Reviewing Colonel Jack Jacobs appearance on Imus, struck by the range and depth of the discussion. The Colonel provides a graduate level dissertation on American Politics and the Mideast.
For anyone who is interested, here are ChanX CliffsNotes…
POLITICS American electoral politics are the longest running reality comedy show the Col has ever seen. Reason Kerry lost ’04? Not enough people liked him. Colonel is neutral in the election because he is an equal opportunity castigator and wants to be able to say something nasty about everyone.
IRAQ Anbar Province is quiet now because we put a lot troops in there, killed or captured a lot of bad guys, bad guys who remain moved to other places. Also contributing is little fat guy with a turbin on his head, Muqtada al-Sadr who has something of a truce going on with the unity government. Colonel would like the opportunity to call al-Sadar a fat guy to his face. “al-Sadar is definitely fat and has his laundry on his head”. Iraq is a fake country with Kurds to the north with Sunnis and Shias who have been fighting for 1300 years because each sect is convinced they have the direct path to God. Iraq needs a commanding leader who can solidify the country – which they use to have.
MIDDLE EAST Because of tensions in the area most likely event is some messy sort of regional war. Countries disassemble into component parts. Sectarian violence is going to drive absolutely everything in South West Asia – He is not optimistic.Mideast Peace Agreement in 2008 is delusional. Jerusalem is the crux of the thing, nobody has put forth a viable program to adminstration of the city that Jews, Arabs and Christians wouldn’t fight over. To say that a Mideast Peace Agreement will happen this year is the result of mind altering drugs.
IRAN Iranian speed boats were seconds away from getting blown up based on rules of engagement. Looks like this thing was done impromptu and ad-hoc by a bunch of guys who disagree with how the central government is operating. Iran is fractional and fractionalized. There is some stuff taking place behind the scenes to make something happen here.
PAKISTAN US has gone into Pakistan not to get Osama, if we do it would be luck, although we have been close at times. Aim is to get the HQs and training areas supplying Al Qaeda around the globe!

Astute observations from a Great American hero. His great service to our country continues. Not bad from a self described “little short guy”. Americans are lucky to still have him, and his voice, prominently in the national media outlets. I’m glad Imus still has him as a frequent guest.
Thanks for the “CliffsNotes” ChanX.
Off topic but this is the article from Mike Lupica on Thursday, where he quotes Mike Tyson, everyone has plan until they get hit.

WHAT DO THEY WANT HIM TO DO? 😦
Keith,
This site is getting better and better. I feel privileged to have made the first posting on the first day.
I hadn’t thought anything about the importance of the avatars or, as I like to think of them, “totems.” But they have done much to enhance this site visually. They have also helped us “get to know our friends” and feel even more connected to one another. I want to personally thank Bruce for his help. I was stymied in getting my image “shrunk to size” until he generously offered his time and effort on my behalf. Thanks, Bruce. You are a great guy…you were having a tough time two weekends ago, but the experience taught us all and has helped to make the new Imus Times the great place that it is.
Keith, since Imus Times is so fantastic now, can we just keep it instead of reconstituting Support Imus?
http://blackrepublican.blogspot.com/2008/01/hillarys-racism-rears-its-ugly-head.html
Imus gets a mention at the end. ENJOY!
Many say that Imus lost his ability to handle insightful and sometime irreverent interviews. The Colonel Jacobs interview is an example he hasn’t.
Jacobs was a bit controversial in spots and Imus handled it admirably.
Our I-Man is far from washed up. Every day the program becomes better and better. And I am happy again.
Harley
Scoop Jackson on ESPN Page-2 asked:
Who is not listening Mr Jackson? Look no further then yourself.
ChanX
“Words are not guilty, people are guilty.” Martin Garbus
Hey Channel, how did you make the quote thingy? 🙂
Harley – Its called html tags, the tag for the quotey thing is “blockquote”. You place blockquote at the begining of the quote and /blockquote at the end of the quote don’t forget to place it between arrows < html tag >
Here is an example of how to use the blockquote tag:
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_blockquote.asp
Placing a “b” before a word and a” /b” at the end will bold the word(s). The slash indicates the end of the bold.
And don’t forget the arrows
Not so done with the Tiger Woods issue after all. Thanks for that link, Harley. I’ve had to mull this over with my golf-nut husband who “worships” Tiger Woods (we made a pilgrimage to the Valhalla of Golf, St. Andrews Scotland, for “The Open” in 2000 when Tiger won that tournament)…I digress…
I gleaned from Scoop’s article (Harley’s link) that there is more of a direct comparison to the two comments made, Imus and Kelly, respectively. In each case, they were making a “back-handed compliment” to sporting figures of African American heritage that unthinkingly drew unfortunate connotations which too easily allowed for out-of-context misconstruing. Even I concluded that Kelly’s remark was heinous until looking at the whole story. Only Tiger’s measured response (and the sane commentary on this site) caused me to consider more carefully. And that is why it is being chewed to death endlessly even after the principals involved have said let it go.
What does “Scoop” and others want Tiger to do, Harley asks? Fair question. It appears they want him to lower his stature from the great humanitarian his father foretold him to be, and to lower himself to the level of the mindless critics such as themselves. I think his response to date has been the one that most validates his dad’s predictions.
The “quote thingy” is cool…
bruce. you need to place the HTML Tag blockquote between the arrows … to start the quote and the HTML Tag /blockqoute to end the quote…
frec, to answer your question, even when SI comes back, it would be a different focus and won’t replace this site.
Fantastic, Keith…thank you!
Scoop Jackson also asks:
“The question is: Will Tiger Woods say something now that he’s the victim?”
Earl, Kultida and Tiger have dealth with “the racism issue” all of their lives. Segregated hotels and golf courses to Tiger’s being tied to a tree while his tormentors threw tennis balls at him as a child might qualify someone else as a “victim.” But Tiger Woods has chosen the path of education and teaching by example. Methinks his reply is thunderous.
Hey Keith,
I found this on Malkin’s page it is a free poll maker, we could use a new poll. Michelle’s latest was about Rep pair ups tickets Pres spot and VP spot. Of course ours could be Imus related.

