First of all let me apologize for not having posted or commented much in the last few weeks. Let’s just say “real life” has been slapping me ’bout the head and shoulders with a over-sized halibut, or at least that’s what it feels like. Damn that real life! Damn it straight Chappaqua, NY! (Isn’t that where Satan lives?)
On to other things…
Finally got to hear Debra Dickerson. I think I’m in love. What a brilliant, humble, honest, endearing woman. Her students can count themselves lucky. I would go back to school just to sit in her classroom.
It’s time for an I-Nation flex, folks. Let’s all take a few minutes to thank her. And lets put her book on the Amazon bestsellers list.

Heads up guys, Part 2 is the same as Part 1.

Thanx HQ92
Thanks PT! I’m getting upset over at Imus Truth. Someone HAS to be playing over there. A fan of Imus wouldn’t be so sensitive…..
PT,
I felt like I WAS in her classroom…many cows-over-the-moon ago, I took a course like that with a professor just like her and I enjoyed it…now, thanks to Imus and electronic wizardry, we can all be Debra’s students. 🙂
Whatever the pro’s and con’s debated about the new show, Imus is keeping his promise to raise the level of discourse on this topic.
LOVED that interview!!!!! She wanted to come back, too. Wonder what the NUTS over at Media Matters thought of that? Maybe someone needs to need that Anderson chick this. Wonder if Mr. Deggans was listening. They would still call him a racist, I bet. Imus is keeping his word! Where are the others that promised to have this discussion on race? Hey ROKER, SHARPTON, JACKSON, IFILL, etc.—WHERE ARE YOU?
I meant someone may need to send that Anderson chick this. It may help her get over her Morning Sickness………..
HQ92,
Some of the posters at I Truth are smart folks who get Imus, understand him and who feel disappointed for one reason or another in the new show. Thats fine.
Problem over there is that there are many posters who DON”T get Imus and never have. They want him to say “penis” every two minutes lol. Those folks need to sign up for Sirius and listen to Stern.
You are so right Ski. Imus doesn’t need to be over the top to be funny.
Thanks my Friend
Everyone,
I posted this on Imus Truth, I am really tired of the viewer email on RFD TV it is all Crook and Chase? They are running Crook and Chase viewer email, during the Imus in the Morning Program. Here is the email address.
Imus@RFDTV.com
Look at the PC Jam Proctor and Gamble have gotten themselves in:
Wow………………………….
First Imus, then this!
ENJOY!
What a pickle!
What P&G really needs is a well organized militia of blogladytes to come to their defense. A group in the mddle that could adress both sides of the aisle.
Having the host of a nationally syndicated Radio Program on their side wold be helpful to.
Maybe it wasn’t such a good Ideal to piss off the I-Nation.
Thank you whomever embedded the video.
Craig Crawford has a trail mix video blog discussing last nights dem debate heres the deal he leaves this little nugget planted in the back of your mind what happens come 1212 will we see another HRC run at the white house?

Thanx ChannelX, the I-mash pipes.
I’m a long-time reader, first-time poster…and can I make a friendly suggestion?
I’ve often noticed that the entries on this blog contain a lot of typos. (I’m not talking about the comments – I’m talking about the main entries, front and center, at the top of the page.) Now, I make plenty of typos myself – it happens.
But…I’ve noticed that a lot of the front-page entries contain WAY too many errors. Not just the occasional slip-up that happens to all of us. I’m talking three or four every paragraph.
I’m not trying to sound like I have a stick up my you-know-what. But I understand that this site wants to present the best image possible, and I wasn’t sure if the writers were aware of their mistakes.
BTW, I would love to help out with the errors. I can post corrections here in the comments, or you can email me if you’d like. I’m really good with spelling/punctuation/grammar and could lend a hand, if asked.
I just know that y’all want to put your best face forward…and I think that I could help with that!
I’m sire eviryone whu rins tis sit wil bi hippy ti hive u hilp.
Man between the lady on I Truth obsessing about no clock on RFDTV and this……
Yikes!
ski wolf,
Mel just wants one more clock…just one more clock baby 🙂
Imus asked for one in the shape of a revolving cow, I myself would like to take a look at that graphic. Now whose job is that? Not Big Foot’s, but someone at the RFD TV network right? I thought they had a clock at first’ when they first introduced the crawl? the common clock, you see on all the cablenews networks.
Miche1le
Thank you, I appreciate you offering. I think PT was still loopy from the halibut slapping he recently experienced 🙂
Is there anything else? I know you stated, you are a reader and I for one would like your feedback. What do you like the most ? I know the Readers are out there, I appreciate it when one of you post.
Ree
Miche1le, Grateful for any help. Always open for corrections suggestions and criticisms (positive or otherwise).
ThankX
Yes Michelle,
We are a group of concerned Imus supporters. And we do like to have everything perfect all the time.
But like the program “Imus in the Morning”, sometimes we are in such a rush we do not spell check. As the program has technical gliches.
We are not English and Grammar teachers here. We are normal people with extraordinary desires to get our message out. And sometimes these messages are not formatted properly.
Thank you for your input. Possibly you could be our grammar coach in future postings.
Now Ski…. Please be nice….You are a valued member as everyone here is.
Thanks in advance
P.T. :
I did appreciate your post at ImustTruth as to the phrase “Token”. To reduce, or to belittle a person based solely upon race, creed or color…is, to me at least, a chicken way of perpetuating racism of all persuasions…and is repugnant, morally…and ethically.
I am reminded (even before Don Imus was fired last April) of Don Imus talking about all people in general…and how he explained it to his Son, Wyatt.
It was, in so many words, :
People are like cars. There are many different makes, colors and what matters is the person within.
Meaning?…all people have a God given soul…none are greater, nor inferior.
In the year 2025…Caucasians…for the first time in our countries’ history will be a minority. Would the appellation of “Token White ” be offensive to Caucasians?….
…I believe it would.
I apologize, in advance, for bringing this into the discussion here…but thank you P.T.
ON subject…lol…that interview was GREAT…and one of the best since Imus has returned. Bruce, as usual…excellent YouTube work!
…and to Frec: I am happy that Don Imus is proving to be “a man at his word”…and is, indeed, raising issues that have long been neglected and not addressed by the Main Stream Media….and it needs to be done…and I am elated that Don Imus IS doing it.
