A Different Tune for Imus
JACQUES STEINBERG; Compiled by JULIE BOSMAN
In the latest chapter of his comeback following the racially and sexually charged exchange that got him fired by CBS Radio and MSNBC last year, Don Imus, is taking on the role of impresario. On Sept. 16 New West Records plans to release “The Imus Ranch Record,” in which 13 artists selected by Mr. Imus — including Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakum and Patty Loveless — perform cover versions of songs chosen by Mr. Imus. Ms. Loveless, for example, sings “Silver Springs,” a Stevie Nicks song. Lucinda Williams sings “Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” which was made famous by Waylon Jennings. Big & Rich, however improbably, put their best spin on the Beastie Boys’ “You’ve Got to Fight for Your Right to Party.” Mr. Imus intends for the CD to benefit the Imus Ranch, which he and his wife, Deirdre, operate in New Mexico for the benefit of children with cancer and other diseases.

I have to start shopping for back to school, I am going to pick up his CD while I am out.
Crawford this morning talked about the cost of the conventions falling to the taxpayer citing the funding source through a supplementary military funding bill.
Thinking out loud:
Why is a convention “taxpayer funded” when the campaign rejects public financing?
Shouldn’t a campaign which rejects public financing pick up 100% of its campaign costs?
Ree,
While your out getting back to school CDs check out Barenaked Ladies “Snacktime.” It’s a really fun CD from great band.

I tuned into “Imus in Alabama” this morning at 690 AM on my Bose. That has to be a first – good luck in Birmingham to the entire I-Team.
Thanxs PT,
Did you all hear Imus tell Neil Cavuto, he could call him, from the Denver Democrat Convention. Cavuto just got a “get” I watch Fox anyway so I probably will be tuned in.
I wish they would send Tony and Karith to the Dem convention, have them roaming around. Paul Harvey reporting in bitches LOL!
PT – Barenaked ladies an all time favorite. Once saw em live at corporate event. These guys are a marketing machine, mixing marketing messages with their music.
This BNL reminds me of our Imus group!!!

Ree,
Imus was initially cautious in his response to Neil but he did take him up on it. Lets see if he goes through with the appearance.
Imus has been very close to FOX throughout. Prior to his interview with Alexis Glick Imus revealed that there had been discussions regarding Imus and FBN. RFD is close to a year into the Imus agreement they have signed with carriers Comcast and most recently Verizon. Timing could be right for a FOX acquisition of RFD to establish the FOX AG Channel. Or maybe RFD is simply tired of paying Imus for a program they cannot sell to advertisers and would come to terms with FOX for a simulcast of the program.
At any rate, Imus is close to FOX and seems like there is something going on behind the scenes.
Channelxrfr
That is what I was thinking, Imus is natural fit for FBN or Fox News. RFD TV is going to have to be flexible if this comes to pass. I mean the creative decision making, there is no reason not to trust Imus and Bernie, they know what they are doing. They know what works. To me RFD TV bought themselves this fancy vehicle, then they parked it in the garage and put a tarp over it 🙂 It is better if you take it out on the highway and open it up. The Democrat’s Convention, would be a great place to turn them loose.
That video above “who needs sleep”does fit me. I now have the headset because I use Skype to talk to my husband. They have bandwidth issues, where he is so we have to schedule off hours to talk. We take so much for granted in a first world country. I sent him the first care package back June 30th he just got it this weekend. They have cell phones and the technology is pretty up to date in Liberia. It is low tech that is suffering, My husband has told me, he has had something they call Chicken and Hamburgers but he says, I have only seen one chicken and no cows! Liberia could use some RFD TV.
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/
Seems like RFD needs to step it up. Patrick had talked about launching a rural news broadcast based in Chicago and DC. Problem is it would take about $10M just to launch and without ad revenue IITM is taking all the air out of the room.
Third world technology is a problem. For a lot of 3rd world countries “Telecom Tariffs” make up a significant part of their revenues. For the most part the calls are incoming so the currency flows into the country ( seemingly taxing foreigners). It would be somewhat interesting to figure out where the skype bottleneck is (local network, long haul, gateway or international).

Just saw this over at Imus Truth.