Hey Look at the blog on Huffington Post about Bill Clinton’s fairy tale comment, and who is defending him. What is this called again “karma” I guess it is different, when the shoe is on the other foot. I know there is somekind of moral to this ?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/13/right-and-in-context-is_n_81238.html
Laree:
Everything about the Clintons is calculated. From the exit of Bill Clinton’s Presidency, to becoming “carpetbaggers” in New York…Bill setting up headquarters there and Hillary’s launch to the Senate…and ultimately?…Duh! 8 years of another Clinton presidency…
NO THANK YOU…LOL.
They are MASTERS of using the media, starting up media groups, and using them towards their agenda.
…and if they “screw up”…..?
Watching Hillary on Russert today…I wish I had ten bucks for every time she said “well, that’s not fair”….LOL
So far in this campaign, Bill has stuck his proverbial foot in his mouth so many times… if He is Hillary’s greatest asset in her quest to be president…let Him just keep talking.
laree, regarding “Right, And In Context. Is That Too Much To Ask? Or Is It Just A Fairytale?”
It seems to be…too much to ask of our media, that is, that they be accurate, thorough, or even fair. Once upon a time, it was more-important-to-have-it-right-than-to-have-it-fast, but now the opposite is true. Journalists and reporters in the past, even sketchy ones, had a level of professional pride and integrity that came with accuracy. Now they care nothing about thorough and accurate reporting as long as they aren’t getting caught with egg on their face. Being “last” to cover a story is really their biggest shame. All this is due to the relentless internet-frenzied-pace of our world. What it has cost them is trust. I once trusted everything Walter Cronkite told me; today I trust nothing coming out from the lips of Brian Williams, or Katie Couric or, least of all, Bill O’Reilly, or Chris Matthews, or Keith Olbermann, or anyone else I don’t even watch anymore so I don’t know their names. Our media is the fairytale…happily ever after, it isn’t.
Bruce, Good day for your Giants! Now you have to choose – Favre or your giants! Good problem to have.
The Moral of the Clintons story is they are not. I will only say this one more time on an Imus support site.
“We have had enough of the Bush people and the Clinton People”.
Now onto my choice for next week. Giants against the Pack in Green Bay. Well it is obvious.
Giants in Green Bay have NO CHANCE. With Brett Favre at the helm of the Pack it is a done deal. Eli will be stopped. And the Giants will not be able to complete long passes.
So far Imus is 3 for 4. And I am 4 for 4. Hate Indiananopilis for real only because of their dirty tricks I watched today. But New England will be having fun with San Diego. So my Superbowl pick will be Green Bay against New England.
Guess we are back on WFAN with all the Sports information.
Amazing. Now context matters? For 9 months I’ve been screaming CONTEXT. And now it matters?
And speaking of context why arewe expected to accept Clinton’s context but not Kelly Tilghmans? Otr the context in which Tiger decides it’s a non issue. After all who would know better the content of one’s character than a friend?
PTB
Congrats Bruce. Think the odds and talent are with you, but have to pull for Phillip Rivers, bout the only thing Wolfpack fans have going for us these days! Imus is all sports; after all he watched all but one of the bowl games. LOL
I usually don’t comment about politics here..but they are really playing dirty tricks here..and the sad thing is, dirty tricks work. I can’t believe that the BET chairman makes this veiled reference to Obama’s drug use, but then her campaign insults everyones intelligence by claiming he was talking about his time of community activism. It is a disgrace to her, and to this country…but it works..and with Obama not really responding..it could work extremely well for her.
On the football note, it is all irrelevant now since the Patriots will win everything easily now in my view.
Jonathan
Well boys and girls, it’s snowing where I am in NJ… tomorrow’s trip is out. I hope to go by the end of the week. Argh.

Good Morning!
Listening to Imus…..
It’s stuff like this that will have me vote for Obama by default:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/01/14/2008-01-14_hillary_clinton_team_throws_raciallyting.html
ENJOY!
Imus is kinda good this morning. Just finished talking about the NEW governor of Louisiana….. Native American or 7/11? Now his talking about Hillary playing nasty with Obama. The MORE I read about that, the more I want to vote for Obama out of SPITE. Is Tony on the show this morning?
http://environmentalrepublican.blogspot.com/2008/01/donna-brazile-speaks-for-all-african.html
ENJOY!
What is particularly satisfying about the Clinton-Obama feud? Campaign waged against Don Imus and Talk Radio has boomeranged. Now the professionally outraged are being held to their own standards, subject to their own tactics, parsing words and battling words taken out of context. Nothing like it.
ChanX
RIGHT ON CHANNEL! That’s why I keep bringing it up. They ALL went after the I-Man in April, but look at them NOW!!!!! 🙂
P.S.
I’m going to figure out that quote thingy just yet!!! 🙂
I voted for Bill twice……….. The Bill I knew is gone. ;(
I don’t think you can say that Obama went after Imus. He was asked a question and responded..but it isnt like he was actively making it a part of his campaign. I still don’t see how that you all can’t see that this is really unfair towards Obama.
The poetic moment is not about Obama, the joy is around the liberal elites eating their own in public! _ ChanX
I watched Meet the Press yesterday, Russert needed a button like Imus has for Bo’s mic. I don’t know why I watched, I spent the good part of the hour yelling at her, on the tv screen, and you all know they can’t hear us right? Everytime Timmah tried to do a follow up, she insisted on finishing her talking points, her voice got louder and she started in with the Shrill, which is why they dubbed her Shrillery in the first place. I was thinking if it was online somewhere – the interview we could do a count of how many times Hillary used Fair or Unfair, really that is what the election is about “Fairness”
The other thing that stuck out was she was trying to co-opt the legacy of JFK and Martin Luther King Jr., so Tim maybe you could get someone on for a rebutal. The infamous Hillary Clinton to Patreaus comment was “A wilfull suspension of disbelief” The junior senator from New York, signed a petition to get Rush Limbaugh censured….so what about the 1st Amendment Uncle Timmy? Hillary thinks that the Iraqis are afraid of the Democrat Party coming into Power and this is why they are fighting the Terrorist? It isn’t because Alqeada is torturing and killing their familys and neighbors. No!! it is because of the lowest rated Congress in history, winning seats in Nov 2006 election but not enough to actually do anything. That was not a mandate on Iraq, that was the Country wanting accountablity from the United States Legislature. That’s okay Tim, just let her spin till she gets dizzy.
The BET head’s comment about Obama, remember you all this is the man who insisted on Imus being fired, then programed “Hot Ghetto Mess” yeah he is all about the decent treatment of black women. I don’t think it hurts for people to consider the source, when these “Drive By” comments are made against Obama.
Where is Maya Angelou? Who is she supporting? and so I rise…note to Maya – not at this rate.
Laree, Here are the 10 instances Hill used either fair or unfair. The 10th instance she emphasizes “context”. ChanX