I, for one, am so happy to have him back.
PT are you the anonymous person over on Imus Truth?
Hey Ski,
Don’t be mean to the “newcomers.” We’ve who’ve been posting here awhile have learned to “toughen up.” We also can “read” one another’s style of humor…we know to not take everything seriously…or we can dish it back more easily. But we should give newbies a break.
That said, newbies might want to be wary of making their first-post a “critique” of other posters, however well-intentioned or even factually correct.
Lastly, (and this may be gross hypocrisy on my part) but I swear I saw the following “bumper snicker” on my way home from getting gas this afternoon.
It read, “I’m not mean, you’re just a sissy.”
Hey y’all,
I’m not gonna correct your POSTS at all…yikes, even I’m not that anal-retentive, and besides, you’d probably find mistakes in MINE! 🙂 I’m talking about your front-page articles. I’ve noticed that there are often several mistakes on them.
And Skiwolf…you remind me of my boyfriend. 😀
Miche1e,
I appreciate all criticisms and suggestions, just please phrase them nicely cause I cry easily. Just so everyone knows I do use spell check (sometimes two or three of them). Sometimes I miss. Sometimes I make up my own words as I need them (English is a living language).
Harley,
No I’m not “Anonymous” I just agree with them on that point, especially when it comes from certain posters. I’m also not that touchy just this sticks in my craw cause of the implication hidden in the context.
I would never refer to you as our “token black poster” here cause your way more valuable to this site and to me than a mere “token”. I feel that way about Tony and Karith too.
But that doesn’t mean I won’t bust anybodies chops It’s all about context.
Donald,
Almost missed your feedback, but thanks. Even when the I-Man takes two steps forward and one step back, it’s still progress.
In truth, I feel Imus’s December 3 pledge never to do or say anything that would make the Rutgers women regret having forgiven him is too high a goal. It’s an impossible standard to meet. After all, he has no control over how they choose to “take” anything he says or does; that’s up to them. And it leaves him open to all the self-appointed monitors who think it’s their job to keep his feet to the fire.
Doing his best, of which I think the interview with Debra Dickerson is an example, is as much as anyone should expect. As always, it’s about progress not perfection.
Today must have been my day to “get messages” because I passed a church marquee that read “Willingness to be Transformed.” Emphasis on “willingness.”
🙂
LOL —- I think that is what Limbaugh would call a
“drive by” spell check. Thought it was pretty funny.
I do have to say some folks in these parts sure take themselves seriously. I guess that’s good to a point. However, what the hell is the good of an IMUS related site without sarcasm and humor?
Just one more clock baby….just one more clock.
PT,
I just finished posting to Donald Inks about the anonymous poster, who I wish would just pick a sign on name, makes me think it is a kid because anonmity is like a layer of protection to them a sophomore in college or something? yeah that is a kid to me…I finished my last post on the on the other site because I was offended, with the condescending tone an unknown poster directed at Harley, a grown woman. Well guess what My being offended is my problem, that is the problem with the whole issue about being Offended, it’s fine to state I am offended, it is a whole other ball game expecting other posters to act on it. Like ostracising other posters who don’t agree. I have told people before posting negative put downs of people, if you want me to get ugly, I can get ugly. I think whoever anonymous is owes Harley an apology.
We all love you Michelle…
Remember the British Group named the Beatles? Well your name is the title of one of my favorite songs.
So keep on checking in and explaining about header errors. We love to hear from you
Thanks guys for sticking up for me up on the other site. I didn’t find the poster using “token bro” offensive, Hell, I laughed and kept on reading. I didn’t expect someone to come on the site and start attacking folks. I didn’t think it was wrong to ask what were “acceptable phrases” on the site. It looks like the PC police are coming out from everywhere. Dang, I watched The Simpsons tonight and one of the minority characters called Bart a “cracker”. Did I jump on the phone and call my local Fox affiliate? No, I knew it was a joke, laughed and enjoyed the rest of the show. Why is EVERYTHING taken so seriously, now?
Harley,
Thank YOU for sticking up for us! 🙂
Professor Dickerson’s retrospective of African-American literature reminded me of Phillis Wheatley, America’s first black poet and author of the first published book ever by an African American. Dickerson’s observation that the historical literature speaks to “how to live in a world that despises us” is reflected even in this earliest verse with all the constraints upon her given her place and status.

It is becoming increasingly evident that the Imus Truth site is in a melt down.
It hasn’t changed one bit since I was there. And now has become a face of many new comers who disparage the I-Man everyday.
Everyone here that is worth their salt should (In My Opinion) not waste their time there.
I know of 4 people here who I admire that are. And it is becoming not a support site, but a hate site.
You all try to clear the air up over there and it goes on deaf ears. So why not give up while your ahead.
That is my final rant on Imus Truth. And in the immortal words of Jack Nicholson, “You can’t stand the truth”. And they cannot.
Dickerson means well I sure, but she’s wrong on the race diagnosis.
It’s not an urge to hierarchy but an urge to perfection, coupled to a scapegoat principle. She’s an academic, so may be able to use a reference to Kenneth Burke on the matter.
The scapegoat in this case is Whites.
Going from diagnosis to action, what has to happen for Blacks to gain dignity _as a race_ (individually works the same way but is not stymied politically) is for Blacks to take up a collection for poor whites.
Because dignity works backwards from what you think. The only source of dignity is when you answer a call from somebody else. Somebody else doesn’t give you dignity ; you adopt it yourself.
In particular Whites don’t withhold it. Blacks fail to take it.
If you want to work _as a race_ for dignity then simply _help some other race_.
Individually Blacks don’t have a political obstacle ; they work they way anybody else does, and are as dignified as anybody.
But politically there’s an urge to obstacle, in order to preserve a convenient arrangement for the leaders who have taken ownership of it.
Academic reference for dignity : Emmanuel Levinas, _Difficult Freedom_, “The Messianic Texts.”
Whites have been helping Blacks for years and years and taking their dignity from it. The idea that Blacks ought to try it hasn’t come up publically, as far as I know, though every individual knows it really.
To that extent the Dickerson cultural angle has no relevance to the problem it tries to address.
Harley ~ I like you. You stood up for Imus as an African-American female & your Avatar is inspired! I have learned so much from your postings & links and I thank-you. I value your opinion because you have a sense of humor. Period. If you have been an I-Fan token black from the beginning, then you belong right here. We love you Harley because you GET IT!