That’s the beststuff Ree,
How about the Imus Ranch Record available in the UK? Imus Ranch fundraising goes global!
I have a simple question that no one has answered at our Sister Site.
How does Imus make money on a discounted CD sale at Amazon?
There must be a deal but do not know how that works.
Thanks for the cover Channel.
The Imus Ranch through New West receives a fixed amount per album/track sold from distributors. The distributors sell at a wholesale price, with volume discounts to retailers. The retailers set the retail price based on their costs.
“I have a simple question that no one has answered at our Sister Site.
How does Imus make money on a discounted CD sale at Amazon?”
Volume and Royalties. It takes probably 39 cents to mass produce each C.D. (or less), and depending on plastic or paper C.D. cover: more…or less goes into production cost.
Depending on the royalty rights in the clause to sell and distribute the C.D. through West Bend…then you move to volume…volume is the key. If it doesn’t sell, Imus Ranch makes diddly squat…
…unless, of course, everyone involved in the manufacturing and distribution of the product has waived any costs associated with the project…which I highly doubt.
Nice marketing scheme, but as a cash cow…it ain’t gonna happen.
“New West” ….sorry, LOL …
“West Bend” records isn’t even in business anymore…I don’t believe.
By the way Chanx:
Happy belated Birthday to you…sorry I missed it…
…I hope it was done in “A Grand Fashion” with no remorse….
🙂
Good points Donald. This isn’t like the Imus Ranch Special on DVD where RFD donated 100K copies to the Imus Ranch! BTW you can still order the Imus Ranch Special on DVD at http://www.imusranchfoods.com.
Donald, Everything was going along OK untill the triple shot of grappa at the end of the meal. Minimum damage though and a good time was had by all. ThanX
Your opinion is noted Donald. But for me it is a good album.
Cash Cow… NO.
But every dollar in the pot adds up. Guess you didn’t figure that into your idea.
All it needs is some play time on radio/satellite and the Ranch Record will be fine. Maybe Imus has to go visit some DJs. You know, do it old school.
On second thought, someone grab the I-Man’s keys!
Bruce:
Never said it WASN’T a good album. I think it is, personally. I hope it will be available on ITunes also for downloads.
You asked a question, and I answered your question the best way I could to explain it for you.
…just don’t look for it on the Top Billboard 100 anytime soon.
Just keepin’ it real. 😉
Best bet for the Iman…especially with the drivel that IS played on radio these days…
…get it up on ITunes.
There are some radio friendly cuts that can go full blast on country flavored stations. That being said, it would be a huge feather in the IMans cap for this C.D. to hit it real big….
…but I don’t see it happening. Again, just trying to keep things real here. 😉
donaldinks
That is where RollingStone could come in handy, have Matt Taibbi or someone else, review the CD. Raise the CD’s visibility.
Exactly Ree!
A good Rolling Stone review will give it visibility for those that don’t even listen to Imus. I believe Matt Taibbi will be on this week, tomorrow if I’m not mistaken.
Would give it a great boost….on the other hand…Rolling Stone could also trash it. It’s a gamble, at best.
The more I think about it…ITunes is the best bet for this venue, as opposed to the “hard copy”. Imus plugs most artists and songs on Itunes (and books by the way of Amazon.com).
Exposure and “preview” of songs works well. Imus does have connections in the media industry, and I hope for the best on this “latest” endeavor to help sustain and help the ranch.
By the way, the “new” downloads for mp3 at Amazon work amazingly well. They automatically will put them into your ITunes library, and you can convert them to whatever format you like.
Yes… Matt Taibbi will be on tomorrow’s Imus. And maybe the question will be posed about the CD.
Whatever happens will be still good for the CD. It is a fine collection.
Trying to get the new album for Jamey Johhson from a friend in the Netherlands. My friends will get the preview right here.

Channelxrfr, You think someone would be out in front of this military excess luggage $$$. Those are usually the enlisted that get hit and they don’t have alot of extra $$.
My husband got reimbursed but he had to pay extra. I told him, I would rather he paid and have extra because of where he was going, there is no wall greens on the corner.
There may be more frolicking than fire-storming in Denver…

Ree, Your so right it’s not the senior guys who are impacted. The younger guys who can not afford to front the airlines get hit $$$ right at the gate. Its not just the little extras either, spec warfare troops carry up to 3X the equipment.
BTW: Little bro coming home was caught up in an 8 hour delay. One more reason I’m sensitive to how the US airlines are treating our troops.
Frec, Imus may have hit it head on. Although he may not be able to view the cacophony from the mesa, it will be clear from that Pansonic plasma….

PT, Something didn’t feel right about the USA Today article. So I went and looked up the GAO Study Click Here
There is a little sleight of hand by Sen. Byron Dorgan. The GAO study lumps insurance companies with real estate and business partnerships into one huge basket. The “Corporations” which are included in this study are entities which are generally established under the tax code where the individual owners of the company are taxed directly.
Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a tax designation for a corporation investing in real estate that reduces or eliminates corporate income taxes.
Regulated Investment Company (RIC) A mutual fund or real estate investment trust that is eligible to pass the taxes on capital gains, dividends, or interest payments onto the clients or individual investors.
Property and Casualty Insurance Companies (PC) Property insurance provides protection against risks to property, such as fire, theft or weather damage. Casualty insurance insures against accidents, not necessarily tied to any specific property.
Life Insurance Companies (L) Life insurance provides a monetary benefit to a decedent’s family or other designated beneficiary.
S Corporations do not pay any income taxes. Instead, the corporation’s income or losses are divided among and passed through to its shareholders. The shareholders must then report the income or loss on their own individual income tax returns.
This is bold face attempt by Sen. Dorgan to mislead by saying there are no tax liabilities to the company when clearly the shareholders are liable for the taxes.
PT,
Let’s face it it he ain’t bringing the potato salad to the Mensa picnic.
That is a good one!
Meanwhile Denver is attracting a bad element, check out the embedded links in this article. They have some weird stuff going on in Denver. I imagine security is going to be extra high, before, during, and after the convention.

OK, Be truthful now. Other than me, was anyone’s first reaction when they heard of the shooting “I wonder what he knew?” (or other variations on the possibility of him having been “Vince fostered”) or am I just that damn cynical?
Honestly, you caught me…
PT,
I thought it was political but now it sounds a whole lot more personal. He went through different people and lied about volunteering to get to the vicinity he was in.
The Denver thing is going to be a circus. The Code Pinkers planning on protesting their own party’s convention. Well there will be cameras. I am sure that is the attraction people want to behave badly and want to see themselves on the news. “Performance Art” something to put in the family album?

