McCord: Did Colonel Jack Loose His Shirt In The Market?
Colonel Jack Jacobs without a doubt, is the best prepared, most knowledgeable, articulate, understandable power rotation guest who appears on Imus In The Morning. In this appearance the Colonel breaks down the polls, the presidential campaigns, the economy and impact of raising taxes on ordinary people.
ChanX CliffsNotes
Imus: This election is over, isn’t it?
Colonel Jacobs: Its going to close and be much closer then people think. Don’t believe the polls. They are national polls and that’s not how we elect the president. The other problem with the polls is they are a function of who you ask and what they are asked. Believes Palin is the margin of victory. Picking someone nobody knows with 6 weeks to go, was a bad decision.
The Colonel recommends a Jane Mayer article in <i>The New Yorker</i> “How John McCain came to pick Sarah Palin.” Read|Here. Mayer talks about how McCain really didn’t know who she was and they only spent a couple of hours together.
His book “If Not Now, When?” is doing well and will be out in paperback soon. He is pitching it as a potential good funny war movie! Also revealed the picture of him on the front cover was taken recently but due to the market he has aged considerably over the past several weeks. Charles McCord thinks the Colonel lost his shirt in the market and that’s why he’s half naked in the picture!
Colonel Jacobs: Difference between McCain and Obama is Obama took control of the process and that along with Palin is the difference.
On politicians they are all rapacious, voracious, self centered jackasses, every single one of them are from the same mold and he likes them all!
Imus: Where does Obama’s money come from?
Colonel Jacobs: A lot of it comes from big people. Supposedly comes from little people who write $10 and $20 checks, there is plenty of that. A lot of this stuff is washed through PACS, big ticket people currying favor with who they think is the next boss.
Imus: People all over the world instead of burning American flags want to see Obama get elected. Lets just hope he doesn’t turn into Jimmy Carter.
Colonel Jacobs: You don’t have to go back to far to find Presidents who are not too good. Like the guy we have in there today and Jimmy Carter to name two. He would put Carter up against Bush for the “Lousy President Sweepstakes”. The number of Presidents we’ve had who are very good is a small number.
On Tax increases, If people think their taxes are not going up because they are not making enough money, think again! This is a very highly interrelated economy. If we are going to raise the taxes of people who make a lot of money, eliminate capital gains treatment and raise corporate taxes because we want fat cats to pay more, hold on to your ankles because that money is coming from your pocket!
That money is coming from the your pocket, because you work for the guys who are paying it. We are all in it together. Thomas Payne famously said “If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately”. This us versus them will kick us all right in the butt.
Imus: Ask yourself who’s paying your wages? All of a sudden we will just stop doing this or that or lay off more folks, have prices go up. Colonel Jacobs agrees “It’s happened before.”
Colonel Jacobs: Situation we are in with interest rates going up and people getting laid off and the dollar strengthening which makes it difficult on exporters. We are in big trouble, we need a steady hand on the tiller and that doesn’t mean making life difficult for corporations.

Buying Blitz: Dow Surges 890
During the summer Colonel Jacobs warned of the DOW dropping to 10,000 during the summer. Recently he revised that to 8,000 and maybe lower.
How can he get this stuff so right? A lot of people have analytical abilities beyond intelligence and analytics believe he has the discipline to not BS himself.