I don’t have anything profound to say other than this site is a wonderful place to be. And as Keith said the New Support Imus site will not replace this one. Look forward to that too.
Thank you Keith and Channel for a calm place to comment.
Wanted to mention something about the KSRO stream. It is much clearer then WABC’s and Citadels. Though it disturbs my listening to Rush on WABC.
Keep up the great posts.
The Case Against Hillary Clinton
Why on earth would we choose to put the Clinton family drama at the center of our politics again.
I do not agree with Christopher Hitchens on Religion. But does make some good points on the two faces of Hillary.

So I woke up this morning and thought the same thing to myself that Mrs. Imus thought before it was confirmed she was pregnant with Wyatt — where’s the white stuff? :p It was snowing here lightly last night, and when I woke up this morning at 6 there was NOTHING!

Don’t worry Lenny. Tomorrow is another day. But you should please take a Cam-Corder with you. We have got to see it, up close and personal.

Bruce,
Have been keeping an eye on TalkStreamLive. Site provides Internet Radio Talker Ratings. It is interesting to watch Talkers ratings change over the course of the day, Site has WABC and KABC for Imus, He is usually near the top of the ranking from 6 to 10 in the AM. Doesn’t seem to track Imus On Air or any of the other stations netcasting Imus, unless those results are so small they don’t make the list.
Site: http://www.talkstreamlive.com/
Completely off of subject here…but ChanX…check out this info on autism. My wife, Mary who is quite knowledgeable in the medical field for over 30+ years gave me this link. This issue affects me personally… having two grandsons ( and a Possible 3rd) directly affected.
I will provide the link at the end of this post…BUT on another note:
Can ANYONE give me background on Deirdre Imus…as to what her actual CREDENTIALS are…as far as scientific, or medical Degrees?…or even classes she has taken pertaining to any medical field? I have tried my best and have come up empty handed.
Here is the link to the recent studies on autism and a certain gene that may play a role:

Channel,
I don’t follow Talkstreamlive closely. But I am finding that the WABC stream on my end is becoming very hard to record due to a humm and distortion. Have checked all my settings and volumes and other streams are much better.
ImusOnAir goes only 3 hours.
KSRO which I find the clearest has not gotten their feed correctly. Repeated a whole 1/2 hours and lost the Hume interview.
Since I use these feeds for my presentations it is hard to filter out the humm. And I can’t do anything about the distortion.
Sadly IT’s Podcast is the clearest, but is late and is I feel pulled from RFD or is a direct broadcast off the radio.
One thing I will save by waiting is the power used by my system being left off until the following day.
Why Imus doesn’t register maybe because more radio stations are picking him up and RFD is being subscribed to by fans getting DirectTV or Dish instead of streaming.
Will be monitoring the situation as time goes by.
Bruce,
Imusonair runs all four hours. then repeats them.
Donaldinks, that finding is for 1% of children with autism. I remember that from Imus, discussing the chromosone ?16? which shows damage in that chromosone for that 1% of children with autism? I took that to mean something had to damage the chromosone. I would like to know exactly in lay words, what that finding means even to the 1%.
PT,
Correct on the first segment. Second segment only goes 3. Now that may have changed. Haven’t checked since I can’t load it before I go to bed.
Thanks
This is an all and all out call that have the technical experience on internet, or other means to answer my question:
Can ANYONE give me background on Deirdre Imus…as to what her actual CREDENTIALS are…as far as scientific, or medical Degrees?…or even classes she has taken pertaining to any medical field? I have tried my best and have come up empty handed.
Thanks!
Laree…did you read the article?
Channelxrfr,
Then there is her record for her vote to give the President the power to go to war. Now it was just supposed to be used for a threat to make Saddam comply. Uh huh cause Saddam was all about complying. This is at best disingenous. The interview with Russert, I think he could have, had them (NBC) play the recorded questions, and they could have put up a cardboard cut out of him in the chair opposite Shrillery. Hillary keeps repeating she is against “pre emptive war”. What did she think her husband was doing in Bosnia? Did I miss something did Milosevic attack the US? I mean this is part of her 35 years of experience right? Nato is still in Bosnia last time I checked, how come Code Pink, isn’t insisting we get our troops out of there and back home? Hillary has married herself to the far left wing nuts, and when she tries to move to the middle during the national elections, people like me Independents and swing voters are going to remember among other things “A willful suspension of disbelief” signing the letter to have Rush Limbaugh censured and the latest That JFK and Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy is more her legacy by extention, then any other Americans, she makes no bones that Obama has not inheirted the civil rights legacy. I wonder about that, there is a test, we put both Senators on a street corner in NYC, and see which one can get a cab to pick them up 🙂
Donaldinks
I tried to read the article, I was listening to Imus’s interpetation, he came closest to putting it in lay words so average joes, could understand.
Ok….I will give this time…since in Don Imus own word’s ..” iI don’t have a dog in this race”.
I do.
So I will give plenty of leeway for those that DON’T…please find out the information I am missing here…

