (by 69%) and the Senate with a vote of 77 to 23 (by 77%), including 58% of Senate Democrats. In short, it was overwhelming; it was bipartisan; and it was law.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/08/who_lied_about_iraq.html
Makes you wonder when Russia’s Parliament debated the Georgia invasion. Come to think of it I don’t recall the UN debate either.
For those interested in the truth instead of unneccesary name calling:
The True Story
The Bush administration did not lie. Saddam’s Iraq was a threat to the US that demanded the use of military force. That was not just Bush’s “cowboy” opinion; that was the written law, passed by huge and bipartisan margins in both houses of Congress. That opinion was supported by both pre-war intelligence and post-war intelligence.
Moreover, the “legal case” was solid and Iraq was given chance after chance after chance.
The authorization noted at least 10 UN resolutions, spread out over a decade, to justify the use of US military force.
The Authorization noted that “the President has authority under the Constitution to take action in order to deter and prevent acts of international terrorism against the United States, as Congress recognized in … Public Law 107-40.” [Emphasis added.]
The Authorization noted Public Law 105-235 (passed under President Clinton) that urged the President “to take appropriate action, in accordance with the Constitution and relevant laws of the United States, to bring Iraq into compliance with its international obligations.”
The invasion of Iraq was arguably the most justified case of military action the US has ever taken in its history, based on national defense, validated intelligence and legal authority, not to mention morality. Articles of impeachment would have made more sense if Bush had not invaded.
That the exact opposite story is what a majority of Americans appear to believe, and a super-majority of non-Americans, is a scary thought. The truth has been sabotaged, and not by President Bush or his allies
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/08/who_lied_about_iraq.html
“That opinion was supported by both pre-war intelligence and post-war intelligence.”
…and thank The Lord, we got the bastard and seized those weapons of mass destruction that were an imminent threat to our national security.
My stepson, who served two tours in Iraq (becoming disabled near the end of that second tour by a I.E.D.) as Marine Special Operations, tells me a different story. I tend to believe him more than “pre-war intelligence and post-war intelligence.”
Surprising to me (as he has been a hard core Republican all his life)…he quite frankly told me that Joe Biden had the correct solution to the mess that ensued after some of the most bungled military adventures in recent American history.
Thing is, we don’t seem to learn from anything. We still put all of our eggs in one basket by supporting the lesser of many evils, and hoping for some type of “honorable victory”.
Whether it be Musharraf in Pakistan, or Maliki in Iraq, or even as far back as the Iraq / Iran War…Saddam Hussein.
Is this the post war “intelligence” you quote and speak of?
“In October 2002, a few days before the U.S. Senate voted on the Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq, about 75 senators were told in closed session that Saddam Hussein had the means of attacking the eastern seaboard of the U.S. with biological or chemical weapons delivered by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).[31] On February 5, 2003, Colin Powell presented further evidence in his Iraqi WMD program presentation to the UN Security Council that UAVs were ready to be launched against the U.S. At the time, there was a vigorous dispute within the US military and intelligence community as to whether CIA conclusions about Iraqi UAVs were accurate.[81] In fact, Iraq’s UAV fleet was never deployed and consisted of a handful of outdated 24.5-foot (7.5 m) wingspan drones with no room for more than a camera and video recorder, and no offensive capability.[82][83] Despite this controversy, the Senate voted to approve the Joint Resolution on 11 October 2002 providing the Bush Administration with the legal basis for the U.S. invasion.

Do you REALLY want to know WHERE Iraq got those “weapons of mass destruction” from?
“According to a Senate Committee Report of 1994 [1]: From 1985, if not earlier, through 1989, a veritable witch’s brew of biological materials were exported to Iraq by private American suppliers pursuant to application and licensing by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Amongst these materials, which often produce slow, agonizing deaths, were: Bacillus Anthracis, cause of anthrax. Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin. Histoplasma Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord and heart. Brucella Melitensis, a bacteria that can damage major organs. Clotsridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing systemic illness. Clostridium tetani, highly toxigenic. Also, Escherichia Coli (E.Coli); genetic materials; human and bacterial DNA. Dozens of other pathogenic biological agents were shipped to Iraq during the 1980s.
The Senate Report pointed out: “These biological materials were not attenuated or weakened and were capable of reproduction.” [2] “It was later learned,” the committee revealed, “that these microorganisms exported by the United States were identical to those the United Nations inspectors found and removed from the Iraqi biological warfare program.”[3]
These exports continued to at least November 28, 1989 despite the fact that Iraq had been reported to be engaging in chemical warfare and possibly biological warfare against Iranians, Kurds, and Shiites since the early 80s.”

