Well, I have to say. As much as I like Imus, he has really humiliated himself with this whole Clinton bashing thing. Despite the best efforts of Imus, Chuck “hillbilly” McCord and Bernie “my head looks like a penis” McGuirk, Hillary won the NH primary, and has humiliated the I-man and his crew.
After Al Sharpton, I know Imus is used to getting slapped around, but this is a wake up call for him. For the past week I have listened to Imus defend the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly. It’s disgracefull. Hannity is a fat coward (just look at the way he was chased out of NH by Ron Paul’s supporters) Limbaugh is a “fat, drug addict” (Imus’s own words), and O’Reilly is a backstabbing puke, who approved on more then one occassion, of Imus’s getting fired. Yet Imus still defends O’Reilly…what a joke.
Imus needs to get his balls out of his wife’s purse (or out of Bernie’s mouth) and stop kissing the asses of people who either betrayed him, or who he is now sucking up to, just because they work for WABC. It’s called courage I-Man….try and get some.
That has to be the sign we left with Charles and fruit loops in June. I have a picture of them holding it. I wonder if Gelb was the guy who chatted with us outside the studio on smoke breaks and told us where to meet Charles Chris and Mike after the show. What a nice guy he was.
Imustimes and ChanX: If you have a short audio stream of that to link on (on Bob Gelb) that would be most appreciated. I only get to watch via RFD and can’t get the last hour of the program. Again…my appreciation and thanks!
I had thought earlier about Imus and RFD. I was speculating it might have been an “End Run” to get Imus launched to a major media player with more connections. I am not at all savvy about how this could work (ChanX would know) but if RFD agreed to launch the show…and then sell the syndication rights…I am just wondering.
Believe RFD is going for TW and CMCST subscribers. Gut feeling RFD has a master agreement with the carriers currently working on getting regional/local management to sign on. (Imus wanted to make the announcement on Jan 2 and was told by Big Foot he could not.) Hopefully we will hear something soon.
Selling the syndicaction rights is probably an exit plan. In other words, if RFD can not get the carriage or otherwise can not meet the business plan RFD would sell the programing to reduce financial exposure.
Imus said one of WABC’s employees was at the window (riffing off of yesterday’s comment that employees could walk across the street and look in the window if they wanted to see the I-Man…). Then he said that’s “Bob Gelb holding up a SupportImus.Org sign”. Laughs all around.
Thanks ChanX on post 19…makes sense. What I am wondering is if Imus and Patrick “made a deal” to use RFD AS a launching pad for the show…and then receive syndication rights for it. In other words…would they (RFD) make more from syndication rights…or a carriage deal? You are the expert…lol…I don’t know much about media business….I just want to know what would be the difference in possible revenue….Thanks!
That was funny as hell. I clicked on the live stream at Imusonair (trying to catch the Bob Gelb comment) and caught the tail end of it. I got off of work early today…and I was hoping to catch the Gelb Comment…but the feed cut out right after Bob Kerry was on…
ribeira, welcome aboard… This is not an “official site” but was created by the webmaster “imustimes” in April 07 and is one of the places that got us through the 8 months.
For new comers this is a temporary site “imustimes” established while he finishes SupportImus.Org Renovations.
donaldinks – Patrick has been clear he wants TW and CMCST carriage (subscribers). Believe the payment for the subs plus advertising revenue would be much greater then a licensing arrangement alone. Come to think of it, the overall value to RFD in all probablitiy would be much greater then the $30M MSNBC was seeing from ad revenue.
RFD could reasonably look at coverng costs with a syndication/licensing deal and maybe a little margin. But by broadcasting Imus they get the ad revenue which is where the upside is, plus the subs, plus the increased audience through cross promotions….
Interesting the way NYDN’s David Hinckley positions WFAN’s ratings for Fall 2007. Using his methodology WFAN should be absolutely giddy!