Imus brought up the Pew Poll this morning. I was looking at them yesterday for some reason, people are confused by what is going on with the different polls, compared to the Pew Poll. Imus said, well they are communist 🙂 I have been reading these articles, and trying to read between the lines, what is it, that these folks are trying to get across to people, without coming and out and saying it?
I admit I don’t get it. I will have to go with Imus’s take on the Pew Poll. unless someone can decipher the meaning of the coverage for me.
Here are two commentaries on the “Pew Poll” for some reason IT is getting lots of attention, why this Poll out of all the others?
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/horseraceblog/2008/10/more_on_the_polls_1.html
Here is Newsbusters commenting on the same Poll in context of the Media Bias.
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-bozell/2008/10/28/bozell-column-obamas-media-landslide
I didn’t catch everything this morning, I will have to stream it online Imus on air. Fox and Friends, is bringing up a lot of legitimate topics. I am going to go vote today, we have early voting. I will be happy when this election is over it has really gone on to long.
Col Jacobs had it right, depends who your ask and what your ask them. Each poll is attempting to divine the future they decide what is key criteria then weight the analysis to reflect the point of view.
IMO Real Clear Politics gets way to much attention. Why is the author of the Real Clear “More on the Polls” from above is struggling with the concept that polls are not closer to the RC average? The Real Clear approach is at fault, taking an average of the polls provides very little insight.
I have been following the IBD/TIPP Poll not only because it was the most accurate in ’04 but also because the poll provides a breakdown among voter segments. Today’s IBD Poll shows Obama for the first time in a week increasing his lead. Click|Here
In this “technological age” (regarding polling) the one major flaw in this election cycle is this:
…the young voters.
For years, when election time rolled around, the young people were the “missing voters” when all was said and done.
This year, it seems to be different. They are savvy about the internet and the tech info link systems…and most importantly:
…you can’t conduct accurate polls with a huge number of people without “land lines”. The are mostly cellular users.
This year seems to be “the year” when young people are not only energized and passionate about their candidate…but according to early voting…they are coming out in droves.
My take on it is this: more than in the past, they seem to be “more in tune” with the issues…and have a personal stake in the outcome of this years election. ..and, they are extremely passionate about their choices.
“The are mostly cellular users.”
Apologies. 🙂
“They are mostly cellular users.”
donaldinks,
I know what you meant, my eldest sister went to cell phone, and got rid of her land line, it isn’t just the kids.
Bob Kerrey’s interview is up 77WABC podcast but not Craig Crawford yet, I really enjoy Craig Crawford.
http://www.wabcradio.com/Article.asp?id=958224&spid=22807
“Outliers make statistical analyses difficult” ~ Harvey Motulsky
There are an awful lot of outliers in the polls accounting for the differences in methodologies, key criteria, weighting, demographics, participants, analysis and results to name a few. What Real Clear Politics attempts to do using an un-weighted averaging of all polls establish an authoritative polling result. But all polls are not created equal and so the RCP result is just so much eye wash.
“The Poll-of-Polls Problem” is an interesting blog where the author lays the challenges for election polling. An interesting point the author makes is “Polls don’t measure voter sentiment, they approximate voter sentiment.” It’s the approximate which gets people in trouble as they overuse the data in the poll. http://www.overdetermined.net/site/content/poll-polls-problem#
My point was this:
Most polls that use “land lines” in today’s technology…are deeply flawed.
Go back to when they did person to person, door to door polling. Then, on to land line communication.
Ask anyone this question: Have you received a polling request on your cell phone?
Aside from that point… early voting is at an all time high, higher than any previous election.
Latest numbers (as of today) that almost 12 million have already voted…and the Democrats are ahead by almost 2 to 1.
I too am “passionate” about my choice.
I’m going to do several things after Obama raises my income taxes and capital gains taxes.
1) I’m going to fire our house keeper and the guys who cut our grass. Net savings about $8,000/year. Wonder if they’ll get that back in tax cuts from Obama. Doubt it.
2) We’re going to dramatically cut back on groceries and dinning out.
3) We’re going to cheat like hell, because I’ll be damned if I support any more non tax payers than I already do.
Now multiply me by thousands upon thousands and see what the impact on the economy is as all these people lose income and jobs.
Don’t see me. Go see your vote for Obama. Tough!
Frec,
Are you out there reading? We got some wonderful news about my Sister Mary. This Award is for her work in Alcohol and Drug Treatment. This is from a Dear Friend of my sister. She fought cancer, and she got her house smucked by a tornado, and she also got this award named after her by the state of Alabama. Her grandson is attending University of Alabama, on a Football Scholarship. Texas Girl explained to me a thread or so ago, how that works if they don’t show up on the roster.
Mary received the Administrative Office of Courts Instructor of the Year Award..The award was just created this year so Mary was the first recipient. Subsequent winners will receive the “Mary Williams Instructor of the Year Award”. So from this year on one of hundreds instructors statewide will compete for the award. It was an honor to receive it in her behalf. Had to go to Birmingham to receive it as she wasn’t up to the travel. I gave a short but excellent speech(if I do say so) about her achievements. There was a standing ovation from over 300 conference attendees.
We are all proud of her. Several years ago she also received the C.C. “Bo” Torbert award for excellence in the Statewide court referral program. I nominated her for that award. To date she is the only Instructor to have received that particular award. She looked real good the other day but I know she has her ups and downs.
Take care,
skiwolf
Is that the fifth shoe or are we still at four?? I say keep the housekeeper and get rid of the illegals cutting your grass. No wait that’s wrong. Send the guys cutting the grass out to dinner, its only fair.
Ski,
Imus with Col Jacobs said about corps “we will just stop doing this or that” but that’s just as true for individuals. What you will find is the cutbacks will be at the margins mostly services, which will hurt those with lower income.
BTW Have already started to cut back. Wall Street Journal offered a one year home delivery subscription for $99. Accepted the WSJ offer and changed the New York Times subscription to weekends. Discovered the same person delivers the NYT and WSJ, made me feel better.
Thats change you can believe in!
Yeah X, the Obama folks just don’t get it. We also have already started to cut back and will cut back further as this process continues.
There is no doubt Obama is the next Pres. That is not so bad except for his team mates, Botox Dumbo Pelosi and Reid.
My main thing is I will pay no more taxes for those I already support, which are many. I will simply cheat like hell. You have to be careful when you cheat.
Never ever cheat on the income side —- only cheat on the deduction side. Easy to do and hard to get caught. I know what to do.
No more money from me to support those who pay no taxes. Maybe they should move to Mexico?
One last thought. I’m wondering if as an “actual taxpayer” if I should not deserve some preferential treatment.
I mean I support 40% of the country so should that not mean that I get some extra benefits.
For example, maybe I should get first notice in a national emergency? Maybe I should get first dibs at social security when it goes bust? Maybe I should be able to go through TSA faster at the airport.? Maybe the cops should pay more attention to my house than the house that pays no taxes?
You’re welcome the 40% of American that my wife and I support. You can have us over for dinner any time you want.
LMAO….
Well, Obama supporters, as my self and my wife, pay taxes…just as the rest of you do.
The difference is we want to see them spent on OUR country, and OUR people…
…as for the markets?
Well, as GOIMAN has quipped: “Is that the fifth shoe or are we still at four??”
Just try to keep both shoes on both your feet after the election…and try keeping them firmly on the ground. 🙂
Better placed there, then where they were placed in the last 8 years. :-0
…and while I’m at it GOIMAN, keep your head held high…and not up your… 😉
Define “our people”. The 40% who already pay no taxes and contribute nothing? You support em. I’m not going to.
I will be so glad when I don’t hear about Polling anymore, and raw data.
I am going back to what I regularly do after the elections, in fact we are in the process of setting up Melungeon message board and chat feature, trying to set it up so it is easy to use. I have been asked to moderate but I want to cut back not add on, it feels good to see the end of this tunnel in sight. Remember we are all still Americans, an election doesn’t change who we are.
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/29/iowahawk-explains-the-mysteries-of-polling-data/
Well, Ski:
When we finally put people BACK to work…they will be PAYING taxes! That is some sound economic advice. “Trickle Down” economics has NEVER worked, and never will. You feed it from the bottom up, not the other way around.
Trickle down economics has wrought what we now face: greedy bastards that have looted our countries’ manufacturing base, our stock market, and sent their wealth off shore, and NO money invested in our Nation.
Time to reverse that idiotic mindset.
If paying my taxes will bring jobs to those that want to work, and have been raped in the last 8 years…glad to oblige. 🙂
“Define “our people”. The 40% who already pay no taxes and contribute nothing? You support em.”
Ok, I was one of those supposed 40% that paid no taxes…for a while. When I lost my job of 21 years in the airline industry, it took me 4 months to get another job. At half the wage. But I’m paying taxes now.
Get it? I hope so. Many others are going to be following my lead shortly…if not at this very moment. Would they give anything to work again (and pay their taxes)?
You Betcha! 😉
donaldinks
Seems you lost your sense of humor along the way…kind of sad. Don’t be too concerned, my feet have and will always be placed firmly on the soil I love so much. You may be gloating now, but lets see how much happier you will be a year from now. Talk about having your head up your proverbial ass.
I will support no more. Everyone should pay something. Even a buck. “Trickle Up” does not work in this society. But, I guess that’s what you and Obama want to change.
Socialism is wonderful in Sweden. However, it won’t work in this country. Sorry you lost your job. Been there done that.
Tough!
Question is who’s going to create the jobs? Raising capital gains and dividend taxes is a disincentive to investment and savings.
The US has the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world which increases export costs and is a contributing factor to off-shoring.
The Government has done its fair share of damage to manufacturing in the US. Add to corporate taxes; laws, rules, and regulations which further limit US global competitiveness you get an idea where we need to focus.
Bottoms Up? Roosevelt established WPA and the CCC providing individuals a few bucks and the nation with HOPE but little else. Was not until WWII and the arms industry kicked in that the country finally worked its way out of the Great Depression.
Don’t waste your breath X. Some people don’t want to listen to facts. It’s much easier and faster to think that it’s better to take from some to give to others. No concept of how real economics works. Companies like GE and IBM to name only a couple already do over 50% of their business outside this country. Duh?
Think about the damage that “mark to market” did to the financial industry. What did more damage “those greedy bastards” or this ill conceived regulatory rule? I submit it was mark to market that took the industry down.
GE and IBM indeed do a lot of international business. One thing the US can do is adjust the corporate tax code as it applies to repatriation of off shore profits to encourage global corps to bring profits back to the US rather then parking such profits in real estate and other ventures.
I think Donaldinks is putting a face on it, the other side of the coin , this is why Obama’s economic & tax pitch is working. Live the downsizing experience, then be told to feel good about the people at the top, who make the decisions, getting big bonuses from our “Bail Out” who can’t be taxed because it will hurt job creation. I think that would make a person feel that the game has been stacked against them. I don’t think Obama’s plan is the answer but I could see not wanting more of the same.
Watch your future President Donald and tell me if you feel the same way.
And someone was talking about trickle up. Well that truly doesn’t work in America. We do not work our whole lives to give to those that make less or pay ZERO taxes.
If you want something, you work for it. Hand Outs from the Government is not the way to go.
Bush may have been wrong in many ways, but he was not wrong on the trickle down effect.
Did anyone post that very interesting example of this yet? If not I will find it and post it here.
Good luck watching Obama speak to a few tonight while I watch the World Series.
This is rather long, but follow along please.
Tax Lesson – Let’s put TAX CUTS in terms everyone can understand…except the Obamabots:
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our TAXES, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.” Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But ifthey subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the $20,”declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,” but he got $10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!” “That’s true!!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up!
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, this is how our tax system works. The
people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Obama is a made for TV loser.
I don’t know for sure who made him. That will come out at some point in the future.
Vote for him at your peril. I don’t really care because I will cheat like hell and move money out of the country.
I will pay no further tax in support of others who don’t.
It’s that simple.
Thanks Bruce, I put it up on the bulletin, on My space. I really like Craig Crawford.
This is funny
I like this one from the Onion. Obama undertakes Presidential Internship program. He interns with the President of Spain.