Doing the right thing is seldom popular and never easy. Dems only seem to want to do the popular and easy thing.
Biden is either a surrender at all cost Dem, or we hate GWB so much we will sacrifice the security of our country to make him look bad Dem.
Was freeing 30 million bodies and souls from tyranny a ‘mistake’? Was helping 30 million people regard America —and the world in a very different light than before a ‘mistake’? Was freeing millions of girls, women and kids from a suppressive anti-Western thought police a ‘mistake’? Was helping France and England in WWII a ‘mistake”?
Tell it to the women who can vote and work and run their households and the girls who can go to school because the USA is the leader of freedom in the world.
The charge that Iraq was no threat is another false claim of the Democratic attack on America’s war to defend itself. Typical of Democratic Party leaders, former vice president Al Gore now says that “Iraq posed no threat” because it was a “fragile and unstable” nation. But if this were true, the same argument would apply to Afghanistan on September 10, 2001. Afghanistan is half the size of Iraq and a much poorer and unstable nation; it has no oil and its government did not invade two countries and use chemical weapons on its own citizens as Saddam did. Yet by providing a safe harbor to terrorists, Afghanistan made possible the murder of 3,000 Americans in half an hour and allowed Osama bin Laden to do what the Germans and the Japanese failed to accomplish in six years of the Second World War: kill Americans on the American soil. That’s why in February 2002, a year before the war in Iraq, Al Gore was saying that “Iraq is a virulent threat in a class by itself” and that President Bush should “push the limit” to do what was necessary to deal with Saddam Hussein.

William Blum is a controversial political writer and book author whose writing is critical of American foreign policy. In his written work, he attempts to bring attention to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and its work around the world, which he sees as a force for evil. Blum’s general theme revolves around the concept that the U.S., as the world’s dominant and sole superpower, uses military force, political assassinations, and other unethical means to get what it wants.
Blum says he is a Socialist and counts himself as a supporter of Ralph Nader’s Green Party and Independent presidential campaigns.

I know who William Blum is…did you know where Iraq obtained it’s biological and chemical weapons?
“Afghanistan is half the size of Iraq and a much poorer and unstable nation; it has no oil and its government did not invade two countries and use chemical weapons on its own citizens as Saddam did. Perhaps we should have ended that particular war, and brought to justice the perpetrators of the most heinous crime against America since Pearl Harbor…before trying to turn Iraq into a modern day democratic “Arizona”?
1970: Chemical weapon production research begins in Iraq
1971: Chemical warfare research begins in Iraq
1980: Iraq invades Iran, touching off 8 year war in which both sides use chemical weapons. United States backs Iraq against Iran’s Islamic revolutionary government

Donald, I’m not following the argument…
Does this mean Saddam’s Iraq was any less of a threat? Or The US action was illegal? Or the vote authorizing the action was not bi-partisan?
Didn’t see yellow cake on the list, where did Iraq’s yellow cake come from?
Joe Bidens’ assessment on the partitioning of Iraq was correct.

If thats the case (cough, cough) if Obamba/Obiden and the left were honest they should go over to Iraq before the people and apologize to them for taking out their murderous dictator/warlord along with his murderous sons/heirs. Withdrawn all support for the democracy they now have, divide the country into three countries, as Biden wants, each one ruled by Saddam’s relatives now in hiding.
BO said Friday that we have been poor examples to the world as in Russia’s invasion of a Democratic country in Georgia.
That’s the Black Liberation Theology coming out of him it’s not freedom loving Americanism.
Please do not assume that I am a Democrat…or for that matter, a Republican, or an Independent. I have voted for all three parties in my life. I do not subscribe to ideology, nor any particular political platform. I’m more interested in historical facts, honesty, integrity and the rights of those less fortunate… I also don’t subscribe to “Nationalism”, “Patriotism” or “Religion ism”.
I am by birth, an American citizen. That, to me is a responsibility to give back something to my country, but certainly not my mind and soul. My mind and soul did not come from this country, but a Creator that I cannot fathom, nor define.
If asked to give up my life in sacrifice to my country, would I? Yes…I would. BUT: do not lie to me. Do not deceive me. Because then a life is not worth being snuffed out, and makes a mockery of the sanctity of all peoples lives.
I am not a member of the”proud to be (fill in the blank)” mindset, or anything that I have by some odd chance to have been born into. I have always championed free thinking, inquisitive thinking, asking hard questions, seeking out truths…and if answers don’t ring quite true to my core being…seek out the facts and truths on my own wherever they can be found, no matter how troubling those truths might end up to be.
In other words..I’m not your typical “sheeple”.