Look CloserThis table shows Imus’s new home is a stronger presence in the NYC market then WFAN’s. The Table also shows WFAN experiencing a definite drop-off from Fall 06 to Fall 07 surprising since Mike and Mad Dog supposedly grew audience over the period. Suspect WFAN doing a little spin here!
Next ratings book is the one that counts Imus directly up against WFAN!
AKA SL on SI. Just wanted to weigh in at Imus Times. It feels great, looks good, everyone is happy, and we have the IMAN. Life is sweet. Just had some fun loading an avatar, too.
Thanks to all for the continued great thoughts and to Keith for the place to mix.
I wanna run through some of the presidential candidates for you Imus in the Morn’. Just so we’re all on the same when it comes to these idiots, although we all know that you, with the exception of John McCain, would close your eyes and wish them into the cornfield, ya scarecrow-lookin’ crater-faced idiot, bejeez
Speakin’ of McCain, let’s start with him – the only candidate who met his second wife while she was babysittin’ his first wife’s children. Let’s just say he didn’t keep her around for the cookin’, bejeez. And what about Mike Huckabee – just what this country needs, Imus in the Morn’, is some sweaty fat guy campaignin’ around in a skin-tight leotard claimin’ he lost weight by changin’ his diet and increasin’ his exercise. The real way he lost his fat suit was by switchin’ to a diuretic and laxative diet while listenin’ to his own sermons from years gone by, God forgive me. Poor bastard; probably left him as raw as the last cow they slaughtered there on that farm network, bejeez. Next is Mitt Romney – God bless him and his seven wives – who is about as well-spoken as Fabio readin’ a cue card made from pieces of scrap paper stuck together with expired spermicidal jelly, ya antediluvian douche bag bejeez. On the other side is Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, who are dukin’ it out like two ram mountain sheep buttin’ heads. Watchin’ Hillary Clinton give her winnin’ speech last night was like watchin’ grass grow. Just what the American people need is a trifecta from hell – Hillary Clinton as president, Nancy Pelosi as speaker, and that Gladys Kravtiz-lookin’ Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the bench. Then there’s the colored fella with the Jew hatin’ name, livin’ in a fairy tale apparently. One thing’s for sure – he’s given the tuna-lickin’ dingbat a run for her money. If he had his way, he’d be shovin’ her face down on the carpet and makin’ her eat it, but she’d probably enjoy it, bejeez. I know I missed a few in there, Imus in the Morn’, but for one real reason – they’re just so damn irrelevant right now!
It’s time to pray, bejeez, now bow your heads! In the name of the father, son, and holy ghost, another camera at WABC we want the most, Lord hear our prayer. Lord, we pray that Al Sharpton gets another orange jail jump suit, and some fat pig inmate hides his shalaylee where this idiotic scum used to poop, Lord hear our prayer. And finally Lord, we pray that Dennis Kucinich finally goes back to Neptune, and gets the hell off this planet, the stupid crazy loon, Lord hear our prayer.
WHICH DOESN’T BELONG AND WHY!?
Which doesn’t belong and why?
a) Former Senator Trent Lott
b) The Late, Great Senator Strom Thurmond
c) Newly reformed Imus in the Morn’
Answer me that, ya shriveled up bag o’ pus ya, bejeez. Well despite the fact that all three of these mentally-challenged idiots have, at one time or another, uttered racial slurs about their brothers by different mothers, the answer is clearly B, the late, great Senator Strom Thurmond because unlike the other two air-suckin’ mental patients, Strom Thurmond is the only one who actually checked out, with nothin’ let of him but his hand comin’ out of the ground flippin’ the bird to anyone who’ll take notice.
Anybody know what is up with the old sponsor Lumber Liquidators? In April they started a “Rutgers 10 Scholarship” and I haven’t heard anything about them since. They are not on the new show. Whats up with that?