You are again Welcome Ree,
Whatever you want and my Friends want I oblige.
Ginger is on my list. She can give you my email address.
I did not know this…
What one learns listening to Imus!
I was just listening to Imus’s worse case scenario, what if’s for the outcome of the Election. The Democrats are convinced they are going to win, and at the last minute they don’t…reminds me of Lucy promising Charlie Brown, go ahead Charlie Brown, I promise to hold the football, go ahead and kick it …oh, I thought, I was Evil. So it is Lupica, that is whispering in Imus’s ear….We should have known. Does Mike Lupica have an email address?
I talked to my daughter, the looming prospect of an Obama Administration, has caused a run on Gun purchases in Oklahoma. They are convinced that Obama will disarm everyone, after he is elected so they are buying their guns now. Yeah that’s what we need Okies stockpiling. That can’t turn out well. That is one thing Obama, might have thought of including in his infomercial last night….the Okies think the buy back programs, to get guns of the street is a secret way of disarming the public. Yes I am referring to the Heartland. They are talking about using their storm shelters, for when Iran Nukes us, their worse case scenarios of an Obama Administration. Okay they don’t think they are a strike first priority but they do think California is, and they think, the winds will directly effect them. Ahh the way the Okies are taking the prospect of an Obama Administration, finally put things in perspective, and I had a good and long needed laugh. Tom Oliphant, stop worrying about Bridgeport Ct., so goes Idabel, Okalahoma so goes the rest of the Country LOL!
laree
Say it ain’t so! Not California!! What a shame THAT would be:)
Goiman
They are convinced that If Obama is elected, it is green lighting an attack on the country, they are saying not if but when. They predict it would be the Left Coast- California. They think that is because hitting California, with it’s large economy would do the most damage. You know Code Pink is evacuating Berkeley, What do they know, we don’t know? Actually it is because Halloween is Coming up, and that is their official Holiday 😉 The Joe Biden: Mark My Words -Gird Your Loins, didn’t help. The Paranoia out there is palpable. Obama bought a half hour of TV time. I didn’t watch, did he put any of these fears to rest?
Listening to Imus complain about his “old lesbian” picture reminded of a time when Tim Russert put up a picture of Camilla Parker Bowles when talking about Imus once on MSNBC. Pretty funny.
Kerry’s explanation of why Obama opted out of public financing was classic lawyering, playing it all around the edges. He only agreed to sit down with McCain. Obama’s money is coming from the small people.
Imus: What about the pledge he signed he then invokes a painful moment for the Senator “So he was for it before he was against it?”
Kerry asked Imus to come up to Massachusetts and vote for him.
Imus made a great point regarding Kerry’s steadfast support of Imus. For that alone I admire John Kerry and would vote for him.
One more thing I was listening to WABC this am, Bernie rocked during the commercials!
This one made me laugh out loud, you have to read it to the end.
http://getoffmyphone.blogspot.com/2008/10/we-report-you-decide-not-to-watch.html
Pretty funny laree. One benefit of having Verizon FIOS – I also get no MSNBC. Saves me a bunch of money because I know if I ever happened across Olberbut by accident I’d throw a brick through the TV.
Interesting how Imus and Cavuto seem to have become such buddies. I do admit I like Cavuto’s appearances. He’s great.
Show was really good today IMO.
Skiwolf,
Listening to Imus this morning, it is becoming increasingly clear who has been whispering in his ear….Lupica, Lupica, Lupica….I can’t remember, is he a dog or a cat person? Where did Imus say he was living 😉
http://www.bored.com/photos/partiallyshavedcat_3.html
Yeah after listening to Lupica for many years I’m surprised he is that much in the tank for Obama. He just has never struck me as that kind of guy. I do remember though that he wrote some scathing columns about HRC during the primaries.

Well you won’t like this post laree, but that’s ok.
Lupica actually makes some really good points in that article.
Having lived and worked in various parts of NYC, including Brooklyn and Staten Island for many years, I can easily tell you that they qualify, for small town status, just as much as Palin’s so called “small towns of America”.
Just because these “small towns” reside in the greater metropolis of NYC doesn’t mean a thing unless someone is trying to dump them all in a bucket they don’t like.
I’ve also lived in almost every geographic area of this country including Colorado, Arizona, Illinois, Georgia, Florida. Frankly, some of the best small towns I’ve ever been to are in NYC. I’d much rather hang out in a small town of NYC than a small town say in Georgia.
Went to one two weeks ago to finally savor the ethnic food of Central America that has been so noted of late. The soccer fields in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Red Hook is just south of Carol Gardens, which is just south of Cobble Hill which is just south of Brooklyn Heights. Wonderful small towns all.
Lived for two years in Cobble Hill and wish I still did. In fact, it could well be the retirement destination of choice for us in the future.
Skiwolf
Lupica wants to find fault and he does. What does he say about Obama’s remarks about Rural people, clinging to their guns and bibles, and shunning people different from themselves. Selective fault finding?
I think Lupica is simply defending a place he has worked in all his life. Nothing more sinister than that. No conspiracy, just being a bit defensive.
His “fault finding” was no more selective than Palin’s little hidden swipe at what she considers to be the “not real America”. Lupica’s disdain for Palin is clear. Not sure I blame him.
skiwolf & laree
I lived in Carroll Gardens for 10 years and it is like a small town. Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights all have a flavor of their own. I truly miss those neighborhoods and all they have to offer. I go back every now and then for my “fix” of Italian pastries and pizza mmmmmmmm. If your ever there, don’t forget to visit the Promenade in the Heights, the view of Manhattan is breathtaking.
skiwolf,
He doesn’t have to like Palin, anymore then other people don’t have to like Obama. I stated before, I am not going to lose my sense of humor, over a bunch of Politicians. I will be very happy when this election is finally over.
I apologize, in retrospect, if any of you were offended or taken aback on my recent posts on the state of the economy of our country.
I’ve worked (and paid my taxes, and never complained) for over 40 years now. In 3 years, I will take my early pension and spend my time helping at soup kitchens, or maybe a “meal on wheels” program. Charity work. There is a great need for that.
What I have witnessed since entering the workforce in 1970, is a continuous decline of opportunity for regular Americans to go out…get a job, and provide for their family.
When I first entered the workforce, there were 2 “Temp” agencies. In the area I live in, those two (Manpower and Kelly services) have swollen to more than 30 or more diverse agencies of the like.
The difference between then, and now, is that these agencies were initially created to provide a “stop-gap” for regular workers, who were either ill, or on vacation.
They have now become one of the prime sources for major corporations to fill positions for a short period, to avoid having to outright hire people…and pay them benefits.
The thing is this: I’ve worked in Steel Mills, the Construction Industry, Fast Food Restaurant Manager, Industrial Consignments, Heavy Machine operator, Underground Utility Locater, Gas Station Manager, Final Auto Parts Inspector, and Interior Aircraft Security.
Some of those jobs were extreme manual labor, dirty, long hours, but I always believed that no matter what you did in life…to do it well, and give it your best.
All of these jobs meant one, and only one, thing to me: a place to make some contribution to society, make a living wage (sometimes at minimum) and to have a sense of self worth and dignity.
That’s all most people want in life. Opportunity. Dignity.
The ability to provide and support their family.
As the time grows short, for me at least, to continue in the workforce of our Nation…I want those same opportunities available I once had for any American that wants them, will work hard for them…and in return, will receive at least the basic needs in life to survive and the means available to care for their family (especially children).
GOIMAN, I owe you a personal apology. I haven’t lost my sense of humor…I wrote at retort towards you I much regret. Again, I apologize.
To REE:
Your post (31) eloquently summed up what I wanted to convey…(in a shorter post than THIS one. LOL)… It was spot on…and you were completely correct in your observations.
Happy (early) Halloween! AND… good luck to whoever your candidates may be come next Tuesday. On with the future!
Be well, all. 🙂
goiman, I lived on Clinton near the corner of I think Baltic or it might have been Warren. Can’t remember.
My favorite thing was a meat market on Court Street called Staubitz. Still there. Little tiny place. All you had to do was call em up order whatever and in 30 minutes or so some kid on a bike would show up with your stuff. Miss that.
http://www.staubitz.com/index.htm
Palin’s comment regarding “Real Americans” works precisely because Lupica and others in the media make it work.
Republicans ceded urban areas long ago to the Democrats, causing no harm to McCain/Palin. The media continues to harp bring it up and in a contra way “Real America” plays well with small town, suburban and rural voters.
There is no “Real America”. It’s one country. Maybe I’ll vote for Paul. I’d rather not be associated with the “Real America” crowd. Palin can have em.
The odd thing about urban vs rural, when 9/11 happened and in a big way to NYC, the country rural folks, were like, oh hell no, this isn’t going to stand. Right there whatever was spiting people up, it made absolutely no difference, you can hear it in country songs “Do you remember, when our neighbors got attacked” A lot of urban, suburban, and rural folks, suited up quick, and in a hurry in response. It is politics that divides us but politics doesn’t seem able to break the very real bond. Attack us, and we will get back to bickering with each other later!
I hope Lupinia, hasn’t completely lost his sense of humor. I haven’t. Do you suppose, he has a house cat or one of those out door tom cats 😉
Happy Halloween, Donald Inks!
Laree,
Thanks for your shout out yesterday…I peruse here as much as I can just to keep up, but rarely time to post these days. Living life on life’s terms.
Congratulations to your sister on her well-deserved awards and honors, grateful she’s doing her good deeds in my adopted state (well, thankfully, they adopted me). Most of all best wishes in her battle against cancer. Next time you come, I’ll meet you at the Vulcan statue (you know about McCain’s opposition to our local monument to pork barrel spending, right?).
Roll Tide!
Ree, Imus on more then one occasion threatened to have his terrier Virgil take on Lupi’s terrier!
There’s two breeds – ones a “flop ear” and the other’s a “prick ear” – Norwich, I think, “witches ear”…anyway, Bernie will have to take it from there…
Ole Lupica saved himself some heart ache, I can’t shave a cute little puppy…… not by myself anyway BIG GRIN.
Pardon the crudeness of thisbut truth isn’t always pretty.