Can ANYONE give me background on Deirdre Imus…as to what her actual CREDENTIALS are…as far as scientific, or medical Degrees?…or even classes she has taken pertaining to any medical field? I have tried my best and have come up empty handed.
Thanks for all of the interesting posts and links. The news and/pretend news is stupifying. In the last day, these stand out to me:
Is there nothing the Clintons will not do? Too easy, that answers itself. But they’ve succeeded in Klinghoffer-ing Obama and will worry about cleaning up the mess later.
Bob Johnson’s “performance” makes me want to throw up. The denials that the Clintons didn’t know what he was going to say – ditto.
The media covered up Sidney Blumenthal’s DUI in NH till after the election? Nice.
Rudy has a ‘come to Jesus’ moment at the evangelical church in Miami, and tells the crowd he wants something more important than their vote — he wants their prayers. I’ve got a prayer for you, Rudy. “Dear Jesus, Let this be all be over soon. And Jesus, what am I going to do about the wife who wants to be Queen and is going to be totally p***ed?”
Bubba should keep his rosacea self at home. The more he is shouting about Hillary and Obama, the more I want to kill myself pondering another 4 to 8 with that circus. Bill, shut up, please.
The polls have Hillary gaining? Who are these people? No offense to any on this site who like Hillary, but I don’t know which is more difficult to watch — the old, 6th grade teacher who is always mad Hillary, or the new “I come before you humbled after NY and I feel your pain” Hillary. BOTH are too difficult to watch. I agree with Frec, Laree, Donaldinks, Harley, and whoever else posted and linked about how we are essentially scr**ed — We have no news, we have only what is decided we should be told.
Does anyone know what happened to the lawsuit Dan Rather filed? I know many think he is nuts (so what, who isn’t) but even a broken clock is right twice a day. I would like to see Dan, who has said he doesn’t want a settlement, but would like to get news executives and administration officials to testify under oath, get his day in court. Let the suits testify to Dan’s charges that CBS tried to suppress the report on Bush’s National Guard service and also the Abu Ghraib abuses. It would probably be to no avail, just as the recount in NY will not show any maleficence (too much time to cover their tracks), but it would feel better to think that at least someone is trying to do something.
I still can’t link (or avatar?), but to anyone who would like a diversion, have you seen the Red State Update? They have a video “Top Secret Audio: Dems Meet GOP at NY Debate” where they pretend to be the candidates making small talk. My favorite is when John Edwards hugs McCain and McCain asks him, “what is that intoxicating scent?” and Edwards answers “oh, it’s Calvin Klein, mixed with the sweat of millworkers. Don’t know why I remembered that one, but I find it funny!
Here’s a Fairy Tale, (where is Bernie?), Once upon a time the times were bad; awful in fact, just awful, and the military-industrial complex and all of the powerful giants decided what would be best for all the little people. And they told their minions what to print and what to publish so they could continue playing “Who’s on First? — Me, that’s who and don’t ever try to knock me off. ” And they ruled happily everafter. The End.

ChanX… and anyone else….please answer my question about:
ANYONE give me background on Deirdre Imus…as to what her actual CREDENTIALS are…as far as scientific, or medical Degrees?…or even classes she has taken pertaining to any medical field?
Donald,
I have searched on Google for anything regarding Deirdre Coleman Imus regarding College Degrees. So far nothing. She could be self taught by reading and following the Governments lead in 2002 when they removed allegedly Thimerosal from vaccines as a preservative.
Though studies have found it is a mercury based (Common knowledge) and being a heavy metal is dangerous in young children even in small doses.
It is deadly to all mammals in certain dosages. Mercury is the leading cause of Fish being taken off the market for the levels they contained.
Most oral and rectal thermometers (A Pleasant thought) no longer use mercury for taking a temperature.
Have a couple myself. And as a child use to play with mercury because of it’s unusual properties.
Still searching

Click to access study_final.pdf
I know Bruce…all about the “Mercury” link…but check out the studies and reports on the links I have provided.
Bruce:….my point is this:
If Deirdre was educated in the medical field in ANY way…wouldn’t it come up ANYWHERE?
If Don Imus is giving her a platform …and to promote “pseudo-science” on uneducated people…is that not disingenuous?
If you research hard and as long as I have…you will find out WHERE Imus first met Deirdre..and in what context he met her…right on his show.
It doesn’t pass the smell test to me….
It seems to me that she is out to make a name for herself off of him…yet he let’s her.
…on another note:
Recently Deirdre was on the show complaining about the epidemic of Obesity in children in this country….
…have ANY of you seen Wyatt on the RFD special they did on the ranch?….
Like Bernie ALWAYS used to say:
Keep it REAL….
Donald, Recall Deirdre Imus went to one of the Philadelphia Colleges, believe Vilanova, no idea of her major, although Imus is always saying she ran track 8)
Thanks for the links, looks like I have plenty of catching up to do.
Imus was a VJ on VH1 with Scott Shannon?
Deirdre Coleman. The two met in 1992 when Deirdre [25 years younger than Imus] appeared in a fitness-model contest on the “Imus In The Morning” show. They were married on a Navajo Indian Reservation on December 17, 1994. The 5’8″, 120 pound Deirdre was once nick-named “the Animal” by the denizens of Gleason’s Gym, a famous boxing factory in Brooklyn, NY because of her all-out boxing/kickboxing workouts. A former Villinova University track star, Mrs. Imus has been described as a cross between Martha Stewart, Anna Quindlen, Jim Ryan, Oscar de la Hoya, and Cindy Crawford.