“How did Iraq get chemical weapons?”
http://www.cryan.com/war/
In the 1980s the United States was on friendly terms with Iraq, during the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Senior. In 1983, while Reagan was in office, Peter Beinart suggests in his article that appeared in the February 24th, 2003 edition of New Republic, that the United States knew that Saddam was using chemical weapons almost daily but did not seem to care. Instead, Reagan sent Donald Rumsfeld to the Middle East with the task of restoring diplomatic relations. By 1984, the same year Iraq deployed the nerve gas tabin, the United States and Iraq had successfully restored diplomatic relations.
According to Beinart, “…the United States sold Iraq anthrax, bubonic plague, and botulinum toxin all for medical research.” Under the Reagan administration United States foreign policy was opposed to Iran’s Islamic fundamentalist government.
There was action taken to try and prevent this aid to Iraq. Claiborne Pell at the time was a Senator from Rhode Island successfully sponsored a Senate bill that would have stopped all aid from the United States to Baghdad. President Reagan and his Administration took efforts to make sure it did not pass the House of Representatives.

NEWS FLASH !!!There isn’t going to be any Obama or Biden…..
Lafayette Hill, Pa…8/21/08 ~ Philip J. Berg. Esquire…Democrat and former Attorney General of Pennsylvania with a stack of substantial other credentials, has filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction preventing Obama from pursuing the Presidency stating that he produced a forged document (his half sisters birth certificate) to prove his citizenship and that in fact he was born in Kenya and has dual citizenships in Kenya and Indonesia. He neglected to become a citizen when he entered the United States and turned 18. Evidently there are several birth certificates for Senator Obama including the forged one. One from Kenya (the one with the earliest date), two from Hawaii stating he was born in two different hospitals four days after he was born in Kenya. For the complete report go to obamacrimes.com. There are links to the court documents on the site. THIS IS COMING FROM THE DEMOCRATIC SIDE….AND OF COURSE THE ELITE NEWS HAS NOT SAID A WORD ABOUT IT. Obama is headed for a disaster !

Is this what it is going to be like till November?
Biden was the best choice and yes like everyone else I have stated I would flip the ticket. Biden is a solid centrist. I for one am comforted by the choice. One of these Men is going to be the next President I would like them to Govern from the solid center of the majority of Americans not the Fringe.
Now do I think we should stop busting Biden’s chops about his Imus…ah lets call them “remarks” absolutely not. Biden doesn’t need protecting, he is very capable of looking out for himself.
I like Biden but I don’t put Politicians up on pedestals or altars, then worship them. If I was going to idolizes someone, I don’t think I would be choosing by their vocation, and if I did it wouldn’t be by “politics”. I appreciate, that there are people, who have gone into politics, someone had to. But has anyone seen where a politician rates on many people’s scale per vocation the stats?
I guess this would be a good representation of politicians, you know the cleaner and dentist fish, who clean the bigger fish. They have a symbiotic relationship. Our Country which amounts to U.S. – We the People, would be the big fish, and the cleaner and dentist fish, would be the politicians
I thought this went nice with Joe Biden, being informed he was selected for the VP slot, on the Dem side, while he was getting a root canal.

Yea, great pick! LOL
Sen. Joe Biden’s gotten a lot of unsolicited advice on how to curb his gaffe habit, but he might start by practicing his running mate’s name.
Three times during his inaugural speech as Barack Obama’s vice presidential candidate Saturday, Biden butchered Obama’s name — in different ways.
Biden called Obama “Barackal Bama” and “Barack Obaman,” as well as — perhaps most bizarre — “Barack America.”

No matter whose side your on, you gotta admit how funny this is!
NYT reported today Joe Biden was accompanying his wife to the dentist where she had the root canal. Not for nothing but you have to like the guy for that.

I was reading another story, I thought they stated he was getting the root canal. I think the Bidens, are a happy couple. I have been following his son Beau’s progress, he is scheduled to go to Iraq. McCain’s son is serving too, a Marine I believe. How did Imus get it right so long ago, when this campaign season was getting under way, he was saying McCain or Biden…weird Biden is on the Dem Ticket. Imus called it, close enough for me because like I stated above, I would flip the ticket.
Biden took call in dentist chair. Root canal interrupted by Obama

goiman
I wonder now which it was? The one I read was that he was in the denist chair…
From the very start of the campaign, I had my heart set on a “Biden/Obama” ticket. Given the alternative choices…I can settle for what is.
” Joe Biden got the call from Barack Obama while accompanying his wife as she was getting a root canal.
As he waited in the dentist office Thursday, Biden’s cell phone rang with the presidential candidate’s invitation to be his running mate.”