I LOVED going to Staubitz they had the best selection of meats anywhere. I truly miss the old-time feel of the place and all the other markets on Court Street. You must have went into Sahadis , wasn’t that place great! I have a relative in Florida who orders from them. I lived on 1st Place and Clinton Street. The only thing I don’t miss is the alternate side of the street parking. What a pain. Good to reminisce, thanks.
I sort of feel like defending Georgia. I was in NYC and I found it to be a very friendly city. But from reading the comments here, I wonder if folks would have been as helpful if the 9/11 planes had hit Atlanta or some place in Florida. But then some of you probably would say, oh, well, the place was a waste to begin with.
But what the hey, just clinging to my guns and Bible here in Florida.
And supporting McCain/Palin, I might add.
I remember so clearly, that when 9/11 happened there were tears for NYC from the smallest of country towns. They cried for what happened to New York City and their country. They also gave money and helped as they could. On any ordinary given day, many from NYC would have called these people hicks, but on that day NYC was brought to her knees and the rest of the country rallied in cities small and large, and we were depressed, and we cried, and we grieved–and NYC was grateful. It was a period of national depression.
My daughter lives in NYC and I remember on the 4th of July following 9/11 I was at a party with her friends and they seemed amazed when I expressed to them the sadness , empathy, and compassion that we felt for NYC on 9/11 and the days afterward. They had been so hurt themselves and I think they really were having trouble grasping the vastness of America outside of New York City and the sincere depth of oneness that we were feeling out here.
Bella, I do think that if 9/11 had happened in any other city, it would have been the same. Help and compassion would have come from New York City and other cities large and small. We Americans seem to rally in a time of crisis, and then afterwards, go our own little polarized ways.
I don’t believe that Sarah Palin was trying to slight the big cities when she referred to “real America”, but I can see where some might take offense. I think she was trying to appeal to the excited crowds, to fire them up for the moment.
I’ve always thought that Imus looked like Uncle Sam. Next time you see an illustration of Uncle Sam, just think about it…LOL
Having watched the World Trade Centers come down from a hill above my house, I find bringing 9/11 in to this kind of discussion beyond gross and completely insulting.
The assertion that people in NYC would not have been as helpful or caring had this happened in “Florida” or “Atlanta” is simply not worth typing about. Unbelievable.
Personally I’m not big on either guns or religion. However, I certainly support one’s right to have them should they make that choice.
skiwolf,
I disagree. Bella and Ginger are welcome to comment here as well as ANYONE else. They have opinions, and they are free to express them.
That is what I did laree, I disagreed.
I also have a right to express my opinion. That you don’t like the opinion and choose to attack me for it is your deal. I could care less.
I have no public opinion on who posts where. I certainly did not make any comment in that regard.
Thanks for the lecture, however. Now where is that little thing that simulates “eyes rolling”?
There is some history of NYC paying scant attention to terrorist attacks in the heartland, witness the Oklahoma City Bombing. As a domestic terrorist attack maybe it didn’t measure up to a radical islamist attack on the WTC. Since 9/11 we certainly understand the angst Oklahomans continue to experience.
If I may chime in, laree I did not view skiwolfs comment as anything but disagreeing with Bella on her assertion that people in NYC would not have helped out if this tragedy happen anywhere else.
I know for a fact having lived in NYC, Queens and Brooklyn that each boro contains wonderful, caring loving people. I can’t imagine Bella or anyone else thinking something different, just can’t.

How do you know what people contributed on an individual level? Also, whenever there is a national catastrophe, such as Katrina and wildfires in California, who is the first to respond with equipment, fireman, etc. They look to the NYC fire department for assistance. I would not be too quick to pass judgment.
X, where does that observation come from?
First, the two events are not even remotely comparable. Remember, 9/11 not only included NYC, but also the Pentagon and United 93 in PA.
Although certainly tragic beyond belief, Oklahoma City was a much smaller self contained event. Man I don’t even know where to start so I’m going to stop now before……….
People poured money into NYC, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania, after the 9/11 attacks. Charity came in from all over the country, from people who may not even have had that much money in the first place. There were Fire Depts., that donated Fire Engines to NYC.
My daughter went to an event where Rudy Giuliani was speaking in OKC., during the Republican Primaries, he was speaking to Oklahomans. He said, we share a terrible common history. Rudy was carrying a lot of Oklahoma, during the Republican Primaries, they love him. I walked the fence in OKC., before they put up the memorial. I have photos of both Memorials. The Catholic Church across the Street from the Murrah memorial. A Statue of Jesus turned away from where the Murrah building, used to be, with the inscription “Jesus Wept” Trudy Jean Rigney, was one of the 3 people that was killed, when the blast hit the building across the street, she left a 9 month old son behind. Her cousin is going to Law School at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