My black history, or my American Indain ancestry, no I am not black or American Indian.
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Flatt River
Orange County was formed from Granville in 1753 the Flatt River area was in the new county. A 1755 Tax list of Orange County, NC. ( ref. Melungeon and Other Pioneer Families) If a family had at least 1/16 Indian or black they were sometimes listed mulatto. Gedion Bunch 1 tithe(mulatto) Micajer Bunch 1 tithe (mulatto) Thomas Collins 3 tithes (mulatto) Samuel Collins 2 tithes (mulatto) John Collins 1 tithe (mulatto) Moses Ridley (Riddle) 1 tithe & wife Mary (mulattoes) Thomas Gibson 3 tithes (mulatto) Charles Gibson 1 tithe (mulatto) George Gibson 1 tithe (mulatto) Mager Gibson 1 tithe (mulatto)
See the last entry Mager Gibson, that is my ancestor, what am I? Answer- American 🙂 I always encourage people to research their family history, it is so enlightening. It does change your prespective on American History. Karith tried to address it on her piece on African American History. Instead of repeating rote contributions by African American’s in our history every February, have a closer look, it goes alot deeper then many American’s think.
When I started my research, I thought I decended from Irish Famine Victims, I do but only my father’s mother’s people. America the great melting pot. Oh the Irish, you want to talk about people who have been dispised!!!!
The words “token” and “minority” mean two different things…entirely. If you are in any minority (religious, ethnicity, etc.), you are not, nor could be referred to as being “token”.
Token, the word being used in this context, comes from the word tokenism:
“tokenism
Main Entry:
to·ken·ism
Pronunciation:
\ˈtō-kə-ˌni-zəm\
Function:
noun
Date:
1961
: the policy or practice of making only a symbolic effort (as to desegregate)”
From Merriam-Webster Online
“the policy or practice of making only a symbolic effort (as to desegregate)”
Taking the meaning of the word tokenism, and then using the word “token” in reference to Karith and Tony underlines what you actually are saying:
Donald Imus is being deceitful and only “using” Karith and Tony to promote a false agenda, namely…promoting the conversation of the discussion about racism in our country and culture.
I don’t believe that is what Don Imus is doing, but to others…it is.
So you are, in a direct way challenging Don Imus’ credibility on the issue, and saying he really did not have a “life changing experience” last April over the damage caused by the words he uttered.
You are, in fact, outright saying he is a phony.
I respectfully disagree with anyone who honestly believes that is the case.
(The above is a direct replication of a post I made at IT, reprinted here…because the conversation has followed over to this site. It is not my usual practice of double cross postings between the sites…but it was easier for me this way. I apologize in advance.)
P.T.:
Regarding your post #28…you hit the nail on the head.
It is all about CONTEXT. The poster, or any poster, that refers to Tony or Karith as “Token Bro” or “Tokens” is not imitating a Simpsons cartoon, nor a comedy sketch. Using the term as it was used…a verbal insult…is entirely a different matter…and not at all funny. As I stated above, it is not being quite fair to Don Imus either.
Donald Inks,
It is the radio business and Imus has been in the Biz along time, what would I call Imus? A REALIST. I also don’t see anybody else having the conversations, he is having on air? Point me to them if they are going on somewhere else and I am missing them?
My take on “token” coming up, they think Imus caved into pressure. I don’t, I think now he has the freedom to have the converstations we don’t get to hear other places…what do viewers and listeners expect. Imus we are going to talk about race relations in this country, oh by the way we are all white…it wouldn’t make sense would it? So no I don’t see tokens…in fact I see brave volunteers, alot of people don’t get it, that Karith and Tony are taking it from all sides…I want them to know, I appreciate them getting up at an ungodly hour of the morning and doing their best to entertain me. They do entertain me….I am never ever going to forget Tony’s line about 52 card pickup at a home depot…Race Cards, you could take out your Maureen Dowd card and play old maid…puleeze alot of women wish, they could look as good as that old maid.
A deeper look at Black History month.
This is link is about free african americans in the American colonial period. This is my last post on the subject because I know that I am a history nut and things I find interesting put other people to sleep 🙂 I did want to leave a contribution though and take Karith’s piece on Black History month a little further…you know kick the can just a little further down the road. My own family line the Gibsons are mentioned in this compliation.
http://www.freeafricanamericans.com/
It doesn’t hurt to take a look back where you come from and it is not impossible for African American’s to trace their history it is more difficult if they share the slave ancestor narrative because when they get past 1870 they have to research the white families too, it doubles up the reasearch.
Ree,
Thank you for your post #42. It brightened my morning. 🙂
I hope I did not come across as attacking anyone in particular…but when I see posters using those appellations towards Tony and Karith…it makes me sick. As I said before, I am extremely proud of what Imus has done…and is truly showing his sincerity towards what he stated he believed needed to be done…and how he has chosen to be remembered in his career in radio…to be a useful tool for transformation by discussions on issues that, as you have pointed out, the Major Media won’t touch at all…at least not truly in depth.
There is, indeed, a real redemption and transformation for those that seek it.
Kinky always said Imus was a “truth seeking missile”.
laree,
Many years ago my mother’s cousin self published a book on our family history on my grandmother’s side. Thing is about 600 pages long I guess. He did reaserch both here and in England and Ireland. Interesting stuff to say the least and something to keep around forever.
My mother was a member of the DAR so that part of the family has been around for many moons. Some interesting characters in this book, some that bring pride and others well maybe not so much.
Laree,
I think you should keep posting your material here, especially as long as this thread is still open and it is still Black History Month. That is what this is for. Your knowledge is awesome. You can teach, and you should. If there is anything within these often far-reaching threads and posts that the I-Man himself would want to see happen, that is it! That’s what he said in so many words to Carl Jeffers – he’s having the dialogue and if anyone doesn’t like it, too bad.
Professor Dickerson was here to lend gravitas to the lighthearted bits that Karith and Tony have been doing. Each enlighten in their own way. I just hope Imus continues seeking creative ways to keep it going. We are going to need it more than ever when the real political battle begins this summer. Although I hope we won’t see violence, it’s going to be every bit a “revolutionary” as 1968.