One more thought on Colonel Jack: before they were so rudely interrupted last April, there was on-air discussion about Imus making a trip to visit our troops in Iraq. Imus was hesitant, joking about being worried he’d “get his head chopped off,” or something along those lines. But Jack Jacobs encouraged him to make the trip and offered to accompany him. I guess it’s way too late, but wouldn’t it be great if they could still make the trip for the sake of our soldiers?
HQ, Imus was very complimentary of Hillary today(extremely surprising coming from him) following that Fat Timmy appearance.
She has an irritating/deceptive style and I don’t like the way she does politics, but there is a sense that she has an idea of where and how she wants to lead, and wants to do a good job. hadn’t seen that before.
But I also like this about Bush-Cheney, they know how they want to lead, and they go there, and everyone else has to get used to it. Irritating political style, but you cannot deny they are leaders.
There is one candidate who leads and doesn’t have that political technique however…
hey PT, looks like Richardson just set himself up for the veep slot, gotta be the only reason he got out just before Nevada.
I have seen the results of Dr. Carson’s miracles first-hand. I would not be able to begin to describe the magnitude of this man’s greatness.

Still re: Jack Jacobs – He is one of a very few Military men post-Iraq who never commented in lock-step with his peers ie:Tommy Franks – Peter Pace – McCaffrey etal. Jack has such a way with honest plain speaking about war tactics – even I, an old lady can understand him. I never would have known Jack Jacobs If Imus had not had him on the show. Imus’s show has enlightened me on SO many issues.
this is pretty cool how we have so many conversations running. the avatars seem to help make sense of everything much more easily.
on the Obama/Clinton mess, how do you guys feel about Limbaugh’s commentary/satire on the issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu3mgszloGA
[also, do people prefer to keep politics out of here? To me it seems the show is about politics, so it’s okay if our “lounge” includes the topic. Same with the NHH incident, one good thing about this site is it is not the primary topic, like on SI. Do you mind if it comes up sometimes? Or, do you prefer the site let you enjoy the show being “back to normal” whatever that means?]
Politics are game ChanX:
Imus covers them daily. 😉
Politics IS the name of the game. Imus loves the political banter – the lies – the truths- the uncertainties of the upcoming ’08 erection/election. I think, that when we comment on Politics we are ALWAYS ‘on topic’.
Imustimes —
I vote everything is game.
Imustimes — I’m not a ditto-head but I’ve heard Rush enough to know what to expect. Gotta say though, I didn’t see that gardening reference coming. Can’t think that Imus could get away with that, but Rush was laughing at the end with no worries.
The husband and I watched today’s show and found it to be very entertaining. I loved the 7–11 remark and how Bernard answered Imus by saying that HE didn’t say anything about anything. It was good to see them laughing about it.
Apparently Hillary’s spade comment was made to Matt Lauer on the Today Show and then reported initially by Rush. Here is the quote and link from Rush 1/07/08.
RUSH: Did you hear what Mrs. Clinton said on the Today Show today with Matt Lauer? She said that Barack Obama “hasn’t done the spadework necessary to be president.” He “hasn’t done the spadework necessary to be president,” as though she has.