“It turns out Joe Biden was not sitting in a dentist chair undergoing a root canal when he got the word that he’d been picked as Barack Obama’s running mate. The campaign now says Biden was in a Delaware dentist’s office Thursday, but it was his wife who was getting the root canal.”
http://www.whnt.com/Global/story.asp?S=8890478
Actually makes more sense that he was with his wife. Its fairly difficult to talk while undergoing a root canal procedure. Of course we are talking about “Joe the Lip”.
The ticket is upside down. No matter how you cut it the person the least qualified person will be calling the shots.
Looks like the Biden pick is not going well with Hillary followers

“The ticket is upside down. No matter how you cut it the person the least qualified person will be calling the shots.”
I agree with your assessment, to a point. However, he was “qualified” enough to ask a sterling individual of 36 years in the senate with some pretty good credentials and a history of good judgment to be his V.P. pick. Biden accepted that offer.
If the Biden pick is an indication of the statesmen Obama will choose to put into the White House to help him govern, that speaks volumes to me.
He has a long history of making statements that get him in trouble. He was forced to apologize to Mr. Obama almost the moment he entered the race for president after he was quoted as describing Mr. Obama as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” a remark that drew criticism for being racially insensitive. While campaigning in New Hampshire, Mr. Biden said that “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”
Mr. Biden quit the presidential race this year after barely making a mark; he came in fifth in Iowa. He was forced to quit the 1988 presidential race in the face of accusations that he had plagiarized part of a speech from Neil Kinnock, the British Labor Party leader
Guess Obama needed a “typical white person”.
Biden is not a running mate – he’s a sidekick. A buffoonish clod that makes the hero of the story seem all the more heroic. Biden’s shortcomings will only serve to make Obama look good by comparison.
Biden has been the perenial bridesmaid at the Presidential altar. He’s been running for President for over 20 years, and has never mustered more than nominal support from Democrats let alone the American electorate.

Undisciplined Statements And Actions Have Raised Concern:
“[B]iden’s Mouth Has Gotten Him Into Trouble Before.” (Beth Fouhy, “Biden Fields Questions About ‘08 Rivals,” The Associated Press, 2/1/07)
As Biden Was Gearing Up For His Candidacy, A Friend Said He Needed More Discipline. “‘You talk too much and you say things without thinking about them.’ [Norman] Ornstein, a friend and admirer, told the senator as he was gearing up for his candidacy. ‘I know I’ve got to be more disciplined,’ Biden replied.” (Robert Shogan, “Biden Quits Race, Cites Mistakes,” Los Angeles Times, 9/24/87)
“‘He Has A Tendency To Over-Explain That Doesn’t Inure To His Political Benefit,’ Acknowledges Larry Rasky, Who Will Be Communications Director For Biden’s Presidential Campaign.” (Jonathan Broder, “Betting On Being A Global Expert,” Congressional Quarterly Weekly, 1/12/07)
In July, Biden Said Proponents Of Offshore Drilling Want To “Rape” The Outer Continental Shelf. “‘I think this is a last-ditch effort to go out and rape the offshore continental shelf, so that they own it and are able to use it as leverage in the future, because they know if they don’t get it in the last couple of months of this administration, they’re not going to get it,’ Biden said.” (Jeff Montgomery, “Biden Rips Bush On Energy,” The [Wilmington, DE] News Journal, 7/15/08)
Biden’s Issues With Exaggeration And Self-Discipline Have Marred His Credibility In The Past:
Biden’s Bid For The Presidency In ‘88 Is Still Especially Poignant. “[A]s a candidate for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination, Biden withdrew from the race in 1987 amid accusations that he had plagiarized passages in a campaign speech from former British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock.” (Beth Fouhy, “Biden Fields Questions About ‘08 Rivals,” The Associated Press, 2/1/07)
In 1987, Biden Plagiarized Speech By British Labor Leader Neil Kinnock. “Kinnock told of ancestors who played football after long days underground in the mines, who recited poetry and paved the way for him to become the first in his family to attend college. When he saw a tape of Kinnock in action, Biden said, … ‘it was a connect. I mean, I could tell how that man felt. That’s how I feel.’ So he used it – changing the names but little else – at a debate last month in Iowa.” (John Harwood, “Biden’s Way With Words Now Seems To Be A Liability,” St. Petersburg Times, 9/20/87) “But Instead Of Crediting Kinnock, He Told The Audience He Thought Of It On The Way To The Debate.” (John Harwood, “Biden’s Way With Words Now Seems To Be A Liability,” St. Petersburg Times, 9/20/87) Biden Acknowledged Kinnock Speech Didn’t Fit His Circumstances “Perfectly.” “Biden acknowledged Kinnock’s language didn’t fit his family perfectly. His father was in used car sales, his grandfather was a mining engineer. But he had been told and ‘assumed’ that other relatives had worked in the mines. And, ‘to make it clear,’ members of his mother’s family had, indeed, been to college.” (John Harwood, “Biden’s Way With Words Now Seems To Be A Liability,” St. Petersburg Times, 9/20/87)
Biden Withdrew From The 1988 Presidential Race Under Charges Of Plagiarism And Embellishment, Saying, “Now The Exaggerated Shadow Of Those Mistakes Has Begun To Obscure The Essence Of My Candidacy And The Essence Of Joe Biden.” (”Biden Bows Out Of Race, Blames His Own Mistakes,” Los Angeles Times, 9/23/87)
Biden “Developed A Serious Credibility Problem.” “Democrat Joe Biden is a compelling orator, but he developed a serious credibility problem after questions surfaced about plagiarism and possible falsifications of his academic record.” (Rich Hood, Op-Ed, “Ashcroft Hindered In His Quest For The Top,” The Kansas City [MO] Star, 8/31/97)
Biden Was Also Accused Of Plagiarism At Syracuse Law School. “[B]iden soon ran into trouble at Syracuse Law. He was accused of plagiarism after lifting five pages from a law review article for a course paper. But his pleading – ‘I implore you, don’t take my honor’ – convinced the dean to let him stay in school, take the course over, and wipe the slate clean.” (John Harwood, “Biden’s Way With Words Now Seems To Be A Liability,” St. Petersburg Times, 9/20/87)
Biden Admitted Some Of His Claims About Academic Achievements Were Untrue. “Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr., his Democratic presidential campaign battered by charges of plagiarism in his campaign speeches and in a law school paper, admitted yesterday that some of his boasts about his college academic achievements were untrue, including the claim that he had finished in the top half of his class in law school.” (James R. Dickenson, “Biden: Academic Claims ‘Inaccurate,’” The Washington Post, 9/22/87)