Is anyone else hearing rumors that Colin Powell is a bout to endorse Obama?
Thgat’s ig. That’s real big. That cuts right to the quick of McCain’s argument.
From early on I have expected Colin Powell to back Obama. Polling numbers indicate 95% of Blacks are supporting Obama for President. (By way of explanation this overwhelming support for Obama is racial not racist.)
There are a number of people who argue that Colin Powell is being disloyal. However, I don’t view a Colin Powell endorsement as being disloyal. For Blacks in America Obama’s candidacy is a historic moment much as Alfred E. Smith’s candidacy in 1928 was for Catholics in America.
Imus having a WABC / Citadel Love Fest. Loving his Program Director, Phil Boyce? People at WABC / Citadel are great? More successful then he has ever been? More affiliates then he had at WFAN? “Something is weird here” according to Lou Ruffino.
Oh yeah he still likes Mark Chernoff but Phil Boyce is his new love!
Hey, Remember when John Edwards condemned Imus?
America is a great country, someone as morally bankrupt as John Edwards, can get elected a U.S. Senator ,and run for the highest office in the land.
I still say, over on “IT” Edwards sabotaged himself, Elizabeth Edwards wanted a Status -First Lady, and he knew he wasn’t going to be able to deliver. That, and I really think he has mommy issues. That is where little boys learn about bonding first with their mommys, it doesn’t look like he can form ah ” healthy bonds” I don’t think his choice of career – a lawyer, helped either.

This is a train wreck waiting to happen baby, ad Tony ill be sitting in the club car.
Do they even know what that song is about (not that there’s any thing wrong with that)?
PT,
Where is the article, Imus was referring to, the one written from someone in New Jersey. Time to let Imus turn the page. I was looking for it but can’t find it.
This is article is along the lines of what, I was thinking of about Elizabeth Edwards. I am of the Camile Paglia school of feminism, where you admit as a woman, you have a lot of power, based on your own gender 🙂 If I was looking out of Elizabeth Edwards’ eyes, My first priority, knowing I am leaving my children behind with their father. I would want to leave him in a strongest position as I possibly could, for their own well being. (Stand by Her Man or Stand by the father of her children) I know that is difficult for some to wrap their heads around. I am saying that Elizabeth Edwards is slashing and burning through whatever she has to. Projecting out to the time, she won’t be around to protect her children’s future anymore. She isn’t a victim, she is a mother.
John Edwards needs time with a professional, and not the kind he has to divert funds to 🙂
http://www.slate.com/id/2197234/?from=rss#excruciatinganguish
I’m getting nothing Ree. Do you know the name of the writer or the paper?
BTW I love the Dolpahnos. If Tony puts out a Dolphanos T-shirt or Coffee mug I’d get it.
PT,
Imus said something about an African American man writing in New Jersey Donalds or Donaldson? Time to let Imus turn the page. I have it on DVR I will take another look 🙂
I am so glad that IITM is going to be back on the air during the Democrat Convention. I just wish they could send someone to represent them specifically. I would love for Karith and Tony to roam around and interview Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Hillary Clinton ect..
This is from the link, the slate above comment. People, in this case people in the MSM, should really not underestimate women. In this case Elizabeth Edwards, who is no dummy, although she may well love silky pony, he obviously has corral issues. BELOW vvvvvv
Let me raise the alternative, third possibility contained in B(ii): there is a Second Coverup and Elizabeth Edwards, rather than being its victim, is in on it up to her eyeballs! Why do I think this is a real possibility? First, Elizabeth was in on the first coverup, allowing her husband to go out and deny the initial Enquirer reports of his affair. (He admits to Woodruff that she knew these denials were false,) Second, she might see her legacy as bound up with her husband’s–and also want her children to have a father with a political future.** Third, Elizabeth Edwards is famously smart, and a lawyer. Does still she really think the Enquirer is just making up the part about how Edwards’ affair with Hunter restarted around the time Hunter got pregnant?
She can’t possibly be as dumb as People thinks its readers are. …
**–I deny the Second Coverup would be designed to avoid having her children’s father humiliated. If he’d actually came clean, in this scenario, it would more decisively kill his political career but arguably be less humiliating than being caught out in a second set of lies, which is what will probably happen now. Rather, the Second Coverup risked this extra double-humiliation for the sake of political survival (i.e., being able to later say “all I did was have a brief affair”). … 2:39 A.M. link

“Who better than to help us celebrate the YMCA’s 150th anniversary then the folks who wrote the song?” asked Greg Zupkus, chairman of the YMCA board of directors. “We wanted to have a family friendly, fun and funky night on the town to celebrate the Y, and really, downtown Waterbury in general.”