That helps, I know it isn’t my browser now.
Having grown up in the “Shaddow of the Apple” and lived here most of my life I was hurt by Bella’s comment.
I can think of many times in my life from The flooding of Wilkes Barre Pa in the 70s, to the San Francisco Earthquake in the 80s to Hurricane Andrew in the 90s (not to mention the OKC bombing) to Katrina where New Yorkers dropped everything to lend a hand.
If the point of the post was to complain about “New York” stereotyping the rest of the nation you’d think the poster would be more sensitive to stereotyping New York.
As for Ski calling her on it, why is Bella’s right to state her feelings anymore sacred than Ski’s right to disagree with it?
Skiwolf said: There is no “Real America”. It’s one country. Maybe I’ll vote for Paul. I’d rather not be associated with the “Real America” crowd. Palin can have em.
I’d much rather hang out in a small town of NYC than a small town say in Georgia.
…..
Being one of the crowd Palin is talking about, and all my relatives living in Georgia, I just take issue with this statement. I’m sure you didn’t mean that like it sounded to me at first. “Palin can have em.”
So who started the stereotyping? That’s my question?
P. T. said: Having grown up in the “Shaddow of the Apple” and lived here most of my life I was hurt by Bella’s comment.
…..
And for that I apologize. For sure, I did not mean to hurt your feelings. Especially since I have met you personally and like you a lot. I just read hear often, post hardly at all, but I happened to read what actually hurt my feelings — a slam at states where I either live or have loved ones living and a slam at anyone who happens to support Sarah Palin, which is me, as “Palin can have ’em.”
Now everyone can relax and be happy. I’m gone.
Correction: “here” not hear.
I have a knee jerk reaction and will continue to do so with anyone that uses terms like “Real Americans”. That term is almost always associated with other “code words” that even as a strong McCain supporter I find completely objectionable.
I challenge anyone to define what “Real American” means. Frankly I’m not sure there are any which was kind of the point a couple hundred years ago when this country was founded.
The only “Real Americans” got screwed and killed of by the millions by ——— US.

Ginger,
We got a message from the Bee, on I Man page. The Bee is on the radio in Pheonix, Arizona, and wanted to know if we knew any good guest to book. You know who we would like to listen to…I commented to her, I don’t know anyone in Pheonix but Fred Imus is on Outlaw XM, and he is down in Tucson. I stated, he is really funny, you know if you did book him, you should ask him about animal training LOL! The Bee wrote back “that’s a great idea maybe we could have a live animal there with us” I was rolling on the floor after that 🙂 You should add the Bee. The Bee is part of a group of them, who are related to that Radio Station, on the I Man Top Friends section, The Bee is on the same radio station, carrying Imus in the Morning in Pheonix…I don’t know how to break it to her, they aren’t those kind of animal training tips 😉

KENNEWICK MAN
But when Chatters spotted a stone projectile buried in a hip bone, he realized the bones were much older–that type of point disappeared from the region at least 4,500 years ago. A quickly arranged carbon dating test revealed the bones’ age, and significance. Word got out, and all hell broke loose. Some people of European ancestry claimed Kennewick Man as a long-lost brother, even though the “Caucasoid” label now looks wrong. Instead, Chatters and physical anthropologists say, Kennewick Man looks more Asian than anything–a bit like the ancient Ainu people of Japan. These bones argue that the people who lived in the New World 9,000 years ago were more physically varied than today’s Indians.
Good point! I wonder if Kennewick Man spoke English? Oh well probably not. Must be a liberal.
I can imagine the BEE following Fred around while he marks his territory!

Donald, Noticed on comment #62 the occupations listed “Steel Mills, the Construction Industry, Fast Food Restaurant Manager, Industrial Consignments, Heavy Machine operator, Underground Utility Locater, Gas Station Manager, Final Auto Parts Inspector, and Interior Aircraft Security” are all in the private sector. My point is jobs come from both large and small businesses not from the government. However government through taxation, laws, rules and regulations can and does limit the ability of those businesses to create jobs.
The US could improve its manufacturing base and restore jobs. Setting US investor and business tax burden more in line with the rest of the world would be a start to making US business more competitive.

The McCain family have DNA project already.
I mentioned to Frec before, the two families of McCains today, could easily take a DNA test, and compare to see if they had a common ancestor. There is already a McCain DNA Project. This link is from Barra McCain, and he mentions the Oxford, Mississippi McCains.
http://www.electricscotland.com/familytree/magazine/febmar2004/mccain.htm
I came across this blog, when I was looking for the McCain family genealogy and origins. I thought the warning at the top, was pretty funny, old feuds don’t die, they just simmer.
http://plaidtothebone.kilts.com/
From rootsweb list for McCains:
Now with the Antrim McCains they are somewhat unique in that they were
very close to a sept of the McDonnells. That would be the Antrim and
Ile McDonnells, called Clann Eóin Mhór. By the 1600s the English
considered the
two septs as one they were so close. So the Antrim McCain/Cains are
often listed as a sept of the Irish McDonnells. To show you how close
they were in the 1600s…. the earl of Antrim (McDonnell chief in the
1600s) was the foster bother to Manus Mac Uí Catháin (the leading
McCain family). The regiments of the Irish McDonnells are full of
O’Cain and McCain officers and flag bearers. The McDonald chief Coll
Ciotach was married to an Antrim McCain woman. But the Antrim
McCains also are a sept of the Clann Uí Catháin (Clan O’Cain). Clan
O’Cain had six septs, of which the McCains/Cain were one, the smallest
but the oldest. They would more properly be called of Clan O’Cain than
of Clan McDonnell I would think. Again, they were both in practice.
Basically, what it boils down to that by 1600 they were a small Irish
clan in a very hostile rapidly changing environment. The other 5 septs
of clan O’Cain would be smashed to bits by the Plantation of Derry circa
1605 onward. Thousands of O’Cains would perish by starvation as the
English turned them out of their houses in winter and confiscated their
foods supplies, guns, etc., hard, hard times. A wave of refugees headed
for north Antrim, so not only did the small McCain sept fear being eaten
alive by the Plantation, but their relations moving on their lands out
numbered them. In steps the Earl of Antrim, head of the Irish
McDonnells who cuts a deal with the head of the Antrim McCains. The
crown had given the earl of Antrim ‘ownership’ of all the O’Cain lands
in Antrim. He rents them back to the Antrim McCains for a nominal fee
of 1 pound a year…. but they are his men at that point.
Politics…. but it keeps the Antrim McCains in power, at least until
Cromwell came through.
As a McCain we could join either a clan McCain/Cain society or a Antrim
McDonnell one, or both I suppose. The Antrim McDonnells are the only
surviving branch of the old Clann Eóin Mhór. The current chief is the
Earl of Antrim. With Clan O’Cain there is a effort going on right now
to identify the taoiseach (chief). There are two lines that claim this
(Extract from a commercially prepared document purporting to be a history of the McDaniel name:) “The surname McDaniel appeared as a Scottish clan or family in their territory of county Antrim. This name was a corruption of MacDonnell from the ancient Lords of the Isles. The MacDaniels were gallowglasses (soldiers of fortune) to the powerful Chiefs of Northern Ireland and Ulster about the 14th century.”
(Leslie Lucas, in his 1962 letter (referred to below) seems to imply that the Rev. P. Walsh in his book Irish Chiefs and Leaders states that the O’Neills brought the McDaniels (McDonnells) over from Scotland to fight for them! They apparently then settled near Dungannon.
From Rasmussen:
“Obama leads by ten among women but trails by two among men”.
I guess we can blame that little event in 1920 for the about to happen election of Obama? Just kidding.
The numbers don’t add up for McCain. Also from Rasmussen:
“The economy remains the top issue of Election 2008 for 46% of voters. Just 20% see national security as the top priority. The importance of the economic issue is highlighted by the fact that McCain was leading by three points in mid-September just before Lehman Brothers collapsed and made public the depth of Wall Street’s problems. Shortly after that, Obama moved ahead and has enjoyed a stable lead that has lasted into the final weekend of Election 2008.
Among those who consider the economy most important, Obama leads 66% to 31%.
Among those who say that national security issues are the top priority, McCain leads 75% to 22%”.
I didn’t watch SNL last night but Hot Air, put up three clips from the show. The third one is Ben Afleck playing Keith Olbermann and it is hysterical.