Wow..I think this blog has more comments in one day than supportimus.com had in the last month. I hope this isnt a rebellion or something to Imustruth.com. Its too bad the webmaster there banned some of the more innocent people like donaldinks (why?) along with the guilty parties. At least there is not constant criticism over here.
The syndication deal is kind of interesting..but my question is…are they syndicators? I don’t think they syndicate any other program, or even know how to do that kind of thing. I am wondering if RFD was a good idea or not..since..in the last couple of days, there has been an allusion to them not wanting imus to go into the edgier side of things, trash talking, etc…so maybe it isnt the long term, but I don’t see them syndicating him.
Cool..thanks Bruce. I would definitely like to hear that..but someone needs to tell Mr. Gelb that, you know, support for the I-nation is appreciated, but do it while the show is on TV ..heh.
By the way, I thought Tony was hilarious with the rodeo people. Seems like they are toying with his and Karith’s roles some more. Also can’t wait until they get the cameras on Lou and Bernie. Looks like we weren’t the only ones frustrated with that one.
I think it is pretty irrelevant mainly because she is some low level Golf Channel anchor…the cost vs. benefit scenario is low since, you cant get too much PR mileage from someone who is known so little..and in order to raise this means reminding people of your negatives. So, unless it is some national figure, in my opinion its not worth it for the I-man and the I-nation. Not only that, but the situations are different, in that she is an anchor who is hired to report whereas ourt I-man was hired to do the kind of things that he did..not worth chasing this.
If I were Imus, I would steer clear of attacking Bill Clinton on his looks (Imus looks like a mummfied lesbian with those glasses he’s been wearing). I would also tell him to take his own advice when discussing Hillary…JUST SHUT UP.
Hillary is going to whup up on Obama, and then she will spank Huckabee and McCain, and B-slap Giuliani…then what is Imus going to do. Learn to respect your DNC masters Imus.
As for Bernie…if he thinks Hillary is the best candidate for the GOP to run against, he is even dumber then he looks.
Otis Blunt, 32, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. in a fleabag hotel costing $10 a night a few blocks from the American Consulate, said James Plousis, the US marshal for New Jersey.
At a news conference, Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow blasted the civil-rights leader for not dealing directly with him, instead telling his plans to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who then passed them along.
And Sharpton said, “I wish I could have been on hand to assure Mr. Blunt’s safety, but clearly, his calling me to where he was helped lead to the conclusion that it did.”
Assure Mr. Blunt’s safety or Revs headline? Well Rev you got your headline – just not the one you wanted
Imagine Newsmax Magazine announcing the beginning of the end of talk radio. None of my Baby-Boomer contemporaries watch television anymore. We are all talk radio junkies. Between on line radio streaming & Satellite there is something on for everybody all the time.
Great to see Bob Schieffer on today he is truly a I-fan & very interesting. Remember his band from the old show? Imus said they were terrible (half kidding) but it was fun.
I thought Karith made a good observation about 16 year plan of the Clintons, and that we could have a Bush or a Clinton in the whitehouse for 28 years if Jeb Bush ran after Hillary. 16 years!! I think the Clinton’s have been “Stalking” the American Electorate longer then 16 years. Just say NO to dy(nasties)
that Dr. guy seems to write a lot about anilmal. He wrote not just about fish. I see he also about a cat who wears a hat and a fox who wears sox. I wonder If he ever wrote about a turtle who wore a girdle.
I was watching the flashback of Bob Kerrey, and he stated at one point he was impressed by Hillary Clinton’s performance on the Armed Services Committee. Huh? I wish Imus had called him on that. Hillary Clinton signed the letter along with other senators to have Rush Limbaugh, censured by his employer. Remember the letter that got auctioned off and the proceeds went to one of the charities for Marines. Come On!! Impressed with Hillary’s performance, when General Patraeus a commanding General in a Shooting War, taking time out to give his report to the Congress. Hillary’s Quote and she stands by it today, Hillary’s response to Patreaus ” I would need, A willful suspension of disbelief” This is who Bob Kerrey thinks should be the commander and chief. Give me a break, I was born at night but I wasn’t born last night.