PT,
I was posting this on IT, this is what is going on with CBS Radio.
http://chickaboomer.blogspot.com/2008/08/see-bs.html
And PT,
CBS radio with Moonves at the helm is a mess. Imus is fine on WABC no matter what anyone says about him being too politically correct.
I stand my ground on this one.
“In Other News”…. Imus Truth has really gone to the Dogs. It is now an open site for anyone with or without a typepad or typekey ID to post crazy things.
My hope is the Site Manager over there clears this up very soon, or it will become a wasteland.
Can’t wait and see if Imus discusses this later. “Mike and the Mad Dog” that is!
Bruce: I still cant get on It – will ya tell me what they are posting? It must be fun/maddening to read them!
I just heard the great news: Mark Simone and Warner will sub for Imus. I am still laughing over the comment Imus made that Mark and Warner can spend an hour or so talking to the fellow from the Olympics.
I think Mark and Warner are such a great team as a sub for Imus. I suppose we will get 3 days with them and then Bernie, who is, of course, great will come on and finish out the week . Before I know it Imus will be back and summer will be over. I wonder if anyone will play the song from the 60’s with the line “I don’t want to say goodbye for the summer.”
Anxious to get the Imus CD.
Rare day, I have time to not just read your site but comment too.
I wish Imus would have Fred Imus on more often. He is a riot -the interaction of the 2 brothers is so funny. I remember Fred being on a lot more in the past and I loved it. I suppose it was Lou that finished the spot with the Righteous Brothers’ song -so perfect.
Stdomsgirl,
Would love to accomodate you on this. But find it not very productive to repeat the words here.
And for the life of me I still cannot understand why you cannot log on the site, or even read it.
Guess Channel can’t help you either. You can try FireFox or another browser. It has to be a security setting or something that just popped up.
Now: As far as Mark Simone and Warner next week. Know I once said I truly was getting tired of Mark Simone. Warner is fine, but together it’s a gab fest. In small doses Simone is great. But for 4 hours without Lou running the board, it’s pretty boring.
With a little luck Bernie will take over on Thursday and Friday. But until I know that, will not be recording any of next week.
stdomsgirl
I am using this browser. It is free if you use it to view or listen you have to download what are called add ons like a media player of your choice and flash player ect. I like it better then IE7.

stdomsgirl,
Could be any number of things. The fact that you can’t get to Imus Truth sounds like it is a setting in the router or firewall where ImusTruth has been blocked. Could someone be playing a prank on you?
Wish I could be of more help.
jeanlists,
Not looking forward to an Imus-less week. Will listen in on Mark and Warner and hopefully Bernie at the end of the week.
ChannelXRFR
I think Bernie should be on all week in fact rotate Rob, Karith, Tony, into the mix to all during the week. Warner is holding up the regular’s end but why not give Mark and Warner folks to play off of?
Two hot topics Olympics and The Democrat Convention. Oh And Georgia is on everyone’s mind.
I agree Ree,
That’s why Imus and the Gang have fun. And it works, only because of that reason.
Now: Stdomsgirl
Do you have a router? And Channel you can say something about this too.
The builder of my system said that all I needed was a NAT router and Windows XP’s firewall. A NAT router is basically a way of fending off attacks since you are basically invisible. Adding a software firewall is just extra baggage on the resources of your system.
If STDOMSGIRL is not behind a NAT router, or any Router then it’s a setting in her browser or she is infected with some strange virus or trojan. What puzzles me is that Imus Truth is the only site she cannot visit.
Cannot understand that at all without actually looking in her system. And I am not even qualified for that.
Also to Ree.
Please explain to anyone who will listen at Imus Truth that I am not the No Names or one of the crazy people that use cute sign in’s over there.

All: Thanks for trying to help me – you’re all LOVEYS! 🙂
stdomsgirl,
Does your public library have computers? Mine does, maybe you can try to log on there:)
goiman: Thanks for the tip. 🙂
Your welcome!
Stdomsgirl,
I asked you a question about your setup and you didn’t answer.
Without knowing your set up I cannot help you properly. I have a friend in the Netherlands that can give some ideas, but the key is the question I asked you. And Ree also made a remark about your Browser.
You know my email address and can contact me directly if you wish.
goiman has a good idea. Or you can see if a friend has a system near you and you log on from there. You do not have to log in. Just view the site.
Bruce dear heart: I really don’t know about my setup – or anthing else about my PC – am really very computer illiterate! It’s like I can do rudimentary things – email & such – but thats all – It’s like I can put a key into the ignition of my car & drive it – but am clueless about the engine! Am pretty much housebound so I don’t often get to my library. I really appreciate all of you, that try to help me. Thank-you, my fellow I-Fans. 🙂
I just asked if your system is connected directly to the internet, or you are using a Router.
Assuming you are on a DSL line or a Cable connection, you will have a separate Modem. A wire in and a wire out. Now, if this wire is connected to something else before your computer, you have a router.
If you don’t you are hooked directly to the cable or DSL line.
You know my email. Please write me when you get a chance.
Thanks Stdomsgirl.