Donaldinks,
I am intrigued about the autism deal as much as anything..but am wondering why you are turning on DIedre (if you are). Even if she has no degree at all, it is common sense to not want neurotoxins in the vaccines that we give kids..whether it directly causes autism or not. Personally, I don’t think anyone knows what the cause is, on either side. As a person with a pituitary gland disorder..who has been examined repeatedly by experts..it is obvious that little is known about the brain and what causes various illnesses. I think their strategy is to kind of…do what you can to attempt to help the problem..I mean to my limited knowledge thymerosol is a preservative. Also, she does have a proven track record as far as the greening the cleaning and all of that..so she knows more than the average joe about what is going on in these areas, IMHO
I have little use for Rush..especially now when he…I don’t know..won’t endorse anyone but comes out against mccain ( A war hero by the way who tells the truth) and Huckabee..but is too much of a coward basically to endorse someone and stick his neck out on the line. Bottom line is that Rush is a weasel..unlike Hannity, which will have people from all sides on and spar with them..rush has all of thse people who basically come on and lick his boots.
Jonathan
So I’m in the middle of Donald’s assignment, then Keith gives me one …
First- the Autism articles are interesting reads. On one of the WABC Public Service Announcements they talk about the odds of a child having autism as 1:150. In the California Study the odds are stated as 1:1,000. Which is fairly significant difference. Seems like the California Study is more accurate vs the odds. I’m not turning against Deirdre but would appreciate a broader discussion on the topic.
Secondly – Rush is hot stuff. Listening to the WABC commercials for Rush, he always makes sense at some level. Still cannot listen to him for more then 10 minutes, so Keith’s assignment was perfect. He really bore into the Democrats on the Race, Gender and Class issue, challenging the MSM to stake a position – of course they won’t.
My opinion of Rush is it depends on the day you listen. Sometimes it is a broken record, other times it is new and informative. But with 650 radio stations broadcasting his program he must be doing something right. The one personality I like the best on WABC is Mark Levin. On 6PM EST to 8PM EST. Now you want to hear some truth about the candidates, that is the place. But I caution you he takes no prisoners.
Now the Deirdre discussion could be an interesting one. However is far from as controversial as it is information that the U.S. Government already knew when they mandated that thimeresol be removed from all vaccines in 2002. It is logical no one wants the heavy metal “Mercury” entered into their childs body at any level. Nor would I a full grown adult.
Personality is important here on this great site. Know it s not required, but seeing a little avatar for posters would be a good thing.
Channel and Keith have done a fine job here. And the fact we do not have back biting is so refreshing.
Thank you both.
Well..I am not sure how to add an avatar, nor where to get the jpegs or whatever for it. And I hope you guys know who I am from IT. Sometimes I think you do, sometimes I think you guys don’t..so if someone could tell me how to add the avatar without going through hoops, I will add it.
Jonathan
Bruce,
I have wanted to listen to Levin..but I am always busy during that time of day. I don’t mind a take no prisoners approach, but be courageous enough to take on callers regularly who disagree with you. Neil Boortz is a great example of this, although he competes with the I-man some..similar timeslots.
Frec,
That would be cool if Imus could go SAFELY to Iraq or Afghanistan. Stdomsgirl, I think that is why I like Col Jacobs, did you hear him, when he stated, Iraq is a fake country, there are kurds in the north, and Shia in the south, and Sunnis in the middle and they all know the right way to get to heaven, and they all have been fighting about it for 1300 years. Biden is the only one on the Dem side that came up with a plan for Iraq – post surge, and partitioning would have to involve the international community, which means NATO. I remember hearing Romney mentioning partitioning months back and thought, he stole that idea from Biden 🙂
I think Imus would be a big morale booster if they made a trip to either Iraq or Afghanistan but I don’t know that his health is up to the trip?
DonaldInks,
Imus stated, when he was discussing the autism finding for the 1% the chromosone they found, that was damaged. That somewhere in btw the people who think it is genetic and the people who think it is caused by the enviorment is a happy medium. Imus said, he wishes they would stop spending money flying people around in planes, and put the money towards more research. That is from memory folks so words to that effect. Doesn’t Deirdra have a webpage dedicated to articles on the subject of childrens health ect? It seems her credentials would be on the same webpage?
I really thought the men who look like old lesbians was funny.
I am going to get a copy of Strong at the Broken Places, for my cousin. I would rather buy in a bookstore and ship myself.
Don’t know how to ‘avatar’ and I’ve looked it up and tried. Will have to wait to ask one of my semi-adult kids to do it. As I’ve said in several posts already.
In the meantime, just picture the Tennessee mountains as seen when driving through Chattanooga. I’m on Signal Mountain, in a 2 l/2 story brick Colonial, with a husband, dogs and a cat. I have two great kids, the son is an attorney, the daughter is an English professor and author, I’m a strawberry blonde, five feet eight, who still looks cute for my age — not telling — with degrees in music performance. I sit on several boards in Chattanooga — not the wooden kind. The former director of the National Transportation Safety Board is my neighbor. Senator Bob Corker, who I’m now very glad defeated Harold Ford, for whom said NTSB head gave a party, is an old friend of the family. Former NTSB neighbors also frequently entertain Tipper and Al. Jon Meacham’s relatives live up the road from us. He is in town often to visit relatives and go to Board Meetings at Sewanee. Pat Summit’s uncle is a retired judge and is also a neighbor. We attend all of the UT football games and are members in good standing at the Methodist Church. We attend Willie and Delbert concerts when we can. We shower regularly.
Good grief. Will that hold you over till I can get the stupid avatar? Never mind — I adore Imus and the show. He’s back, so I’m out of here. It was real.
davis, have you found a picture you would like to use?
Yes phyllis that will hold me over…thanX 🙂
You’re welcome, Channel. Got carried away, just never liked rules I guess. Or even suggestions of rules apparently.
At least I didn’t cry.
This is too funny, apparently Monica Crowley is live blogging Rob Bartlett alias Bill Clinton.Chickaboomer is back too.
http://monicamemo.typepad.com/weblog/2008/01/once-upon-a-tim.html
Keith,
Is there a youtube of Rob Bartlett as Bill Clinton, doing his once up on a time schtick? you know his fairy tale, That was funny I just wondered if anyone has put it up yet?
Phyllis:
Your post # 90 had me lol-ing out loud…I am envious of those daily showers…we may have to cut back on that habit if we our drought-situation here doesn’t improve….I am mindful that loss of natural resources has caused populations to migrate…
I marvel at the natural beauty of Tennessee each time I travel north from here to Bristol and Abingdon (VA) where some of my relatives reside (and my sister rests in peace there). Chattanooga is roughly half-way between here and there…
You will figure out the avatar procedure…just go to “my account” at the top of this page and follow the instructions. As far as your selected image, it’s a case of “size does matter.” Think small. I got that from Bruce. Good luck…
Hi Frec,
Thanks for the advice with my avatar problem. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Tennessee is gorgeous, isn’t it. Tell me when you’re en route to Abingdon and I’ll meet you for lunch. Better yet, I’ll cook.
And, as always in the South, one of my best friends in Chattanooga is originally from Abingdon… so that makes you and me cousins once removed! LOL.
Phyllis:
Just messin’ around to see what happened…new avatar is Baxter Black, the cowboy veterinarian; it’s a jpeg, 8.96 KB, downloaded right from the internet…it went right up to this site…I’ll probably go back to my Ojibwe “Dancing Turtles” for a little while longer at least, but you can change your avatar after every shower if you wish…
Frec,
I enjoy the “Dancing Turtles” — Wish I were more tech-savy, but I’ll eventually figure it out.
Off to the shower — Later.
Jonathan,
Glad to know a freindly poster. The Avatar thing is really quite simple. It is the size that can be tricky though.
All jpegs can be found by googling a subject that you like. When you see the search complete go to the top and click on images. Hundreds of images will be there. Some are gifs which may work, and others are very large.
Pick one that suits you and download it by right clicking and save as. Make sure you know where it is going. Default is usually the desktop.
Then browse for it. Crop it and upload it. Your first one will take a bit of time to proess due to the content you choose. A security feature and to avoid copyrighted material or porn subjects.
Frec can help you. She is now an expert. The fun part is playing around with the images. Good Luck.
No expert here…trained monkey only…”computer genes” in my family by-passed me…moral is, if I can do it, anybody can do it…
PS: my (*relationship deleted/classified info*) tracks “mad cows” by computer at DOA…he knows where every cow in America is at any given time. If we want to know where the illegal immigrants are hiding, we should give each of them a cow…
Oh no. Phyllis……. Those weren’t rules at all. Channel will tell you. Just a friendly suggestion by me.
As said. Avatars are not required.
bcvb —
I enjoy the avatars — it’s just humiliating to be to so tech-challenged. I wasn’t kidding when I said months ago that this was my first time to ever post. But as Scarlett says, tomorrow is another day, and I’m feeling lucky.
Did you see Frec’s new one — Baxter Black, the cowboy veterinarian? Now THAT’S an avatar if I ever saw one. LOL
If you read the little steps I showed Jonathan I think you will have a great time doing it.
Wish in a way there were default Avatars for those that are really busy or as you said “tech challenged”.
Just have fun trying if you want.
Phyliss,
If she gets Baxter black want me to find you a copy of Uncle Joe the Polka Schmoe?
PT —
Nothing would make me prouder than to have Old Joe Schmoe as my very own avatar –
Had I known about Uncle Joe and his happy band of polka musicians sooner, I could have booked him for our daughter’s wedding reception last June. That would have been an unexpected yet bold choice, and one that wouldn’t be easily forgotten by our guests.
The Tribute group on IITM 1/11/08 with Brian Wilson and a skit by Tony Powell
Listen if you wish.
Hey frec, whose that in your avatar?
Ooops, I thought it was Kevin Costner. 🙂
Did anyone see this last night? I tell ya the man is made of Teflon! He wants the golf chick fired, but has NO criticism for Bob Johnson………….
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,322711,00.html
Just like Isiah Thomas got a pass, guess Al is selective about the people he protests. How does he get away with it? Wonder if he’s still listening to Imus? Is Imus under his control, too?
Meet the REAL Bob Johnson………
http://bracken.wordpress.com/2008/01/14/introducing-robert-johnson/
Mornin’ y’all…Harley, you just helped me ‘cuz I have truly been trying to remember “Kevin Whatzisname’s” name for days…I can’t even remember why I wanted to remember it, but thanks.
I was only going to keep this “Baxter Black” avatar for a few minutes, but since you guys seem to like it, I’ll keep it around for a bit longer. I had my first-and-only chance to view RFD-tv during my holidays in Colorado and was surprised to see Baxter Black, the cowboy veterinarian and poet, was still alive, no less on the tv. He’s older than Imus, I think! We used to hear him regularly during long I-95 commutes between Baltimore and Wilmington listening to “Morning Edition,” and loved listening to his essays. Those were pre-Imus days on my radio (NPR Morning Edition on the a.m. run; the great Irv Homer from Philadelphia in the p.m.)
I’m having problems this morning with the WABC stream (very choppy), and had to switch over to imusonair.whatever…I’m ready to grab the kid’s baseball bat and smack it over the ragin’ lady’s head…
anyone else having problems with imusonair? keeps cutting out.
Lindablue,
I’m having the opposite today…imusonair fine today; 77 WABC chopping up every 20 seconds!
Love your red tail hawk avatar…he’s beautiful!
Thanks, frec. He’s my hero – Pale Male in Central Park.
Looking at TalkStreamLive appears Imus sites are seeing significantly more traffic this morning.
Source: http://www.talkstreamlive.com
webmaster, my avatar photo is not copyrighted. it is also my desktop and you can find it on palemale.com, a website run by Lincoln Karim, whose photos are available to everyone. He is Pale Male’s biggest advocate.
Lindablue,
I almost asked you if that was Pale Male…he is distinctive. I had looked up and around for him myself when we were in Central Park this past summer. Have you gone to Waggoner’s Gap or Hawk Mountain, PA? Great places for hawk watching…
ChanX,
Does more traffic mean the streaming will be more choppy by definition?
Thanks,
Trained Monkey Frec
T.M. Frec, More traffic could lead to choppy. WABC streams the top Talkers they have incredible resources and should be able to adjust to the situation. Send them an email.
One more thing TalkStreamLive picked up ImusOnAir feed! Need to keep reporting feeds for Imus to be fully tracked.
Frec
My daughter and sister took me to Central Park in December for my birthday to see Pale Male which I did, and Lola too, and I met and spoke with Lincoln Karim. What a thrill to see Pale Male & Lola in person. I am an avid birder, for 30 years, and have been to Hawk Mountain. But my local audubon society, now has set up a hawkwatch at Fort Washington State Park so that’s where I do my hawkwatching now, so close to home.
Birding in Alaska and Cape May are my favorites, however.
Great to see Imus numbers on talkstreamlive.
ChannelX,
I read this in a thread on the Imus pipes. Do you know anything about this? I wish D.C. had been on board since 3 Dec.
http://www.wmal.com/
Thanks again, ChanX,
I don’t know what we’d do without you high tech gurus. Believe it or not, I did get an “A” in my graduate program course called “Information Systems for Managers,” but I am still just a trained monkey…systems change so fast, I’d have to stay in class every semester.
Ironically, my laptop was on during Tony’s monologue and it suffered a complete cardiac arrest; it will not be resuscitated, at least not with my meager knowledge. I’ll be going to see the “firedogs” shortly… in the meantime, I’ll be strapped to the desktop…
TMF
This ‘Honeymoon period’ has got to end – Imus needs to get his groove back. Today is MLK BirthDay. God rest his soul. The acutal MLK Day is January 21st MY birthday. Cool! That being said, Imus need to let Karith & Tony go off the show. The intention to be PC correct was noble but not needed for the Imus in the Morning Show. The very PC incorrectness schtick of the show is what drew me to it. I did not always agree with the content. But, the show always got me thinking – in a ‘good’ way. Imus dear heart, Ya gotta know it aint working. Somethings amiss.
TMF, You may want to look into an Apple for your next computer. Cost a little more but are way more dependable and have a longer lifecycle due to operating system upgrades. Just a suggestion..
Ree, Have been watching the Washington DC situation. IMO Citadel WMAL situation is similar to WABC. With popular program and hosts Citadel’s next move depends on how Imus’s numbers (audience and financial) work out. Citadel may give it through February before deciding to broadcast Imus at WMAL or go syndication.
ChanX
ChanX,
That’s a good suggestion…the same one I’ve been hearing from my hubby, so this time, it could happen…lol
On the political front today. The Michigan Primary is a joke.
Did you know the only Democrats on the ballot do not include Barack Obama and John Edwards? DOES NOT INCLUDE THEM.
Only 20 percent of Michigan Voters are expected to participate. Also that if you write in a candidates name you ballot is void.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2008/01/13/DI2008011302680.html
Oh Channel,
Apples are for teachers. LOL. But will tell you I would not buy a PC with the Vista operating system. What a waste of Microsoft’s programmers.
This is my opinion and in no way should be construed as pushing the PC over Apples.
Bruce: TELL me about the farce of the Michigan primary! Because Michigan broke Democratic rules by moving our primary date to an earlier time…the Democratic delegates may not even be COUNTED or ACKNOWLEDGED at the Democratic Convention this year!
On another subject:
Along with the major movers and shakers in politics contributing heavily towards various parties: Big Pharm Money, Big Defense Contractor Money…and one NOT mentioned too frequently, yet behind the scenes…frightening.
The following is from the HuffPost (July 27th 2007).
Watch the video…you will see three persons who were regular guests on The Imus In The Morning Show on it.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/max-blumenthal/rapture-ready-the-unauth_b_57826.html
Hi Donald,
Same here in Florida. But at least all the candidates are on the ballot.
Didn’t know you were from Michigan or did I read that wrong?
Reports say only 20 percent of eligible Michigan Voters will be going to the Polls
Yeah, I heard it’s between Hillary Clinton and “uncommitted.” It’ll be a riot if she loses. Is anyone going to watch the Democratic debate on MSNBC tonight? I might kill the boycott just for tonight. Want to see the sparks fly betwen Satan and Obama, with the Boy Wonder trying to but in.
Bruce…yes, I live in Grand Rapids Michigan. I moved here 3 years ago after losing my 21 year job at Northwest Airlines at Detroit Metropolitan Airport…I was born in Wyandotte Michigan, and lived downriver from Detroit all my life.
Harley…it won’t MATTER who wins the Democratic vote in Michigan…The Democratic Party has stated that our delegates won’t be recognized, or counted.
I am hoping for McCain coming in first, Huckabee second and Romney third.
I wouldn’t buy a used car from Mitt Romney.
Harley,
I would love to see Satan lose to the uncommited. Would laugh my butt off.
And Donald, Think I remember you talking about working for an Airport. Would like to learn more off group.