I don’t believe Palin was scammed, I believe that so called “phone call” is a fake. They put together various conversations and made it sound like she was answering the questions. Quite lame really.
I would prefer to believe you’re right, however, this from CNN:
“The Palin campaign confirmed the prank. “Governor Palin received a phone call on Saturday from a French Canadian talk show host claiming to be French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Governor Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy, and other celebrities in being targeted by these pranksters. C’est la vie.”

I left a comment for Bruce on Imus Truth, a friend on I Man Page, stayed up and listened to Bernie, he asked me, if I had stayed up and listened, I didn’t. The truth is once they called Ohio, I went to sleep, I knew what I was waking up to.
I would really like to hear Bernie’s show from this morning if Bruce recorded it because it isn’t up on 77WABC as far as I can tell.
Ree,
I answered you over at Imus Truth. I do have the 4 hours. Haven’t edited it yet.
As far as further comments from me here or over there, I have am done until the hype has calmed down.

Thanks Bruce I appreciate it. An Imus and Bernie Fan on Myspace stayed up and listened, he said, that was a very interesting 4 hours.

Blacks Run the New Black House Bitch!
Of course not, goiman. That bad behavior is no more appropriate than the noose left in a tree at a Texas school this morning. We are all going to have to be patient with these young people. It is going to take time to process the events of this week. For many Americans, both black and white, the election of a Barak Obama compromises ingrained belief systems regarding what to expect from our government. Many just don’t know how to act. It is up to us to show them.
On a “lighter” note, for those of you scared to death of an unbridled Pelosi/Reid Congress, read up on Rahm
Emanuel. He may become your best friend. (: (Might put some of the Muslim crapola to rest also)
That said, with all the fantastic writers here, is there not someone that will talk about what this week has meant to them or family members? You don’t have to go all HofPo, but , come on, this is a special time in this country and the ONLY country that could pull it off. A time of pride in who we are and what we believe in. No one should have their heads down. I’ve read all of the wailing and knashing of teeth for months now-time to show a little love. The sun did come up after all.

Sorry but for not I’m not feeling all warm and fuzzy. I want my President to be elected on the basis of merit and substance, none of which BO retains. I think this post on the “other ” site sums it all up :
Unlike Brian, I am not willing to strike a conciliatory tone. Barack Hussein Obama is not qualified to be president. He was elected for the SINGULAR reason that he is black. Had he been white, he’d still be languishing in the Illinois legislature. What America did on tuesday was vote for affirmative action, racial discrimination, and racism, which are all, by their very nature, anti-merit, anti-achievement, and anti-constitutional.
I also truly believe that McCain had this election won until the economic crisis hit. For some odd reason, there are Americans who still believe that, when the economy sours, we need liberals in power. Don’t they know that FDR PROLONGED the Great Depression? He didn’t end it. People ignorant of their own history repeat it. Now we’re stuck with a socialist, marxist, racist, and antisemite for president. What a dark, dark time in our history.
I was looking at the exit poll results yesterday. The only demographic groups that seem to have gone for McCain were white voters (56 – 43%) and voters over the age of 65. Osama Obama was put over the top by blacks, hispanics, young idiots, and enough scared people to turn a 52% majority.
Now is not the time to “work together”. Now is the time to do anything within our legal means to undermine the Hussein presidency. With a little luck we can either impeach this monster (highly unlikely) or trash him enough that he is voted out in four years.
What a disaster this is. A true disaster.

It is up to Barack Obama, to deliver the Unity he promised, after a polarized electorate went to the polls, it is going to be a herculean task. This Country has problems, big harry ones, we need to be united, not divided, and not rhetorical unity -real unity.
Lets take a good hard look at the past 8 years or more specifically the last 5 years of the Bush administration. Daily pounding by MSM, special interest groups, democrats, Hollywood, liberals in general, etc…. calling him a Nazi, Hitler, war criminal, etc… How about all the movies, NY plays, news stories, documentaries, protests, actions/words of democrats, etc…
Now, you (not a specific person, a general term) want me and others who think differently than you to “unite” under a party, ideology, and movement that has initiated disgusting personal attacks , innuendo, smear tactics, and falsehoods 24/7 for 5 straight years against a sitting president, vice president, & his entire cabinet. Calling 2 black Secretaries of State Uncle Toms not because we celebrate their historical achievements as minorities but because they don’t follow lock step with your ideology. A House Majority leader who thinks she is the Secretary of State holding foreign policy meetings on foreign soil with enemy dictators. A Senate Majority leader who declares publicly the surge has failed 3 months before it has even started. Senators coming to the aid of a ruthless dictator and denouncing a presidents war actions on foreign soil. A democrat congress & senate (while minority and majority) that filibustered darn near every piece of legislation sponsored by the executive branch. I can keep going on and on and on……
NO WAY
What I want and what everyone in America deserves at this point is definitive answers. No more generalizations. No more hope. No more change. Campaigning is over. The days of slick speaking and teleprompter charisma are over. Real substantive answers.
While I am a big believer in courtesy & civility in my life & practice it always I think it’s time to look back & recall exactly how we got to be the United States of America.
Did we “negotiate” with the crown in the spirit of bipartisanship?
Or did we say hell no, we are not going to take this, we demand our LIBERTY & if you won’t give it to us the nice way, we will use our power.
The ENEMY decides how far we have to take the fight, not us. They can stop pushing us around & stop taking our freedoms away & stop abusing us anytime they choose
I’m sorry you feel that way, guys?/gals?. As someone says, “the proof will be in the pudding” I am more optimistic than you about America’s future, but then, I ‘m a “trekkie” and follow a different set of rules. (;
And, because you are both such downers, I am not inviting you to my “End of an Error” party on Jan. 20! Peace out.