I’m voting Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe three or four pointy headed elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don’t have to hide from us over there, when they come over here I don’t want to have any guns in the house to fight them off with.
I’m voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my horse.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.
Bruce,
That really is well thought out. I don’t know if I would hang it all on the Democrats, elements in both parties, have extreme agendas but the majority of Americans live somewhere in the middle.
When I think of the reasons, I was a Democrat, and voted for Bill Clinton the first time:) It was homeless folks. Ronald Reagan had made his statement, that no one was homeless in America that didn’t want to be. George Bush 41 and his thousand points of lights. I remember Bill Clinton, mentioning the homeless during his first campaign, and that is what I was listening for. I have always felt as a Super Power, and a First World Country ,we should have a safety net for the most vulnerable citizens. People always use homeless to describe American Citizens living out of doors:) I was reading that Denver is going to be handing out Movie tickets to move them off the street, while the Convention is going on. Isn’t that special…how many years after Bill Clinton’s campaign speeches on homeless, and the Democrats are arranging to keep them out of sight so WHO doesn’t see them?
I remember Bill Clinton’s first priority, when he took office he got “don’t ask, don’t tell” passed. And I was thinking “IF” he had at least addresses homeless gay people, who were discriminated against because of the aids epidemic. Well I wasn’t the first woman that fell for something, Bill Clinton was promising (How big is that crowd)
LOL!
addressed not addresses, spell check works , Firefox needs to put in a line editor 🙂
Ree,
That was sent to me. I didn’t create it. And believe it or not the person that sent it is a supporter of Obama.
Just thought it was funny. But appreciate your accolades, undeserved though.
Have a Great Weekend. Tomorrow is another day.
Colonel Jack Jacobs appearing on Imus this week made a great point comparing the Russia and Chinese insanity and the US. “Being insane has never precluded success, being pusillanimous will. And that is what we’ve been for a long time, pusillanimous.
pusillanimous: lacking courage and resolution : marked by contemptible timidity.
ChanX Challenge drop “pusillanimous” into a conversation!
stdomsgirl
I’m so sorry, I had no idea of your situation otherwise I would never have mentioned the library. I really wish I could help you!!
I’ll tell you this though, your not missing that much. While the discussions can get interesting, there is a nasty troll problem who is trying to ruin it for everyone else. I believe it use to post here. Shame really, but thats the internet for you.
I hope Bruce can help you stdomsgirl. This computer stuff can get complicated. Maybe a neighbor can help?? Oh wait how about the Geek Squad!!!!??!!! Yes, call Best Buy and ask if they could send out the Geek Squad to help you!!!!!!!!
Yes they will be able to help you!!!!!!!!!!!
Let us know!!!!!!!
The conundrum of our times, mostly created by a pusillanimously-natured Congress of a less than “bipartisan bent” (at least they got the bi- and the bent part correct), is who to elect to extract this great but presently harried nation from the follies of an administration so laughably inept one yearns for the return of the Keystone Kops just to give us some semblance of sanity, order, and competence. But the picayune nature of the campaign debate, and yes, the ill-informed ramblings of a portion of the “electorate” causes one to have faint hope. George Carlin may have well been correct …it’s all down hill from here.
How’s that, Mr. X.
If Barack Hussein Obama and his pusillanimous cabinet are elected, this Country of ours will be doomed to fail. Due to
1. Higher taxes
2. Big Government
3. Less Defense Spending
4. Zero Leadership
5. Ineffectual ability to make a quick decision.
No to Obama and his pusillanimous cabinet of misfits.
Vote Join McCain in defeating this empty suit.
Like I said …”ill-informed ramblings…”
Hi Mike,
Are you speaking of me? Thought you were an ex-democrat?
How come its always the liberal who has to get nasty??
Not only that, depressing also. Everything is falling apart at the seams.
#99
You forgot to use the word “pusillanimous”.
I am looking forward to the Denver Democrat Convention.
http://chickaboomer.blogspot.com/2008/08/hillary-ballbuster.html
For everyone’s information. Here some stats on this very good site for Imus.
144,799 views since 01-09-08 7:05PM 081508
145,175 views since 01-09-08 5:56PM 081608
176 views yet only 12 posts by the crew? Who are these other persons?
Bruce,
They are 176 pusillanimous persons.
“176 views yet only 12 posts by the crew? Who are these other persons?”
“Who knows what evil lurkers these 176 pusillanimous persons be? The Shadow knows!”
I think I’m on a roll here.
I think you are too Mike,
They are either us checking in, or flamers that are too chicken to post on a real site.
Bruce
You forgot to use the word “pusillanimous”.
Bruce,
Doesn’t “too chicken” mean the same thing as “pusillanimous?” Now we know…
The challenge was to use “pusillanimous” …Mr. X said so! …”too chicken” is cheating”.
I think if we used the word once in a paragraph or description is really enough.
This is not the Bill O’Reilly show, or is it?
You mean the “pusillanimous Bill O’Reilly” …don’t you?
Malkin was live blogging Saddleback , that was some forum. Everyone is looking forward to Monday and Rush. I wish Imus was on Monday or at least add Bernie to Simone. McCain carried the night, he was on Fire. They had the pundits on after it was over and I was watching it on CNN and it looked like someone’s dog just died. Candy Crowely and that Dana chick, they looked like they didn’t want to hang around.
Obama Nuance vs McCain Straight Talk Express with a full tank of gas..I swear that is what the guy just said on CNN.
CNN not happy, they kind of put all their Cookies in the Obama Cookie Jar. I see why Obama doesn’t want to debate McCain.
If this was the “O’Reilly” the word would have been more pedestrian for example “truculent”. We are talking “Imus” the word is “pusillanimous”, Charles’ favorite made relevant through Colonel Jacobs artfull usage!
Damn cat is sick and a small rodent is loose in the house…
“pus ill an i mous”
😉
Red State Update, Thank You John Edwards. For being “pusillanimous” Or is that thank you John Edwards for being such a pussy? It’s a jump ball 🙂
I watched a report about this the guy who runs this political poll analysis website on CNN this afternoon (never heard of him before). Apparently he has an established track record that’s pretty good.
This may be of some interest to the “political junkies” amongst us. Particularly those of you who like to look at charts and crunch numbers (that would not be me).
Would that possibly be you, Mr. X?
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
mike08exdem,
Here are a whole bunch of polls for this Presidential Election, there are a lot of them.
http://www.presidentpolls2008.com/
Take a look at the fivethirtyeight.com site, Laree …