Didn’t his first run in ‘88 implode?
KBH, Pro-Life not in favor of over turning Roe V Wade.
They wouldn’t come out swinging so strong at Biden if they didn’t realize his strengths. That said, I feel better now when McCain doesn’t shoot himself in the foot with his VP pick I will feel even better. These are the two guys one of them is going to be the next President so I want them both up to the task.
You know that list of things Biden has said, if anyone should have some empathy for Imus it is Biden. If Biden treats Imus like his political foe, I am not going to be so impressed. Watch the video, either Biden was bs’ ing Imus or he is playing politics now, either one is plain old wrong. Biden needs to get right with Imus.

Is Texas up for grabs? She was bucking George W Bush at one point, then she feel into line, even when the Conservative Texans were jumping up and down, about our border guards in prison, remember Johnny Sutton. The guy who testified against them a known drug dealer, got immunity turned around did it again, got caught and tried, he is actually going to serve less time then they are…people down here in Texas, are really angry about those two border guards. If McCain is not trying to look like he is following in Bush’s steps I don’t know if she is the best pick.
fell into line.
Women are up for grabs, “Cougars” as Luke Russert infamously labeled middle aged women.
OBAMA’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE – CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN
natvsdgal in coment #48 reporting Obama citizenship challenged by Philip J. Berg, Democrat former Pennsylvania Attorney General.
Recall Bo Dietl saying he was investigating Obama’s citizenship. Maybe we will hear from Bo ( “he doesn’t make a move without me” ) this week.
Imus Truth turns the page
New Thread interesting links

If Obama’s birth certificate checks out…..why is a Democrat suing him and trying to stop him from running? He says it is because the Republicans already have this information and will use it to remove him from the race as soon as he is declared the offical nominee. Then what will the DEMS have? I can tell you….absolutely nothing and Hillary will wait for 2012.
rape the outer continental shelf, isn’t that a little violent language….LOL Now that Biden, is on the ticket it is definitely going to be a lot more FUN. I don’t think we should invent a new drinking game though, you know a shot for every new Biden gaffe, we will all ended up enrolled in a 12 step program……I can hear it now “when did you first notice you had a drinking problem…well I was minding my own business listening to Imus in the Morning” LMAO.
natvsdgal, This Obama citizenship thing is the real deal. Especially like the father side of his claiming he was born in Kenya! What’s with all these names a/k/a?
Now that Biden is the official VP pick, shouldn’t we start calling him by his middle name Robinette, isn’t that a girl’s name ROTF
Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.
Am probably stating the obvious, but noticed Imus was cooling on McCain in his recent statements. Suppose both McCain and Biden have refused to appear as they feel could not benefit them and could only be construed as a liablility?
At this point what does Imus offer to either McCain or Biden? Imus’ success on New York radio is impressive but both the Tri-Sate area is most certainly going to Obama. With the RFD audience insignificant. There you go.
While I appreciate the politics of it, the lack of loyalty is disappointing. Guess you have to expect some losses when it’s hardball time.
Lack of Loyalty I don’t know about that, if Imus distances himself from McCain, isn’t he actually helping McCain..this is politics after all.
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., has no room to criticize Imus. I hope he does get this question asked to him a lot. This was a link from Imus Truth, the last post this is the National Review Online. Imus has an audience besides the radio side he has RFD TV and Rural folks Vote.