The racially tinged comments by Golf Channel broadcaster Kelly Tilghman officially became a cultural and political issue Wednesday night when Rev. Al Sharpton demanded that the network fire her or face picket lines, part of growing fallout that precipitated a two-week suspension for the network’s lead play-by-play host.
“This cannot just go with, ‘I apologize, me and Tiger are friends,'” Sharpton told CNN. “We are in an era now where we see hangman’s nooses all over again. I don’t know why that (phrase) would pop into her head, but it popped out of her mouth and she should be accountable for it. “This is not about Tiger Woods. It’s about the station and using public airwaves to offend people. This is not about making Tiger a civil-rights leader. Tiger has the right to his own private feelings and his relationships.
“This is about saying this woman’s language violated the civil rights that you have been entrusted with an FCC license not to do.”
Hey Gang! Haven’t heard todays broadcast YET…but I culled my first “Best Of Imus 2008” clip yesterday for the ipod. Tony at The Garden interview was out loud funny! Thank The Lord…The I-Man is back! It just keeps movin’ on…better and better as it goes. It’s SO good to have him and the whole gang back. I am one “happy Camper”. LOL
Jonathan: regarding your post #77. As to (why?): I guess I was in the wrong place at the right time…or the right place at the wrong time…all I do know is I was scrubbed (my “farewell to the site” post, along with others)…and “Banned For Life”. But so it goes. It’s all good…but thanks for thinking about me! 🙂
They were talking about the noose showing up all over the place at Michelle Malkin’s blog, you can do a search and find those blogs. I commented, yes there are those who know what the symbolism means, and there are others like our children, who are not well versed in our country’s history. This past summer a movie came out “Pirates of the Carribean, At Worlds End”. The movie started with multiple nooses, now imagine how many children went and watched that movie. I am not saying some these nooses showing up are not malevalant, I am saying some are kids being ignorant. The noose re entered the American Consiousness, through a real popular movie this past summer.
Is the Irreverent Al stating that atheists are not abject in their outlook (on certain peoples faith) as far as their ability or capacity to govern and lead the nation? Didn’t come across that way to me, at least.
Hitchens was just stating a fact on the Mormons’ articles of faith.
Sharptons’ remarks (as usual) were misdirected at the wrong subject…and as usual..was given a “free pass” to cover his collective ass.
Being “Banned For Life” has it’s upsides…if you know what I mean. 🙂
The overwhelming spam is a big reason SI is down. It had become the most time-consuming task of the project, by far. Then the commenting difficulties, by the end, the system would not even let me post comments there.
Thanks for the audio from yesterday’s show bvb. More sites added to the Blogroll–you guys know better than me, what other sites should be on there these days?
Finally, there is no conflict between me and IT, and never has been. It’s good to have a big and growing universe of sites that support the I-man. So if haters ever attack again, we can all get behind him asap. The I-nation is big, it needs many websites.
Are they going to fire that girl? Tiger is not offended. I watched the tape and was not offended. He says he’s going to lead protests on the Golf Channel. Is this what the Civil Rights Movement has come to—–protesting the DAMN GOLF CHANNEL????? I am so embarrassed….. Why wasn’t Isiah Thomas fired for his DUMB comments and/or STUPID conduct? Why didn’t Al protest him? Why did Vivian Stringer apologize to Thomas for his stupid remarks? WHO IN THE HELL PUT ALL SHARPTON IN CHARGE? WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO STAND UP TO HIM?
Thanks again Keith…for the site…AND SUPPORTING IMUS.
