McCord: Did Colonel Jack Loose His Shirt In The Market?
Colonel Jack Jacobs without a doubt, is the best prepared, most knowledgeable, articulate, understandable power rotation guest who appears on Imus In The Morning. In this appearance the Colonel breaks down the polls, the presidential campaigns, the economy and impact of raising taxes on ordinary people.
Imus: This election is over, isn’t it?
Colonel Jacobs: Its going to close and be much closer then people think. Don’t believe the polls. They are national polls and that’s not how we elect the president. The other problem with the polls is they are a function of who you ask and what they are asked. Believes Palin is the margin of victory. Picking someone nobody knows with 6 weeks to go, was a bad decision.
The Colonel recommends a Jane Mayer article in The New Yorker “How John McCain came to pick Sarah Palin.” Read|Here. Mayer talks about how McCain really didn’t know who she was and they only spent a couple of hours together.
His book “If Not Now, When?” is doing well and will be out in paperback soon. He is pitching it as a potential good funny war movie! Also revealed the picture of him on the front cover was taken recently but due to the market he has aged considerably over the past several weeks. Charles McCord thinks the Colonel lost his shirt in the market and that’s why he’s half naked in the picture!
Colonel Jacobs: Difference between McCain and Obama is Obama took control of the process and that along with Palin is the difference.
On politicians they are all rapacious, voracious, self centered jackasses, every single one of them are from the same mold and he likes them all!
Imus: Where does Obama’s money come from?
Colonel Jacobs: A lot of it comes from big people. Supposedly comes from little people who write $10 and $20 checks, there is plenty of that. A lot of this stuff is washed through PACS, big ticket people currying favor with who they think is the next boss.
Imus: People all over the world instead of burning American flags want to see Obama get elected. Lets just hope he doesn’t turn into Jimmy Carter.
Colonel Jacobs: You don’t have to go back to far to find Presidents who are not too good. Like the guy we have in there today and Jimmy Carter to name two. He would put Carter up against Bush for the “Lousy President Sweepstakes”. The number of Presidents we’ve had who are very good is a small number.
On Tax increases, If people think their taxes are not going up because they are not making enough money, think again! This is a very highly interrelated economy. If we are going to raise the taxes of people who make a lot of money, eliminate capital gains treatment and raise corporate taxes because we want fat cats to pay more, hold on to your ankles because that money is coming from your pocket!
That money is coming from the your pocket, because you work for the guys who are paying it. We are all in it together. Thomas Payne famously said “If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately”. This us versus them will kick us all right in the butt.
Imus: Ask yourself who’s paying your wages? All of a sudden we will just stop doing this or that or lay off more folks, have prices go up. Colonel Jacobs agrees “It’s happened before.”
Colonel Jacobs: Situation we are in with interest rates going up and people getting laid off and the dollar strengthening which makes it difficult on exporters. We are in big trouble, we need a steady hand on the tiller and that doesn’t mean making life difficult for corporations.