P.S. I have been looking for information about the melungeons for quite a while because I am convinced we have some in our family tree.
Frec,
I have posted links to family history research sources including Melungeon. Check my Genealogy blogs.
http://www.myspace.com/cantgetherefromthere
I belong to Historical Melungeon Group, we do not believe that Melungeons are descendents of Turkish people. The thing is the MHA had a relationship and recently a fall out from asscociation to Turkish Orgs..the Turkish Org’s using them politically in this country to sow political influence by showing early American roots…maybe there is early Turkish roots in this country but they were not Melungeon. That has been discredited over and over again but if you google you will see alot of Turkish melungeon post ,they saturated the internet with it I have even watched youtubes of this rubbish. Two members of the Melungeon Heritage Association, recently resigned because of this scam. They refused to be used in the Armenian Genocide issue. I am glad it finally came to a head but the internet now has this “Stuff” and I mean to say “Crap” litered with all this Melungeons were people of Turkish descent…no they were not! Melungeons appear to be tri racial isolates made up of European, African and American Indian heritage…our own Collin cousins who are part of the Core Melungeon DNA project, have been identified descending from Saponi Indians, through historical records.
This is a big scandal now going on among Melungeon researchers. I have not been a member of the MHA and I have never bought into the Turkish orgins of Melungeons Theory. You know what I am like, I don’t get convinced of much easily.
While we discuss the obvious racism that is still prevalent in America let me tell you a little story.
As you all know I was born in Newark New Jersey. My family were those that you would consider racist. They used the “N” word the Jigaboo and every word you can manage to know as racist. The word African/American was never spoken in the 50’s and 60′. And even through the 70’s.
If they were talking about a Black person they used the word Colored. Another word unacceptable in this day and time.
Something else that was common then and is still now was the sentence “Some of my friends are colored too”. Sounded a little like well I am really not prejudiced.
I never used these words. And as I entered Corporate America in the late 60’s I worked with many Black workers. And yes, they were delegated to jobs of less importance. Which I could never understand even at 18 or 19. But they became my friends.
At the time we had moved to Northern NJ in a little town in Morris County. I think we had one Black student in the grammar school and 3 in my high school. So you know it was a predominatly white neighborhood and community.
One day I invited a very good friend of mine to my house on a Saturday. He was black and was a professional. After we spent the afternoon playing music and chess. He left and my parents were a little perplexed. Because they received from many of the neighbors phone calls asking why a colored person was at the house. They feared my parents were going to sell the house to a black person. How ignorant was that?
Well that was then and this is now. I never spoke or taught these words or feelings to my three children. They learned their slang from friends and co-workers. But if the word was uttered in my house they were corrected.
Does it mean I am a great person? No, not at all. I believe that everyone on earth is here for a purpose. God doesn’t make mistakes you know. Everyone is equal in my eyes unless they prove to be disloyal or bad. And that means everyone. White, Black purple or green. Doesn’t matter. If your a bad person I do not want anything to do with you.
Now to a lighter subject:
This will relax you. Enjoy
http://hytaipan.home.comcast.net/~hytaipan/media/serenity2.html
Frec,
If you go to this blog and scroll down to the bottom you can see what a big a scandal this is, the resignation of two of the members of MHA. This has been our main topic on the melungeon heritage yahoo group, for the last week, this has such wide reaching political implications. I have seen articles online applying to our Senators and Congress people, lobbying them to take a position in the Armenian Genocide Issue.
My position from the beginning Melungeons are not of Turkish descent and I am really happy I am not associated with the MHA.
http://historical-melungeons.blogspot.com/
This is the stuff I do, when I am not commenting on Imus 🙂
Been lurking for awhile, but I feel as though I need to weigh in now that the discourse has been ramped up a notch.
To say Karith and Tony are tokens is to totally miss the point. Although they have been hired, obviously, to provide another perspective on the program, I don’t think either of them has demonstrated that they are there only because they are black. Tony’s pieces have consistently been clever and funny, his delivery of them has improved, and, as my wife has informed me, (should I be worried?) he’s not hard on the eyes. Karith’s sense of humor is diametrically opposed, more so because she is a woman, less because she is African American, and although some take issue with her ‘voice’ and her point of view, and others argue that ‘she’s just not funny’, I appreciate the fact that the program is much richer. The stew has more ingredients, and IMHO, has all the elements it used to have, and then some. We’ve had a McCord rant already, Bernie’s talking again, Lou’s piping up more and more, and Warner has been stellar. Perhaps some of the more ‘in your face’ humor has been pulled back, but to be honest, although Bernie has had his share of great moments on the show, I honestly believe that his point of view used to be very one note, really ugly, and not clever. There’s a difference between Imus slipping the word ‘erection’ into a commercial or an interview, (the classic bad boy image he’s had for forty years) and references to ‘Tuna Lickin’ Twats’. I think that Bernie’s input over the past two months has been so much better, his interjections now are more pointed and have greater weight. He needs to host his own show. I can see him being as big as Hannity. I too, miss Larry, but not some of the material, which seemed to me to be much ‘older’ than some of the other stuff, and Rob seems to be giving Karith and Tony space to allow them to become more comfortable on the show. I’m a fan of the Godfather movies so I love the Don Corleone, but I miss the songs. I could do without the Brian Wilson. It just seems mean to me.
That said, (and sorry it’s so long) thanks for this site. It’s great to read the comments from other ‘DonHeads’ out there!
billysolhargus,
Thank you for that great post…and don’t be just a “lurker” in the future…post away, my friend! It’s good to have you here. 😉
Billysolhargus,
Bravo! No more lurkin’ in the shadows for you, buddy. I have a feeling there are more bees in your bonnet… so, you’re gonna get your bee-hive out here, right? 🙂
hey everyone, please keep in mind that generally readers-to-posters ran about 40-to-1 on SupportImus.org.
The stats on this site don’t show so much detail.
From Neil Best’s Watchdog (courtesy of Chanx Imash):
Sid Rosenburg on Don Imus:
“The return of Don Imus?…What a bunch of bull! I took the bullet for Imus for five years. I said all the stuff that made Don Imus important again, to put him back in the papers again…that was all me. I took the bullet for five years…and now he has ripped his shirt like Laurence Olivier in “The Jazz Singer.”