BARACK OBAMA, JOE BIDEN
Joe Biden, Obama’s Ambassador to Imus
More fun for an Obama-Biden ticket, if it comes to pass…
Obama, when the whole Don Imus controversy flared up:
“I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus,” Obama told ABC News, “but I would also say that there’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude.”
Obama said he appeared once on Imus’ show two years ago, and “I have no intention of returning.”
Biden, of course, is one of Imus’ most frequent guests (as is McCain). He offered a disapproving statement at that time, of course, but it will be a fun question for that first press availability: Was Obama right to call for your friend Don Imus to be fired?

Randi Rhodes, “The GOP…they are pathetic little men who HATE their lousy nominee Grandpa John McCain.”
Thom Hartmann, “…demonstrates how to talk back to the right wing talking points right-wing talking points–by doing it!”

What say you?
HQ, Looks like it’s going to be really difficult for Senator Biden to land the most outrageous gaffe of all time with the Obama PC crowd as his wing men. getoffmyphone.blogspot.com
Imus today focused the race between an empty suit and guy who doesn’t know how to turn on a PC or how many houses he owns? Imus riding the ridge trail avoids leaning one way or the other.
(Imus reported McCain as owning 7 houses. Johnny Mac actually owns zero houses. His wife Cindy Mac owns 10 houses. Wonder if Imus knows how many pairs of boots Deirdre owns?)
Boots? Probably not, but betcha JDI knows how many houses he owns, she owns and they own together!
I’m sure Imus does know how many houses he owns since he is the sole breadwinner. Point is Cindy Mac’s finances are separate and independent of Johnny Mac’s finances.
Is the Obama campaign saying it is wrong for a wife to have independent or otherwise separate finances?
Personally I think all of this about the houses is just a bunch of political sniping. I would prefer someone who has been financially successful dealing with our multi, multi trillion dollar federal spending (cause it ain’t nothin like any BUDGET I’ve ever seen).
My response was strickly to the boots question and I wonder if Deirdre would agree that Imus is the sole breadwinner
Mtnherbal, Do you think Deidre pulls down a salary from any of the enviro-outfits she is involved in?
We do know who rules the I- Roost, initials are DI but not DJI!
Since they are such philanthropists and are so wealthy, probably not. However, Chanx, as you point out, this appears to be a very healthy “partnership” and one would think she was doing well for herself pre-DJI.
Imus is right about the anarchist protesting, they really need to get with the program, exactly what else happened in 68 they might be trying to recreate? Now the P.U.M.A.S on the other hand are getting louder.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/aug/25/codepink-faces-tough-odds-for-publics-attention/
I don’t know mtnherbal, how much does a personal trainer make?
Although she was fairly committed to her acting career.
Plot thickens…intriguing insights today from Craig Crawford…hope Imus will get him on this week.