It’s much more than just a compilation of various polls and charts …if that’s all it was I wouldn’t give it a second look.
Check it out …you might find it interesting …but spend some time with it …there’s a lot there …and some of it is kind of fun (some of it’s not).
goiman: about the library trip tip ~ It’s a great idea. I use to visit the Portland Public Library about once a week, but alas & alack, haven’t been able to do so for at least a year now. I DO so appreciate your kind concern. {Bruce & other I-Fans as well.} I’m going to see how much it costs to have the Best Buy Computer Geeks come for a PC housecall. Wish me luck, hope it dont cost me an arm & a leg. 🙂
stdomsgirl,
I had to get rid of a trojan on my computer a malware add, nothing serious but it left a line in my registry, that my windows keeps telling me to do something about. I have tried to find the reference in my registry to no avail. But it doesn’t do anything anymore it was high jacking my browser. I don’t know what operating system you are using, I am using Vista now. You might need to get a spy ware killer installed.
I have a neighbor who is a computer wiz I am going to have him see about getting rid of the reference in my registry.
The reporting by CNN and NBC is deplorable. Cheating my a*s!
Simone’s interview with Cavett was awesome. Especially enjoyed Cavett’s comparative remuneration from blogging and the cost of paper in the bottom of the bird cage ‘blogging won’t pay for the bottom of the bird cage’.
Mark also mentioned later in the program the New York Times business problems, subscribers down, advertising revenue down etc. Use to be the NYT’s reporting was impeccable. Once NYT had a clear delineation between the news and editorial content. That line is eroded to the point where it has disappeared. At least 60% of any story is padded to slant the story and further editorialized. Why am I still a subscriber? It’s because the paper is home delivered in a blue bag that is perfect for walking the dog! Not quite the news print at the bottom of a bird cage perspective. Mrs. X points out it is less expensive to buy blue bags by the roll but somehow that doesn’t make the same point.
BTW: The Wall Street Journal drops off 2 to 3 papers a week as an enticement. Unfortunately, WSJ is delivered in a grey bag which is not suitable for dog walking.
I posted this on Imus Truth but I think it is a really good idea, New Media is the Future. I think Patrick ought to consider investing in the same web content.
If these networks really wanted ratings wouldn’t they be more fair in their coverage?
http://chickaboomer.blogspot.com/2008/08/new-media-v-old-media.html
I am getting news still from Cable News and more and more online. If Patrick was smart he would do what USA network does, and put up some Imus in the Morning online. New Media, train em young SMILE.
Posted by: Ree | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 09:40 AM
This is what I am referring to USA network is SMART. This is a slick site and you can watch the past episodes of the tv shows. They do this for a lot of their shows, this is Monk.
http://www.usanetwork.com/series/monk/video/fullep/
NEW MEDIA = Imus gets streamed online already at 77WABC, and they have put up podcast of the interviews. Here on this site- Imus Truth, they put up podcast of the days entire show. Why not put Imus in the Morning up, like USA does for Monk? People in Great Britain and France or Germany, Russia, Japan, could watch Imus in the Morning, whenever they want and USA network has ADVERTIZERS for the episodes you watch online.
New Media Is Global Media.
Posted by: Ree | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 09:49 AM
Ree,
Remember back when RFD first announced Imus? The Press Release included RFD HD (Later found out not available on DirecTV HD) and Imus On-Demand (Also not available on DirecTV )n-Demand). When asked where the Imus On Demand was? RFD said they couldn’t provide it since the Internet Carriers were blocking. It turns out the carriers weren’t blocking all content and since that time the FCC has addressed the issue with the carriers to the content providers benefit. Still no Imus On-Demand.
Patrick is a great. But come on, I want my ImusHD
Laree,
I had the very same problem with malware posing as virus-protection not long ago. My solution was to update my real spyware program and keep working until it finally purged all traces of it.
StDom’s,
I wanted to suggest the “Geek Squad” or the “Firedogs,” but those ideas have been put forward. Since you mentioned “expense” as a possible deterrent, here’s another thought: your local community college or technical school may have computer labs in which students need “guinea pigs” to experiment on…they might fix for free or just the cost of parts… maybe you can call the department for information on such a program?
stdomsgirl
GOOD LUCK!! I hope it works out for you and they don’t charge too much. Everything now a days can be so much, but you’ll never know til you try.
Frec has a good idea too. Maybe if the Geek Squad doesn’t work out that can be the next step. Before you know it you’ll be posting on that nutty site too:) (just kidding), there are some really nice people over there.
Frec
That is what I did, I got another spy ware killer, updated my old one, and the two of them, finally killed it:) but I have this message from my vista version if this- (then the line in the registry) is no longer available, change the registry. I use the reg edit to try and find it no luck so far. I am staying updated with the spy ware killers.
ChannelXRFR, Imus may be the one that has to push the issue with Patrick. I know Imus gets New Media, he is online and surfing on his computer. The above link to Monk episodes on the USA network, was an example of how slick and ease of use, you can make a web content website. Then put up extra stuff too, you know trivia and web logs, which I always thought was neat. Charles could be putting up short web logs, once a week easily, he writes all the crawl stuff. New Media in the words of Tom Friedman the world is flat. USA network has Advertisers this is also away to sell the show. This would take hiring someone who knows how to design and maintain the website I think it would raise their profile online and they could raise add dollars. The cost would be -website and webmaster, they have the shows in the can already.
Now I would change the show up too, I would add Bernie back in front of the camera. I remember that Imus used to have a big flat screen in front of him at MSNBC, he would be looking at Carlin and Bernie, split screen something like this or a little picture in picture for the web cast, with Bernie inserted.
Did you see Marty’s post on old media vs new media. 29% are getting their news online now, this is the future.
STDOMSGIRL:
Try this: Go to this link:
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html
This is AVG Anti-virus Free Edition.
It doesn’t take up much space on the hard drive, it’s easy to use and it”s FREE. You can set it up to automatically scan your system during anytime of the day you wish. I set mine up to automatically scan the system everyday at around 2 A.M.
It finds viruses, worms and Trojans.
Not only does it find them, it eliminates them.
Good Luck!
Pushy new media