Here is the link (note click on the link Neil supplies to hear the entire audio.
http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/watchdog/blog/2008/02/sid_rosenberg_not_a_big_fan_of.html
Here is the audio link to Sid Rosenberg’s rant…
http://www.790theticket.com/audioplayer.php?mp3=71033865Michael+Harrison+Interview+-+2-20-08.mp3&show=The%20Sid%20Rosenberg%20Show&id=4155
Ah Sid Rosenberg LMAO.
Only time as an IMUS listener I was disenchanted with the IMAN was when he fired Rosenberg for the breast cancer stuff. Hypocritical at best given past comments by himself, Bernie and others.
Now I’m no big Rosenberg fan, but that was clearly something pushed by Dierdre. Imus had said stuff far worse before and after he fired Rosenberg. Was a raw deal and I’m sure that is why he still is pissed to this day.
To your point ImusTimes, I was a very frequent reader of the .org site but never posted until after Imus was back on the air. No reason —- just never did.
Loved that Sid audio. Pile of you-know-what that he is, I still enjoyed him, then and now.
If only partisan politics or the Mid-East conflict could be resolved this expeditiously.
Say no more.
Well, actually, one more thought. Sid may have been “on a rant” but Michael Harrison was the one in charge of that interview. That was masterful!
Okay, last thought on Rosenberg Rant…Sid gets high marks for his gracious acceptance. In the end, he gets what he wants: attention. Harrison promised Sid will be “on the list” and get a feature article about his comeback (with quotes from Sid’s parents). No doubt we’ll be treated to a large dose of Imus when the story is written.
Here is what I said on the Imus Times note regarding Sid Rosenberg.
The shoester returns.

Frec,
It looks like they were trying to approach Clinton, this blog does discuss many politicians approached to vote against recognizing the Armenian Genocide. I wish the Real World Would Just Go Away 🙂

ROTFL over twisted-sentence in the Shuster update. I can’t wait to see where chickaboomer’s obsession with it leads her. Professor Strunk would have been stumped, no doubt. The Churchill quote (comment by jimbotalk) is lol outloudeven…perhaps the best and only comeback! I’m not even going to try 🙂
Laree:
Positively byzantine! Makes me wonder why anyone in their right mind would want to be President…
Bush wanted to be president so that he could start a war. Bush lied – our troops died. Still are dying.
McCain wants to be president so he can continue with Bush’s war. He & his Neocons LOVE war.
Stdomsgrl,
McCain is not my first choice for President. However there could be worse candidates on the Republican side. How about the Huckster (Huckabee). Do you like him? Also what happened to Mitt Romney? Would he make a good President? I think he could have if he had not suspended his campaign.
As you know my choice is Obama if he makes it to the nomination against McCain. But under no circumstances would I vote for Hillary (Rotten) Clinton. More baggage then anyone has. Her husband is a liar. And she can’t even mount an attack at Obama without being boo’ d by the crowd.
As far as McCain continuing Bushes war as you said. Let us face the facts. We are already there. Our troops need the support of all Americans. And these brave soldiers men and women volunteered for their service to protect the United States.
So whether we got into this war under false pretenses or not, it is too late to think we can turn tail and get out of there. We have been in Korea for over 50 years. McCain knows we are not in there for another 100 years. But we will have a presence for a long time.
It is a show of force to the neighbors surrounding Iraq that we are demonstrating that the U.S. Will not put up with their threats.
So I disagree with you respectively that this is why McCain wants to be President. He disagrees with Bushes policies more than he agrees.
Have a fine Sunday.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080224/ap_on_el_pr/clinton
McCain in my opinion is the only logical, rational choice to get us out of Iraq. Unfortunately we can’t, at this point, just pull the plug and leave. The consequences of that are to dire.
Granted the war never should have happened in the first place. It was a war engaged under false pretenses for all the wrong reasons. It is a war we cannot win, in any case.
However, we can’t just cut and run. We now owe it to the Iraqi people to try and make it work as best as possible. If not, our thousands dead and tens of thousands wounded will truly be in vain, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi dead and wounded.
Re: ‘cut & run’ ~ nope ~ we gotta ‘stop & leave’. 🙂
Wrong way to approach it in my opinion STdomsgirl. Stop and leave sounds easy doesn’t it. We are in more danger doing that than if we stay the course and leave when peace of some sort has come to Iraq and they can handle the security.
Do you know when we cut and run or “Stopped and Left” Vietnam we were about 3 days away from beating the North Vietnamese.
This war is not like a conventional war. We no longer have an identifiable enemy. They are terrorists hidden in womens clothing and normal taxi drivers.
So to cut and run or in your words “Stop and Leave” is wrong headed thinking in my opinion. And this isn’t the Bush philosophy. It’s the boots on the ground in Iraq.
Don’t forget STDOMgirl. Over 58,000 men and women died in Vietnam for truly nothing. Are we going to honor our dead by quitting? No way.
Now if you receive information Regarding Barack Obama as being a radical Muslim that says it was checked at snopes as factual. Read this.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp
Bruce,
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend may be “prominent” by virtue of her family connections, but she isn’t the sharpest crayon in the Kennedy box. Her own political career is distinguished mainly by losing her Democratic campaign for Governor in a true-blue state. I will say she IS good at blowing with the wind, so this must be the way the wind is blowing…
I just report what I receive using ChannelXRFR’s Pipes. I do not disagree with you Frec as you know I am a friend of yours. But when you see the name Kennedy you believe it is important.
Doesn’t matter one way or the other for me. Hillary is still going to lose.
Bruce,
You are right, and I wasn’t suggesting that it shouldn’t be reported… it should, and thank you. You didn’t write the headline calling her “prominent,” HuffPo did.
I just wanted to say imho from seeing her up-close-and personal that most of KKT’s prominence is in her own head. She builds up her Kennedy connections, but there is little behind it. She’s not her father, and she’s not even her brothers. IMHO.
So what is Obama’s vision for the future of the Middle East?
Thinking specifically about Iraq, what are the regional political consequences for a Obama’s withdrawal plan? Do the Iranian Shia for example sweep in and take over Iraq thereby threatening Saudi Arabia Sunnis? Is the United States prepared to live with the consequences?
We were never prepared to live with the consequences of having the dangerous Bush as our President – awful man -who led America into Iraq on a lie.