texasgirl “We’re Not Happy Till You’re Not Happy” LOL!
You know I’m joking Bobbie right?
TexasGirl – I am drinking the koolaid! The incivility that has existed in our politics for so long has become disgraceful. The taste and love of power has so mesmerized OUR REPRESENTATIVES in govt that they seem to forget whom they are supposed to be representing. And the likes of Hannity and Bilbo are frothing the very bitter brews they blend out of every human misstep.
We are witnessing an historic moment. This man, Obama, won the popular vote by a majority! He was not selected by a hanging chad or the supreme court. He CAN speak the English language (most of the time – trouble with the possesive participles and “We’ve gotta”). He won my native state of NC which has not voted democratic for prez since 1976! IMO, he struck a chord in the American people who are really tired of all the histrionics; who just want some people to govern and to fix the messes we are in at home and abroad. Perhaps it is time for us to again become our bothers’ keepers; to make an attempt to educate our children; to bring our poor out of poverty, not by handouts, but by handsup.
And Ski, before you jump my bones about your taxes and where they are going, I am a single woman (by choice 🙂 ), who pays more taxes percentage-wise because I have no dependants (by choice 🙂 ) than just about anybody on the scale. No, I don’t want my money going to those who pay no taxes at all; but I do want the infirm, incompetent and insane off the street and cared for. I do want to see our public schools restored and our teachers properly trained and paid. I do want our borders defended and our infrastructure rebuilt. AND I do want my damned 401K back!
Obama offered me something no one else has in a long time – HOPE. Will he go down the tubes like others before him who made promises they couldn’t keep? Will he struggle and sink into the Washington quagmire? Is he just another slick politician? I certainly hope not; but now he will be our president, so why can’t we take a deep breath and try to support him as newest best hope.
TG – I am not angling for an invite to the party; but, as may be obvious, I’ve been saving up for a long time. I have declined to engage in the political fray. I left “the other site” because of the vitriol. I saw no point in arguing with my fellow Imus fans on this site as (IMO) we really have more in common than not; but at this point, I have a request for all. Why don’t we give this guy a chance? If you disagree with some policy or bill he brings up, do it the old fashioned way – deluge him, your congressional representatives and the internet with your opinions. (Does this sound familiar? 4/07?) Support him in the ways you can, question him in the ways you can’t. Call him on it if his swagger gets out of step with the country’s needs AND show the class that John McCain has shown in defeat. Let us all be fully prepared to support JMac every time he names the names on pork and ask him to fulfill his promise and to help Barrack fulfill his to cross the aisle and do what is best for this country.
For those of you who troubled to read my catharsis, thank you for your patience.

As you yourself said you drank the koolaid. Well you should have stopped drinking the koolaid and paid better attention.
Your 401k could be big brothers soon.
In a nutshell, you turn your 401k over to the government. In return you get 3% return, $600 a year adjusted for inflation.
You are mandated to deposit 5% of your gross income.
No more matching employer, no more pretax dollars. Gee the government has done so well with social security, sounds like a good idea.
http://www.investmentnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081012/REG/310139971
The market is plunging. They expected Obama to dump his class-warfare junk after he won. When he didn’t, the selloff began. Now the Obama recession is in full swing.
Bring on the 65% tax rate for these idiots that voted for Obama.
His first 100 days will probably look something like this. Mostly legislation that will be detrimental to the economy. He plans on destroying the coal industries with his fines and regulations. Since he really has no clue what he is doing, I suspect our utility bills to more than double. Knee jerk environmental legislation with very little thought to the consequences. Oh, and lets not forget the Fairness Doctrine. Silence the opposition, that’s just great.
The town where I live pays our teachers, on an average, $70,000 to $100,000 per year. Seems like a very generous salary to me, considering when I started it was about $20,000. As for educating our teachers, I paid for my own education, didn’t expect the public to pay for it. Believe me, most teachers realize this is a great job, with great pay and benefits.
Do keep in mind that Obama’s margin was what 52/47. not very big.
The Dems are big on handouts, they invented the welfare state! I don’t understand where you are getting your information. They are the tax and spend liberals, big government. How come welfare has failed so miserably? It doesn’t work!
mtnherbal
As for vitriol on “the other site” may I remind everyone here that there have been some rather nasty, if not down-right mean posts plastered on here. This site and its members are not immune to showing their hatred, especially for a sitting President. Should we therefore afford the same treatment to our next President?
See post 136.

Re: 143
And the rivers are rising in Washington State with serious flooding.
How could Obama let this happen?
What will he do to prevent this in the future?
Aha! I knew you were out there. Thanks for the posts. I still like to read what you are all thinking, even you goiman. I am not able to predict the future as well as you, but as mtnherbal so eloquently stated: Keep your elected representatives on the hook. There is also a new web site http//change.gov in case you would like to share some of your ideas with the new team in town. They are asking for our expertise. The best “change” I can think of for our government is for us to know what is going on, day AND night.
I always appreciate Imus humor, Ree!
I so enjoyed Imus this morning. I love Taibbi and agree Obama will have to spend a couple of years disproving the
“misinformation” (lies) circulated about him and his family.
In defense of George W. Bush: No one wanted him to succeed more than we did. As governor, he was a harmless enough fellow here. Texas Governors are on a pretty tight leash; don’t have to work too hard-just tell us what we want to hear. As I recall he had a great amount of support all over the country for the first few years. The events over the last 6 years, however, have made his weaknesses way too obvious to hide. Had he had a different group of advisers, he might not be leaving office as such an outcast, but they were of his own choosing. I will not blame the economy on him. I think the 1980’s set us up for what we are experiencing now. No one would have changed anything as long as it was working. It’s broke now; back to the drawing board. We will figure it out, again. I am hoping President Bush is leaving office a wiser man-he will have demons to face. That is the best I can do-I will not think of him again.
If Obama were coming in after Clinton, I would probably be more cynical as I was furious with Bill for embarrassing my generation and my country with his indiscretions, but the enormity of our problems now are going to prompt me to wait for awhile to see what happens. There is a need for some extraordinary leadership which might not be so popular. Frankly, we have no choice but to see it through.
As an aside, I never broke $60,000 with a master’s degree and 30 years in teaching and I live in a very affluent area west of Houston. Science is my area, so that is another chord Obama struck with me.
Gee, does his “change” include filling his administration with Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois as his chief of staff? He is a former Clinton senior advisor who is mean-spirited and likes to destroy people. I guess Emanuel can do BO’s dirty work without having BO’s fingerprints all over it.
Yeah, this is change you can believe in!! 🙂
Rep. Rahm Emanuel held paid position on troubled GSE’s board from 2000-2002, when Freddie Mac was accused of accounting and campaign finance irregularities.
He’s President-elect Barack Obama’s new chief of staff, according to various Nov. 6 media reports, but Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., also has some baggage pertaining to the financial crisis. Will anyone in the media take note?
Emanuel, who was a senior adviser for former President Bill Clinton throughout the 1990s, was appointed to the board of Freddie Mac upon his departure from the Clinton administration.

Welcome to wealth redistribution. The other half went to the schmuck on the corner who didn’t do jack-all. This is who you voted for it. Enjoy.
Hey San Francisco is three for three, what is going on in the city by the bay? Not that I am complaining, first Code Pink cleared out of Berkeley, then SF voted down naming a sewage plant after a sitting President of the U.S.A., and now they are changing their minds about J.R.O.T.C.
Alrighty SF big thumbs up. Welcome back to the Union. Big Grin!