The Other Foot
By Bob Parks, Intel Radio Network
Under normal circumstances, this election cycle would be gearing up for the coming explosion. We’d be waiting for the inevitable. At some point in the coming weeks, a Republican would be accused of being a racist.
With that, it’s kind of fun watching the media scratch their collective, oversized, dandruffed heads, contemplating why the current Democrat primary race is being plagued by the very infection normally reserved for their enemies.
Democrats now have the shoe on their other foot. They have spent decades honing their skills, planting race IEDs on the sides of the Republican campaign trail, waiting for some unsuspecting conservative candidate to set off a race controversy. Every speech, every appearance, every word uttered from a Republican’s mouth was dissected in search for the intolerance ammunition to be used for Democrat blaxploitation.
It’s not news that Democrats have used blacks for their political benefit. Blacks have been told they are victims of racism. Blacks have been intentionally kept angry because of the lack of campaign promised improvements in their lives. Blacks have been conditioned to look at every syllable uttered by a Republican and insert a racist motive where one didn’t exist. Blacks have been strategically rendered as ultra-sensitive as a bone bruise on the shin.
While Democrats knew where all the bombs were planted, never in their wildest dreams did they think they would need to disarm them.
In what were probably typical retorts between candidates, the Clintons are now experiencing the angst caused when their words have been reinterpreted, motives have been assumed, and the unintentional has now been taken as the ingrained.
While the Clintons are probably not racist people, they now have to spend valuable campaign time attempting to convince a portion of our population that they’re not. My only question to them is, “How does it feel?”