Mike, Crunching numbers you read me right. My motto, “Facts Are Our Friends”. Problem I have with the national polls is they really don’t tell the story. The real story occurs on a district by district analysis. The excitement is trends in the critical districts not the nationwide polls. When watching commercials, listening to speeches, looking at press releases I always wonder what “they” see in the polls.
Thanks for the site, I’m checking it out.
And the trend is Channel is BHO is going to lose. It’s that simple.
You can vote for him, Donald Inks can vote for him. And it will not make a hill of beans.
Don’t want to sound too negative. But you know how stupid he sounded at that forum. He just can’t carry himself well.
Enough of this BS.
Please change this thread.
“You can vote for him, Donald Inks can vote for him.” …”Change this thread”, did I miss something?
I don’t know if you missed something ChanX… but somehow, I got the same feeling! LOL
…but don’t miss this:
George Carlin’s last performance “It’s Bad For Ya!”
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A1AA56C1F938B009
Something to enjoy while the Iman is off air. 🙂
Donaldinks: I installed the AVG thingy – but I still can’t get to IT {or Pogo.com} My comuter freezes up & I have to turn it off & restart. Geez! It’s the luck of the Irish – I got a computer ~ but I can’t go everywhere I want to go. :- (
stdomsgirl:
Open your AVG and run a complete scan (if you haven’t already) and see if that helps.
Good Luck!
…also, somewhere in cyberspace at WordPress is a link I posted to George Carlin’s last concert “It’s Bad For Ya”.
Hope it eventually comes up here. 😉
Stdomsgirl, When you are denied access to IT what is the URL in the address bar? (Looks like http:// “something” )
Channel: Not really denied access to IT {not quite} – even when I Google IT ~ my computer freezes up. It’s so odd ~ because once upon a time ~ I was one of the original posters over there. P.S. What’s a URL? Is it my e-mail address?
Jaysus! I’m beginning to sound like McC. ~ don’t know how to use a computer! Jaysus! Lol.
🙂 URL is the link or address to the site. If you look at the very top of your screen on the left hand side you will see something that looks like this..
Here’S Experiment #1: Type http://www.imustruth.typepad.com address then press Enter. What is the URL or link displayed in the address bar?
ChannelX,
Could it be a popup blocker? she might need to turn off this feature if she is using a google or yahoo tool bar.
ahhhh, good point ree. Im not a fan of those toolbars. The URL should give us a few clues in that direction..
Know how much stdoms misses IT, would really like to help her out.
stdomsgirl:
Did you run the entire computer scan with AVG? Send me an email…if you don’t have my email address anymore,
donaldinks@yahoo.com
As far as missing Imustimes, I must share your pain (tongue placed firmly in cheek).
It’s more fun than a Laural and Hardy movie…or The Marx Brothers.
Sometimes I read the comments for a good laugh…
😉
“As far as missing Imustimes…”
Lord help me…lol….ImusTruth.
Donald,
Thanks for the Carlin link. I venture to say if George we’re still here, he’d be adding Michael Phelps to his “effing list” of who-not-to-be-told-to-admire… no cow too sacred to be sacrificed on the altar of Carlin’s Comedy 🙂
frec:
Glad you enjoyed the Carlin Concert. There are many versions on YouTube, but this one was edited just perfect.
It was a great last performance. I personally will miss him. 😉
…and yes, Michael Phelps would absolutely have been in that routine! LOL
By the way, his brother (George Carlin’s) was really great on Imus last month. I couldn’t get over how much they sounded alike…and was one of my favorite interviews this year.
Channel,
Read your email. That is all I am going to say at this moment.
Our sister site is saying I was taken down here at Imus Times.
Far from the truth.
Channel: I did what you told me to do – I got further than usual – got to the site – then bada bing – froze up as usual! Jaysus! You kids, are right – the other site was VERY amusing – I did get a laugh out of it. Oh Well! To H*** with it! I still have all of you here. 🙂 ~ BTW ~ Bruce: What did they say about you? If I remember correctly, they are a strange bunch & post some odd & untruthful things. {Ha! Imus Truth}.
BTW – Loved the George Carlin link – Gawd! I’m sorry he’s gone. God rest his Irish soul. What a loss!
You are so correct StdomsGirl,
Imus Truth is just what Channel said it was. A conversational site.
Spend time there because there are some decent people. But since the webmaster took all the controls off, it has become a hate filled site by un-identifiable persons.
Channel may know who is scanning this site. At least by IP address but has been mum on the subject.
It is not worth your time. I just love stirring them up a bit.
Stdoms, Thinking you are running out of memory. Not you, your computer. You have plenty of memory!
If your up to it, let’s try this. Go into “Tools” (just below that address bar) click on “Internet Options”. In the Options Box there is a category “Browsing History” What is the number in the fill in box under “Temporary Internet Files”?