Frec, Doesn’t appear the Barrack-Biden ticket has bridged the Hillary gap.
“Deirdre Coleman. The two met in 1992 when Deirdre [25 years younger than Imus] appeared in a fitness-model contest on the “Imus In The Morning” show. They were married on a Navajo Indian Reservation on December 17, 1994. The 5′8″, 120 pound Deirdre was once nick-named “the Animal” by the denizens of Gleason’s Gym, a famous boxing factory in Brooklyn, NY because of her all-out boxing/kickboxing workouts. A former Villinova University track star, Mrs. Imus has been described as a cross between Martha Stewart, Anna Quindlen, Jim Ryan, Oscar de la Hoya, and Cindy Crawford.”
Surely in all this she was making some money :~ }
ChanX,
I’m not sure what their problem is. I guess until Hillary lets go, they won’t. I predict their knickers will be unknotted by week’s end, but they have to go through their “grieving process” first. Remember how long it took for us to accept that Imus was indeed fired? And some of us are still ranting about it.
mtnherbal; One problem with the Deidre Coleman narrative is the coach does not recall her being on the team.
It’s working for the Bickersons err Imus’. Imus is happy and that’s all that matters really.
Frec, Obama needs to close the deal with Hillary supporters fast so he can get on to the independents. Thinking about his difficulty in closing the nomination this will be challenging and the clock is ticking.
ChanX Public Service Announcement there are Free Obama/Biden bumper stickers at moveon.org
The PUMA’s thought they had a last-ditch opportunity to win the game until Saturday. They don’t want to admit Hillary screwed up. And she won’t tell them she did.
Unlike Imus, who did tell us when he screwed up, but even then we didn’t want to accept that our hero could do wrong. It’s just hard to have something important to you snatched away… and you’re powerless over it.
The Obama campaign is going to spend the week ridiculing Cindy McCain and her 10 houses?
Party Unity My Ass, come on now, that is an all American movement
As much as Hillary figured out her message too late, turns out she should have been doing boiler makers all along. Obama is not blameless, there is no need to rub these ladies noses, in his win.

Imus on Biden
He’s a nice guy. But he hasn’t been very good to me. We have cut him more slack on things then ever gave to me.
Biden’s fine, what’s not to like?
Yesterday morning Rob Bartlett just passed out in the parking lot at the Rainbow Studio in midtown. Rob came to managed to get into the studio.
From there he went to St Vincent’s hospital where the doctors found 2 blood clots, one on each lung. One of those clots passed through his heart.
The Doctors also found he has more blood clots in his legs requiring further surgery and treatment.
ChannelXRFR
They can put a filter in his leg, my mom had this procedure they call it an umbrella but he is going to be on blood thinners you can’t put a filter btw the heart and lungs. Imus is talking about surgery on his legs though?
The clot that passed through his heart and didn’t cause further harm, that was a MIRACLE. God Bless you Rob, I am praying for you. Rob don’t go toward the light ….
Clots in the lungs are serious because it effects the heart pumping blood, you know like when you are up to full capacity pumpng blood at a normal rate, the clots effect that so they give you blood thinners.
This is Rob’s myspace page I thought he had a webpage too?
If you have a myspace account you can send a message if he is in your friends section you can leave a comment.

I will post it on Imus Truth, there is an email on Rob’s web page and people can send Rob a message.
I love that John Rich Song Imus is playing you know the one….. if it wasn’t for the good lord and the man we would all be speaking German and living under the flag of Japan….. The CD hasn’t come out yet but I bet it will be a big hit.
That’s incredible news about Rob. Sounds like a pulmonary embolism, a life-threatening condition. Miracle indeed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulmonary_embolism
I’ve got one apparently caught in the filter…in case it doesn’t make it, best wishes to Rob for speedy recovery…
I am thrilled that Imus is on WINZ in Miami. Finally I can experience driving in the car with Imus on. I used to hate having to go anywhere and miss his show.
It just occurred to me if they are performing surgery, there is going to be preparation involved…ah Rob don’t let them give you a Brazilian
Tony and Karith said, they could talk to him yesterday, that has to be a good sign.
Imus has gone over big in Alabama since he came on the Sports Animal -Birmingham, Alabama, the Tide station, there is a big game coming up Clemson vs Tide. I didn’t hear Warner mention the game but when Imus started talking about Rob I was focusing on his condition.