On another subject…I would ask each and every one of you to take the survey RFD is conducting as far as demographics, and directions for where the network should go towards. At the end of the survey is a “comment box” that you may freely address any concerns you might have….here is the link below:
Its like he’s made of Teflon. He can do whatever the HELL he wants to and create excuse to get out of ANYTHING! What happened to the tax fraud charges? Oh yeah, he got an extension on them. I’d be happy when (WHITE, BLACK, PURPLE,GREEN, ETC. ) people stop giving this creep the time of day!!!!! I hope Tiger comes out with a statement himself to squash this mess….. There MANY other things that the Black Community needs to worry about!!!!! Don’t we have an ERECTION to worry about!!!!!:)
The tax evasion investigation is going full steam ahead on Al. Face it…he’s the equivalent of an ambulance chaser when it comes to racial issues. Self promoting… whether the victims invite him into the mix or not. What goes around…eventually comes around. His time is getting nearer…and nearer…
Is anyone else having trouble logging in? It seems like every time you try to login from the blog itself, it fails so you have to go to wordpress.com. I wonder if you would look into this Keith, cus it is annoying to go roundabout to comment.
Anyway, I have a contrarian point of view about Sharpton. I actually agree with him when it comes to the golf channel anchor. Unlike Imus, this persons job is to report the sporting event she was covering. She basically had no right to say what she said and she deserves what she is getting. Imus was paid to say such things. And, like the I-man has said, I wouldnt mind being in a foxhole with Sharpton. Why? He is consistent and tells you to your face what he is going to do. I would be more upset if he let this pass without criticizing this person, like he criticized the I-man. His view is that no one should be allowed to make racist-type comments on the public airwaves…and I respect him for that view and agree to an extent. And it is not like he denies that the hip-hop community has its problems in this regard..so..while I do think he is a publicity hound, I agree with him on this one.
I really think the Clintons don’t like the military, now Bill Clinton was no wuss, he was leaning forward alot militarily during his administration. I didn’t have any problems with his decision to go into Bosnia., he stopped a genocide and World Wars start in Eastern Europe. Bill Clinton is no dope. That said, the perception among military people is that the Clintons have a distaste for the Military. There are about 3 million military people, and their familys and they vote. Hillary Clinton isn’t scoring points with her “A willful suspension of disbelief” statement, to a decorated General commanding in a difficult theater, in a shooting war. That may work on the Code Pink Folks but they should take a head count, they really are not that numerous = votes.
Where was Hillary or Bill during the Walter Reed Scandal? If they can’t use it for a political advantage, they don’t get involved? that is the perception.
I was watching a special on CNN and they say that 25% of the homeless population is veterans, and some from the wars going on right now, how is that possible, the veterans are being treated like they are disposable. They fought for their country – volunteered and now some are living shelters. This could be used as a political wedge issue or somebody in our government could do the right thing and take care of them.
I get that the Whitehouse is the prize, to the people running for the highest office in the land. The people voting them into office, need to figure out if they are going to wield the power for us or for their own self interest.
That is the title that goes with President of the United States, Commander and Chief.
Anybody see Stern on Letterman last night.? He ripped Iman pretty badly. He is sure impressed with himself. I guess a big ego kinda goes with the job.
I personally like the Deirdre spots. Besides being hot & very passionate about children’s issues she has consistently taught me about important health related issues that I probably would not have been aware of otherwise. She has been leading the charge for “greening” our lifestyle and as it turns out, from what I read she is right about the whole Greening deal.
Can anyone here remember mom cleaning the bathroom or the floors with that god awful Clorox Bleach? I have been trying to implement the GTC products into my lifestyle for about a year. I can tell you that the GTC glass cleaner absolutely works as well as Windex.
Mr. Obama has now begun blaming the messenger, as if the media had somehow made Rev. Wright’s words more noxious than they actually were. He referred to “snippets” of sermons serving to misdefine a man who deserved a kinder assessment. Well, senator, welcome to the America where people of your race and your politics have foisted such “death by snippet” on undeserving figures from Trent Lott to Don Imus.