ImusTruth is an eclectic site engaging in some very serious topics, often playful, at times mischievous. Stdoms you are a great character and long time contributor to the Imus discussion. Would very much like to see you back at ImusTruth. Let’s see if we can make that happen.
Rhetorically speaking: What hasn’t been said about Bruce?
Channel: I’ll try your directions ie: tools etc. in a little while – right now my eyes are glazing over! Re: Bruce – rhetorically speaking ~ ain’t that the truth! ~ Lol ~ 🙂
Would love to see you Channel at Imus Truth. But then again you are far too busy.
Let us not turn this into another ImusTruh site.
“Guess you haven’t read your email yet Channel”?
Channel: Please keep this thread for a little bit – so that I can refer to your last instruction to me about tools etc. ~ 🙂
re: Post #131
Your welcome, Mr. X.
I hope you found it both edifying and entertaining.
In the process of updating the player, my daughter is really lagging, here in her defense, they got massive floods today in Oklahoma.
http://www.myspace.com/getoffmyphone
“Rhetorically speaking: What hasn’t been said about Bruce?”
LOL…well, being an “early causality” of ImusTruth’s censors in it’s heyday for sticking up for him…what more COULD people say?
…except thanks for all the Youtubes of Imus on the Nines…
…and being a good and loyal fan of the Iman.
Bruce: Hope all is well in Florida…and you and your family get through the storm ok.
Agreed
Thank you Donald,
But obviously we did over 16 hours ago. And if you and Channel believe my only purpose in life is to produce You Tube presentations, both of you are wrong. Keith does write me from time to time.
Now that there are no controls on Imus Truth it is a place of craziness at times.
And you too Donald know my email address, and are welcome to say again that you will always be my friend ad nauseum. But you were never sincere. All because I disagreed with your choice for President? That’s sad.
Fairweather friends I do not need. Channel has proven to be that way too.
Have a fine Wednesday.
Maybe Donald and Channel can explain this away.
Donald was complimentary expressing some very nice sentiments, which I concurred with. Did I miss something?
Karamzin brings Chris Russo into the fold! Mad Dog will host the anchor program on a new sports talk channel on Satellite. Plan is for a crew of hosts to will fill out the rest of schedule.
Chris leaving WFAN is further fallout from the Imus debacle. With revenues down the station is hard pressed to pay 2 super star salaries for one program.
Serves ’em right – hit them in the pockebook. I’m still outraged about the unjust treatment of our guy April ’07 {also me ~ as an I-Fan}.
Denver decides to clean up it’s 4,000 homeless. That is a lot of folks, how come there are so many homeless in Denver? It does have a high cost of living. I am familiar with the cost of housing. I had a brother in law, sell a home in Denver it was incredible what a small home will go for. I don’t know what the housing market is like now, after the housing crisis. I know we bought land for an investment south of there and sold it for a healthy profit (beautiful view of pikes peak) It is possible that folks on the lower end of the economic scale, can’t find housing. They zone so people can’t live in trailers in many places (that is affordable housing.) Still they want their service industry to flourish.
We are still planing on moving to Colorado but south of Denver, the Colorado Springs area.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/08/obama-denver.html
Why does Denver have so many homeless? Geographically the city is the only real metropolitan area for hundreds of miles setting up a magnet effect.
Further Denver has limited programs which address the mental health and addiction issues that are root causes of homelessness. Overall it is an intractable situation.
ChannelXRFR
The dialog about homeless Americans is how old now? But every election, they get trotted out to use as a wedge issue. See- John Edwards two Americas. If everyone agrees that Alzheimer is a mental illness, and no one would ever suggest, that we leave Alzheimer sufferers, out of doors. Then why would we leave other people, who obviously have different kinds of mental illness, out of doors? Addicts and Schizophrenics, some “mental illnesses” have a stigma attached. That goes back to Ronald Reagan’s “no one is homeless in America that doesn’t want to be” That was Cold!
So Denver thinks haircuts for the homeless is a good idea, to make them feel good about themselves NOW- when there is a Democrat Convention but they didn’t need to address their self esteem issues before? Not until they were holding a political convention? Why would Americans be cynical about their political parties? It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out who cares about American Citizens.
Check it out one of these men Protesting the Rev Childress wrote that Article about apologizing to Don Imus.

New Thread – iMus Country Bumpers….
Bruce will be thrilled lol