Frec,
This is one of the people who just resigned from the MHA he is a radio director:) All things considered after Wayne Winkler resigned and Dennis Maggard resigned, there are only 4 people left on the board of MHA. That is all MHA is a board but it got used to influence the Armenian issue. I just want clarity I want the term Melungeon removed from any discussion btw the Turkey vs Armenian issue. Oh on occasion Wayne Winkler described the Historical Melungeon Researchers as Neo Critics. We insisted on following accepted historical and genealogical standards, NO self indentifying. One of names we would be called was Ridgemites 🙂 We insisted that people have records-documents that connected them to Newmans Ridge, Blackwater, Tennessee.
http://dntricities.blogspot.com/2007/02/message-from-wets-station-director.html
Frec, Do you have a myspace or something ,we can have this discussion in a different location, this is going to bore Imus posters.I just thought it was interesting because there was a Radio connection to this Wayne, was the president of the MHA.
Its great to say we are leaving Iraq, militarily the US can leave at anytime. US fought our way into and can fight their way out of Iraq if need be.
But no one has addressed the approaches to and consequences of leaving Iraq. Tough question, what is the acceptable political solution for Iraq?
Well, since Bush has done a ‘heck of a job’ {like Brownie did} I guess we can Shock & Awe our way out of Iraq.
Stdomsgirl,
The lie was perpetrated on him and the British Government. 9/11 was not a lie. It really happened.
Saddam Hussein refused to cooperate with the U.N. Inspectors. He continually told everyone he had WMD’s and he very well could have and were moved after the warnings by the Bush administration.
Now I am not defending the decision of the administration to go to war with Iraq. We would have been better served by waiting and attacking Afghanistan. Resolution 1441 authorized us to use any means necessary to make Hussein cooperate. He had plenty of warning.
So your argument is empty. Bush didn’t lie. Intelligence was faulty.
For your answer to Imus Truth regarding Barack Obama refer to my post #74 and check the snopes page.
This is for anyone battling the rumor that Barack Obama is a Muslim with close ties to the radical element.
Bruce: the ONLY intelligence that was faulty is Bush’s he didn’t have any then – he has none now. What a dufus.
911 happened – Iraq had nothing to do with it. It was Osama Bin Laden & other Saudis & Egyptian evil-doers. Have we caught Osama yet? In Afghanistan?
Bush still lies & people die because of him.
Bruce: poor dear – sounds as though you have drank the ‘kool-aid’ offered by the Bushies.
Yes Stdomsgirl. Iraq had nothing to do with it. But who were we to fight or go after with the facts the U.S. had? We attacked a known threat to the region. The attrocities perpetrated by Hussein. Eveything combined made them a likely target by the administration.
This discussion is over. Fight your battles regarding the Iraq war elsewhere, or discuss Black History Month. You can even discuss the Political spectrum going on right now.
But forget the Iraq War. We are there. Here we are safe. When the dirty bomb enters Maine through Canada and sets off a dirty bomb in your area, you may think twice about this discussion.
We will never forget 911 nor the disgraceful Iraq diversion.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/24/dean-goes-after-mccain-on_n_88189.html
Howard Dean is just as nutty as he was in 2000. Between his Crazy Scream and Hillary’s Cackle, they would make a great team. NOT!
It looks like the NYT hit piece just helped McCain.
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/02/24/nyt-public-editor-okay-youre-right-our-mccain-story-reeked/
STD,
You make some valid points about Bush, et al.
I’ve posted before my belief that they wanted to go to war and were quite happy to have 9/11 and so called weapons of mass destruction as an excuse.
As previously stated, it is my belief that 9/11 kept many on the sidelines who should have known better and should have said NO. I count Colin Powell and everyone in the state department on that list, including Condi Rice.
Be that as it may, we are there and therefore have to finish as best we can. A very unfortunate circumstance to say the least.
John McCain is the guy who knows this and is best prepared to eventually get us out of there in the most positive fashion for both us and the Iraqi people.
Laree,
I don’t have a “myface” (my teen daughter made fun of me for mis-calling it that). Can I e-mail you through yours? Thanks.
When Hillary stood by the bully Bush re: Iraq War ~ I was sick to my stomach – because I realized that SHE had drank the kool-aid & was afraid of Bush & the other Neocons. Afraid to stand against our own American domestic bully.
I’m trying the blockquote thingy.. don’t know if it will work!
Bruce said:
Bruce, thank you very much for stating that fact!…
As far as Debra Dickerson is concerned, when I first heard the interview, I was starting to get miffed because I thought she was coming across as being so condescending, but after the interview started moving along, and after I listened to it again, I had second thoughts. She is a very insightful and intelligent woman who I think was genuinely surprised at Don Imus’ depth and his ability to challenge her own thoughts. She challenged his also and that is what it is all about. Don Imus, because of a bad mistake and a kick in the gut that would have destroyed a weaker person, is turning his ordeal into a magnificent positive discussion on blacks and whites in America. I know he will continue to stir the pot, sometimes bring the contents to boil, other times, cool it down, but however he serves it up, we all get a taste and the opportunity to share it with others, and I for one am looking forward to more!
I didn’t really respond positively to Debra Dickerson at first, but I’ve changed my mind, glad I got to “meet” her and look forward to “visiting” with her again.
Indeed, Bush’s intelligence IS faulty…and extremely lacking. Regarding the SLIME attacking an honorable Senator, Barak Obama…
Go to this link, at “urban legends” provided below…and you will find…SURPRISE!…It surprises ME, in this day in age of easy information (CORRECT information) that gullible and lazy people would not check out the TRUTH…before slandering an honorable man.
Here is the link…and now educate yourselves…
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_barack_obama_muslim.htm
I DO get riled by ignorance…and vicious lies attacking an honorable man.
Here, from of ALL people…Media Matters, is a story covering the issue of “Obama refusing to place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem”…including pictures disputing the nonsense.
http://mediamatters.org/items/200710240006?f=h_latest
If you read the last link to Media Matters…(From a Colmes and Hannity piece), maybe people might see where this vicious slime attack is being perpetuated…and by whom.
stdomsgirl, re: stop & leave, I don’t think you really understand what we are doing in Iraq. It is not a “War on Iraq”. We are fighting alongside freedom-loving Iraqis who do not want us to leave. We can’t abandon them to the extremists. We need to stabilize the democratically-elected government there, or Iran will grow stronger.