Has anyone watched the video from HuffPost posted at comment #129 yet?
In my own opinion…this is a PERFECT example of certain “churches” that should lose their tax exempt status…WAY over the line…the senators at this convention ALL appeared on Imus’s Show….two of them quite regularly…
Bruce…thanks for the post (#135).
The Clinton’s have always thought of their legacy (primarily Bill Clinton’s Presidency) as Bill being the “first Black President”. Now they are running against a Black presidential contender… which obviously has them in a conundrum.
…SO….yes they find themselves in a reality check now. The question being: Who will better represent the Black, Afro-American community?
This gets more and more interesting by the day…at least for me.
…and by the way, to see Hillary get beaten by “uncommitted”….priceless. Not that it will matter in the grand scheme of things…yet priceless…LOL.
Thanks for your kind words Donald,
Now onto Imus’ new set. I have read so many comments regarding the picture depicted on another support site as truly a toilet seat.
Give me a break. Doesn’t anyone see that the set/desk actually looks like a Horse-Shoe.
Those people need to get a life.
Hello, Started a new thread! Sorry about the length of it but Buchanan wouldn’t shut up! chanX
I’m going to miss seeing Col. Jack’s photo when I open the site. He’s better-looking than Pat Buchanan, especially in his uniform.
Thanks for the “second opinion” Bruce re the computer, PC vs. Apple. The only thing I know for sure is my current laptop appears dead. It might be having one of those “going to the other side” experiences,” but I don’t think it will be making the trip back to our world. I will take it in anyway and see what they say.
Frec – open the site from here, short scroll and you will see the Colonel’s pic

ChanX, Super and thanX! I have a hard time with “letting go!”