When will it end?
Hey Mr. X
This is a cut and paste from the fivethirtyeigt.com site.
It’s a little different take on the economy, the Biden pick, and brings up a name I’d just about forgotten. The second paragraph is what piqued my interest. Cabbies that speak the King’s English? Is that possible?
The NASCAR Dad of 2008? It Might be The Perot Voter.
In certain ways, this sample-size-of-one stuff is antithetical to what we do around here. But I could not let the convention go by with at least one man-on-the-street perspective.
My cabbie and I had a good conversation about politics yesterday night. Interesting guy; he has a masters’ degree but is driving a cab, and says he knows a lot of people in the same boat. This is going to sound a little xenophobic, but one thing I have noticed in Chicago is that the higher the percentage of taxi drivers that speak English without an accent, the worse off the economy is doing. Lately, I’ve had a lot of cabbies who spoke the King’s English.
He’s a swing voter – white, maybe 53 years old, listens to Air America one night, Rush Limbaugh the next. He isn’t buying what John McCain is selling, and thinks it’s pretty obvious that he’ll take the country in the wrong direction.
But he’s yet to be entirely persuaded by Obama. Likes what Obama has to say. Liked Michelle’s speech. But he feels like he’s heard a lot of the same rhetoric before, and seen too many politicians who couldn’t deliver on it. Says he might vote third party instead, or just sit the election out. He didn’t like the Biden pick, and says a lot of his customers didn’t either. Reinforced too much of his sense that Obama is a typical Washington politican, perhaps well enough intentioned, but like most politicians inclined to overpromise and underdeliver.
He also expressed a great deal of admiration for Ross Perot, particularly Perot’s foresight on NAFTA. And this is one that I have heard before – I had a very similar conversation with a man in Austin, who said in essence that Perot was the only politician he’d trusted in the last thirty years.
Perot’s name still has a lot of currency among certain voters, especially here out West. Perot is not any fan of John McCain, but he’s yet to endorse a candidate. If Perot were to endorse Obama, that would be a very big deal – bigger, perhaps, than any endorsement of the general election campaign, save perhaps for Colin Powell. But even if he doesn’t (and it isn’t likely that he will; Perot made a fairly soft endorsement of Mitt Romney in the Republican primary), the Obama campaign ought to invest some thought into what made the Perot voter tick. I know of at least one vote he’d win that way.
Harley,
This was my reply to that insignificant site you posted regarding Morning Joe and Ifill.
“No one listens to MSNBC. And according to what is happening between Olbermann and Scarborough, it might not be long for Joe Scarborough to be looking for another job.
It will be the Mika in the Morning show because of the mess Olbermann is creating at MSNBC. He has already gotten Tucker Carlson and Dan Abrams looking for other work.
Former sportscaster and baseball card collector (Olbermann) thinks he owns the cable news channel. Watch it Keith. You will be the next to go.”
Don’t believe anything NBC or MSNBC put out. They are all for the Obama parade. And with that said are truly the losing network.
Phil Griffin is the one that pushed Imus to talk with Al Sharpton, or risk his position on MSNBC. That worked out well, didn’t it?

It’s sad when Progressives fight. I mean there is already a split in the party. Obama picked Joe Biden, to remedy the situation but then along comes Nancy Pelosi, who in my opinion, is hell bent on growing the Independent party by turning off Democrats.

You ever wonder about the people who Imus replaces? WINZ liberal talker Nicole Sandler dusted off her blog and discussed her first day away from the radio station along with an interesting narrative of her radio career.. radioornot.blogspot.com
ChannelXRFR
New Media is the way to go. I mentioned it when I posted the link to Monk webisodes, and I don’t think the investment is so steep, it isn’t worth training the next generation up, to accessing Imus in the Morning online. Get in at the start and be a veteran by the time everyone else figures out the wave
Nicole mentions Internet radio, sure if you have a loyal following and name recognition. “Bladerunner” DJ from Oklahoma went Internet Radio, he is in myspace friend section if you want to take a look at his set up.
The thing is every time there is a new media, they keep saying it is going to kill radio but it doesn’t, radio just adapts. The internet this New Media is no exception.
This site has become a Republican site – in support of the bully Bush & now in support of the punk McCain – aka McNasty so-nicknamed in high school {Google it}. We’ve had bullies in the White House for 8 years. I’m amazed that you people want President Punk in the Oval Office.
stdomsgirl
I think name calling is childish and unproductive. I can understand your reluctance to support certain candidates, I certaninly do. There are plently of foul names for the Democrats but what would it produce? Rather, an intelligent conversation of the issues is a better bet. JMO
I’m sure I wll be attacked for this OPINION, but hey, what can you do.
Name calling? LOL – Google it – it’s a fact he proudly claims. PUNK. He was the elitist son of an Admiral – grandson of an Admiral. He loves the nicknames Punk & McNasty.
stdomsgirl, i agree with #144. I was a big Hillary supporter and took in stride all of Imus’ comments about her because I allow for differences of opinion and because I’m an Imus fan. What worries me is that I think Imus is becoming out of touch with what would be good for the middle class. It’s certainly not McCain. Maybe he doesn’t have to care and that’s fine, but I’m in the middle class so I do! Maybe I’m becoming out of touch with Imus?
Imus, having a conversation with himself. Debating the good, the bad and the ugly of both candidates. Every day he attempts to keep the conversation moving forward fawning, criticizing and expressing amazement.
McCain on Punk: “I arrived [at Episcopal] a pretty rambunctious boy, with a little bit of a chip on my shoulder … I was always the new kid, and was accustomed to proving myself quickly at each new school as someone not to be challenged lightly.”
As a military dependent, McCain moved from school to school up till he attended boarding school “Episcopal”. Like many new kids coming to my school, simply a boy being a boy.