Everyone always says how Iran is the beneficiary of this war. BS. Only if we leave. They are in a FAR weaker position now, with no Saddam Hussein running smokescreen for them.
Bruce…you brought up the Vietnam war…and how many died…
I provided you the Wickpedia link on an earlier thread showing THAT war was based on a lie… shall I re-post it? (The Gulf of Tonkin Incident).
To anyone else that truly thinks and cares…
If you put the brave and honorable men and women of our country’s military into harms way under the false pretense that OUR COUNTY IS IN IMMINENT DANGER…and IT IS NOT…THAT IS TREASON.
Some people say WE owe it to the Iraqi people to help them (after WE went in and destabilized the entire region)…THEY ARE NOT HELPING THEMSELVES!
Is MORE American blood worth this insanity?…
NO.
You listen to Imus…what does he say?
Cheney= war criminal.
In MY book, so is George W. Bush…
…and so is Donald Rumsfeld…for sending our valiant soldiers into harms way, ill prepared, ill equipped…and done on the cheap…
while Halliburton reaps their glorious profits.
It’s one thing to be a proud and patriotic American.
It is another hard put responsibility NOT to be a gullible, ill informed, ignorant American that can’t REASON for their own self, THINK for their own self or EDUCATE their own self and then: become OUTRAGED!!!!!
ENOUGH of this INSANITY!
Well said, DonaldInks!
imustimes…with all due respect…
After all our brave soldiers have done for the Iraqi people…and they (the Iraqi people and Government) cannot, to this date, get their act together, work together, and rule together, we should get out. Period. And put Iran on notice. Period.
Hell, we have Turkey already crossing into Iraq and running bombing missions there now.
With all due respect for opposing viewpoints, think of the bloodbath that will occur in Iraq if the US pulls out, particularly targeted will be those who have been reluctantly gaining some degree of confidence that we won’t abandon them. Some expect more of the Iraqi government than our own government. With all the pettiness that goes on in the United States, I don’t see us working together too well. Our political system has been reduced to voting based on how someone laughs, whether or not they cry or tears well up in their eyes, what the meaning of is is, do they wear a lapel pin, or cover their heart when they hear the Star Spangled Banner.
Bush & Neocons etal have alreay created a ‘bloodbath’ in Iraq.
“If you put the brave and honorable men and women of our country’s military into harms way under the false pretense that OUR COUNTY IS IN IMMINENT DANGER…and IT IS NOT…THAT IS TREASON.”
That quote from Donald’s post is the main issue. That little inconvenient truth has to be addressed first …I think, anyway.
Debra was surprised for Imus handle himself the way he did – to her dismay because she couldn’t stay resentful …and she wanted to. The Professor learned something new: a person who honestly works a program, as Imus clearly does, has no other option… facing mistakes and making amends is the “gospel of the 12 Steps.” I would have been surprised only if he had not.
I second “ImusTimes” sentiments on this controversial subject regarding the war in Iraq.
My only observation is we are here to celebrate Black History Month.
Not the cause of the Iraq war. Teach those that are ignorant about the real truth. But some will not believe we ever belonged there.
Good Luck to those that feel this way. My feelings are different.
I respectively disagree with those that want to discuss it with little facts to back their premise up.
Keith,
Would you please give Frec my email.
Thanks Ree
No Donald,
The War in Vietnam was based on many things. The United States of America has one fault. It can be considered Good and Bad. We fight for other Countries when the war of our lives lies here.
That is why we are the “Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free”.
But being the Worlds police force is not very beneficial in this day and age. And even back in the 60’s when the Vietnam War was escalated by President Johnson.
I have no argument with you Donald or for that matter with anyone about our failures in controlling our own Country first before putting band-aids on other Countries.
If we believe in the Conspiracy theories of the Bay of Pigs, The Gulf of Tonkin, and every thing we have been involved with militarily we are doomed as a Country.
But since 2001 we have been in a war with the unknown enemy. Is it the 1.1 Million Muslim Radicals that are truly attacking us? Or is it the the lies perpetrated on this Country by people in power?
Personally I believed at one time that the whole 9/11 mess was concocted by the U.S. Government. How could this have been pulled off so easily and fooled so many?
I am tired of discussing this. My facts are based on my gut. And right now my gut says. Lets change the subject and get a new Thread going.
We should all be discussing Black History and the Imus story. And of course the political arena that is probably the most interesting in my recent memory. And I have lived since 1949 when Israel was named a Sovereign Country.
My fingers hurt and so does my head thinking about all of this.
There was a comment made by Debra, that did get my attention, she relayed the conversation between her and a white friend, this is re her feeling maybe she is too much of a polyanna. Debra remarked to her white friend that she thought things were getting better, and her white friend said you should hear what white people say, when black people are not around…and Debra said, something to the effect the same is true of black people. Now that is a generalization and both of those women can only speak of the circles they travel in. Not once was Character brought up. You know some people live up to their morals and vaules, and others just give lip service, that speaks to “Character” I do think it counts. I wish Debra had addressed this human trait in all people, there are people of Character among all ethnicities.
Like my father in law told me, when we were having a conversation about people, he said in general people are mainly good. You just don’t ever hear about them because they are busy living their lives and taking care of their familys and mostly they just want to live in peace and be left alone to live their lives. We don’t think about them, we discuss the difficult people, they are the ones that get all the attention. I think that should have been brought up in the conversation Imus and Debra were having.
Hussein was a distabilizing force in the Mideast. He was a threat to the entire region…
Let’s not forget the 1 million casualties from Hussein’s Iran-Iraq war.
Source Wikipedia
Nor should we forget that Hussein was firing on US forces peacefully patrolling the UN No Fly zone.
Saddam Hussein was a bad person who in the end deserved his fate..
Someone noted how bad the Iraqi’s have it today. Think back to what it was…
Source The War Crimes of Saddam Hussein, Tom Head
Saddam Hussein was a bad person who deserved his fate…
The surge “IS WORKING”. Do not listen to the Dem’s who say General Petraeous is General Betrayus. A line HRC used in her quote to a very brave Commander in the field.
She in affect called him a LIAR. She is Nuts!
Things are getting better. But if we leave they will go down hill faster then a driver in Texas on ice. MY LINE.
How do you question a decorated General in the field if you have never been in combat yourself. It is all about the Democrats hating Bush. With no regard for the Men and Women on the ground giving their lives for the Iraqi people and for the freedom from tyranny in the region. Not to mention our security here in the States and abroad.
I hate to mention Hillary in this post. But she is the most despicable Person in the Senate, along with Harry Reid.
My Final Thought for Sunday.
I am writing this piece regarding the current election cycle.
In the Right Corner we have John McCain. War Hero, Republican, Semi-Conservative, not the greatest speaker in motivating the American People.
In the left corner we have Two. Yes two Democrats that stand for change. Question Mark.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York.
Wife of former President William Jefferson Clinton. President of the U.S. 1993-2001
First female with any chance of a Democratic nomination for President of the United States in 2008
Tolerant to her husbands wandering ways with other females. Called Cheating on her in layman’s terms.
Willing to give every American free health care but with a cost to those that already have it. Taxes.
Voted for the resolution to allow force against Iraq.
Called General Petrakos a liar at Senate Hearings on the Surge.
35 years experience in doing something. But never fully explained
New York Senator for 7 years. No accomplishments in that department.
If President would bring our troops home within 60 days of being sworn in as President. 1 Brigade a month.
Attracts older voters in the primaries and caucuses and panders to the Latino and African/American Voters.
Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillary_Clinton
Senator Barrack Hussein Osama, Illinois
First African American with a chance to become the nominee for Democratic President of the United States in 2008
Willing to provide free health care or supplement those that have it if he becomes President of the United States.
.Voted against the resolution to allow force against Iraq.
20 years of experience including a 1996 election for State legislature in Illinois.
Elected in 2004 as a U.S. Senator of the State of Illinois.
Desires to bring our troops home from Iraq in an orderly fashion beginning 90 days after becoming President of the U.S.
Attracts younger voters that are educated. Especially women.

Now you be the Judge. Who has the qualifications to be the most important leader in the FREE WORLD?
Two very important spelling errors.
1. General David Howell Petraeus
2. Barack Hussein Obama
An Imus Favorite Craig Crawford is Waffling
http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/trailmix/2008/02/bring-back-the-boring-barack.html
My comment to him
The Media Matters garbage regarding Barack Obama on placing his hand on his heart during The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.
Now you know they are working for Hillary Rotten Clinton.
In speaking with Craig Crawford this morning, Imus says he wouldn’t rule out the return of the Cardinal (!) but with changes in some of the material which Imus never liked anyway. Craig’s dad suggested a “UPS hat.” 🙂 No comment by Bernie…(dead silence, in fact).
More brilliant analysis from Frank Rich in yesterday’s NY Times. Excerpts below.
“This is the candidate who keeps telling us she’s so competent that she’ll be ready to govern from Day 1. Mrs. Clinton may be right that Mr. Obama has a thin résumé, but her disheveled campaign keeps reminding us that the biggest item on her thicker résumé is the health care task force that was as botched as her presidential bid.”
“I’m starting to wonder. An operation that has waged political war as incompetently as the Bush administration waged war in Iraq is unlikely to suddenly become smart enough to pull off that duplicitous a “victory.” Besides, after spending $1,200 on Dunkin’ Donuts in January alone, this campaign simply may not have the cash on hand to mount a surge. ”
Re: Saddam {in his sandbox called Iraq} – all we had to do was to call in our best Marine Sniper – sight him in & shoot him in the head. Dead. Period. We didn’t need to destroy the museums & libraries & the lives {est. 100,000} & homes of ordinary Iraqi people and lose 4,000 + American military. Naw. No money in that. Cheney said to Bush = the military-industrial complex that Ike warned against. Destroy the city then bring Halliburton in to manage it all mess kits, tanks supplies. No bid contracts to Bushies. Jaysus! Legacy? What a laugh. As the Worst of the Worse? 🙂 Jaysus, Mary & Joseph.
Re: the Cardinal aka Bernie I say he went much to far in his foul language in the last few months of his appearances. Still he was amusing albeit even as went over the line. I think Imus also cringed a time or two at what Bernie was saying over the air. At times I would shake my head as my shoulders shook with laughter. ‘Street Cred’ ~ Irish Catholic ‘long in the tooth’ girl – Nana Monahan {grgrandmother McGurk} from Donegal to Portland Maine. Bring the Cardinal back. I miss the sound of the Irish brough & the wit ~ sometime dark humor of the Gorham’s Corner Irish Longshoremen of St. Dominic’s Parish. Bernie’s Cardinal was so true ~ I’ll bet that those who heard him on the radio ~ in his Cardinal persona & knew the Irish Wit & Culture would say ‘Right on Bernie!’. Bernie needs to return with cleaner words. Bernie has wit in spades, but as the late Jewish Henny Youngman said ‘ Ya don’t have to talk dirty to be funny! – 2 Henny jokes ~ ” I use to take my kids everywhere ~ but they always found their way home!’ Ba dum! & ” Take my wife ~ Please!’ Ba dumdum.
Sniper Response: a) There is no indication that anyone would get close enough to Saddam for the shot. (US couldn’t land a cruise missile on Saddam, much less get a sniper on him. b) In the event one could get close enough for a shot, what would have followed Saddam? Probably more civil unrest, genocide, famine, war and general mayhem.
For the record I would not have chosen an Iraq invasion as an option. Bush choose the Iraq invasion supported by the Congress (Democrats and Republicans).
Saddam Hussein was an evil person who got what was coming to him.
Maybe a shamrock seed has been planted for the return of the cleaned-up Cardinal on St. Paddy’s Day in Boston…:) ??
Thank God for Pat Buchanan – single-handedly rescued an otherwise unlistenable show this morning. If I hear that Hillary clip one more time, I’m “heading for the truck.”
Frec,
Lord Hear Our Prayer…and for the record you sissies – I know your reading, I never flinched when Bernie did Cardinal Egan or when Lenny does Cardnial Egan..oh yeah, I’m a good catholic of course I felt guilty about it GRIN.
Frec, heading for the truck’s tail pipe? I do see why it caught Imus’s attention. So Hillary Clinton shows her true colors and it is your mother Barrack Obama, and you should be ashamed of yourself. Oh Barry O’Bama wait till your father gets home…oops!
New Thread, Senator Chris Dodd to the rescue…