Goodbye America
Hand over your paycheck and your 401(k) to the Social Security Administration. Oh, and hand in your guns too.
It’s been nice knowing you Comrades. Just wanted to say that before this forum is taken off the web by Obama’s censors.
How long ago did I say “WE’RE SO SCREWED!”?
McCain served his country well before he decided to be McMaverick, but waited until it was WAY TOO LATE to actually put up a fight against Obama.
Shit, this country is f-ing done. We owe our kids an apology. No, Senator Reach-Across-The-Aisle and Trent Lott owe our kids an apology for trying to get along with Democrats. When we needed more Harry Hydes, we got Trent Lott and Senator Bi-Partisan.
I hope everyone enjoyed voting in the U.S.’s last free elections–those will be gone in 2010. We won’t be allowed to complain about it and talk radio will be gone by the end of February.
Oh, and enjoy $12.00/gallon gasoline. That’ll be here by March.
Pessimism? Who me?
Mtnherbal wrote:”Perhaps it is time for us to again become our brothers’ keepers; to make an attempt to educate our children; to bring our poor out of poverty, not by handouts, but by handsup.”
You are so right mtnherbal, and it’s especially time for Mr. Obama to be his brothers’ keeper.
Ginger
He has left his brother in a hut in Kenya, and and aunt who lives in public housing in Boston illegally. Boy, talk about being your brothers keeper. He could bring his brother out of poverty with a $100 bill, yet he chooses to leave him in Kenya! Wow, says a lot. BTW, whatever happen to the funeral for his grandmother who just past away?
All – I’ve got my panties in a wad. In my attempt to post a conciliatory opinion, I apparently raised the ire of some folks. What follows is a too long, point by point response to what I perceived as a stronger than necessary personal attack. Since I don’t have any other forum to iron my panties, I am taking up space here. Unless you’re into sarcasm, just scroll on by.
Goiman,
As I pointed out, I have avoided the political discussion because I do not believe that I can change other’s opinions just because mine differs. I do not intend to start now. The point of my post was to ask for support for the efforts of OUR GOVERNMENT, not just Obama, in their quest to remedy the ails that we are currently experiencing. I did make an error (as I reread it) in my post in that I mentioned Hannity and Bilbo when I actually meant to spread the wealth. Freudian, maybe; however, put Olbermouth at the top of that list and some of those screamers on Air America close behind.
That being said, I am going to indulge myself by giving you a few facts and more opinion:
I was paying attention. I have followed this election very closely and was very much on the fence until McCain went off the rails. I am very fiscally conservative and was very afraid Obama would spend us into oblivion. That is no longer an issue since we have already sold our soul to China and bankrupted the country with this unfortunate but necessary bailout of Wall Street.
My employer does not match my 401K. He did away with the 401K because of the liability of the regulations. Obama did not destroy my 401 K or my IRA; but hopefully he can, with the aid of our nation’s brain trust, restore it before my soon to be retirement date.
***I AM NOT AN IDIOT. I do not believe in name calling and if you can find a post where I have done such, I will be glad to retract the statement, publicly apologize, and subject myself to spaghetti flogging on Times Square. The fact that I am joined with 63,000,000 in my vote (by the by, a majority) suggests that you think this country is comprised of more than 50% idiots.
I am not going to address your policy projections. Even though I do possess ESP, I do not wish to share my knowledge with those who consider me to be an idiot; also, it has obviously been tired lately as I got back into the market too soon.
If you are so inclined, please advise where you live. My excellent (he has consistently defeated leaving children behind), underpaid teacher brother might want to move. By the way, he paid his own way through college and graduated with his teaching degree at the age of 35. I did not suggest that you or anyone else should pay for teacher education, only that I would like to see them properly trained and compensated.
Forget the electoral college. It is what got us in the mess we’re in now. 52/47 may not seem like a very big margin to you, but it is higher than 50% of the results since WWII.
GHW Bush was the last to win with more than 50%.
Of course giving people something for nothing does not work. I could not agree with you more that our “welfare system” is a shambles. IMO, Obama agrees with the both of us.
Consider the difference between handsout and handsup. Or maybe we should just cut off all the checks, let those who can’t survive starve or freeze to death and get this country cleaned up and off to a new start.
I find this site to be populated by intelligent, thinking and caring people. Yes, sometimes folks get excited, but I have yet to see pages and pages of repeated garbage and relatively few hateful attacks on folks just because their opinions differ.(See ***above). I chose not to subject myself to nasty comments “over there” and eventually not to waste my time reading the sameo, sameo. There were some folks I enjoyed chatting with, but it became not worth the effort.
I do not personally know Rahm Emanuel. I assume you must since you are so able to characterize him. What I do personally know is that he has enlisted CONSERVATIVE democrats to rejoin our govt and was able to bring some of the south back to the party.
That is not only smart politics; it shows a willingness to include a wide range of people and ideas in the operation of our govt. (almost as good as having a split). It is also why I think we should wait and give this a chance before we condemn this congress as a bunch of do-gooder, giveaway, spendthrift liberals.
I do not pretend to understand the intricacies of President Elect Obama’s complicated family. It is really none of my business. However, I do find criticism of his grieving process offensive. It was reported there would be a service at a later date. How rude of his grandmother to die at such an inappropriate time. The woman is dead, her husband is dead, his mother is dead, his father is dead; he said his goodbyes and now he has chosen to focus on what he believes to be best for his country. This is the reason I don’t discuss politics – people sometimes just lose their perspective.
Well said, and well done once again, mtnherbal. If the sound of applause seems muted …consider where you are …or is it merely the sound of one hand clapping?
Thank you, Mike……umumumumumumumumumumumum.

This is some insight into who Emanuel is above link, he is out of Chicago. That is who is in charge of the Country now- Chicago. They used minorities to get elected. I don’t believe Big Oil or any other huge corportation cares if it is a Democrat or a Republican, on their gravy train. If people are so naive to believe that there is going to be a change in Washington D.C., well maybe I envy you that ablity, I don’t possess. Barack Obama the Agent of Change, is filling his upcoming Administration up, with many ex Clinton people including Emanuel. This isn’t Change, this is Bill Clinton’s 3rd term.

Talk about being defensive! I truly will not go point by point with suffice to say read. read, read. There is plenty of information concerning Rahm Emanuel for you to find out what he is all about. I have found most Obama supporters could explain in emotional terms only why they voted for him. My conclusion was that this election was not won on logic but on personality.

Obama has never in his life ever been held to any standard of decency, humility, or honor. He’s a Chicago thug-politician, and you aren’t going to take a Chicago thug-politician, put him into the White House, and expect him to be “presidential.”
He’s a PUNK. Have any of you seen video of him giving the middle-finger while talking about Hillary during the primary season, and then again to McCain just prior to the election (pretending to be scratching his face with it in the meantime). Barack Obama is a graceless PUNK. That is who he is, and that is who our president is–a PUNK.

I’m tired of the bashing of President Bush. I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? I The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? I pray to God this next President will do the same. I just don’t see how.

venividivici2u, President Bush has taken on the burden of the presidency. He has had a full plate set before him..overwhelming really. What does he get for it? Mostly abuse and disrespect. I think I must be one of the few left who respect him, but I do respect him and I wish him the best, and I thank him for making keeping us safe a priority.
Mr. Obama gets to inherit this “hallowed” position now. Let’s see what he looks like physically and mentally in 4 years. And yes, let’s see what his ratings are at the end of his first term.
Are the Hitleresque rallies over with? God, I hope so.
Yes, I saw the middle finger to Hillary and McCain. I also saw him brush Hillary off his shoulders like she was dandruff, and also, well you know, “she’s likeable enough.”
Letter to Editor..Beware Charismatic Men who Preach ‘Change’
Perhaps you have seen this letter, but I thought it was worthy of passing along…Sorry for instilling fear, but it does cause one to stand up and take notice.
July 7, 2008
Beware Charismatic Men Who Preach ‘Change’
Editor, Richmond Times-Dispatch:
Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America’s. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.
On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.
I’ve thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.
When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said “Praise the Lord.” And when the young leader said, “I will be for change and I’ll bring you change,” everyone yelled, “Viva Fidel!”
But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I’m back to the beginning of my story.
Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?
Would we?

The New Team
Jamie S. Gorelick
By ERIC LICHTBLAU
As he prepares to take office, President-elect Barack Obama is relying on a small team of advisers who will lead his transition operation and help choose the members of a new Obama administration. Following is part of a series of profiles of potential members of the administration.
Name: Jamie S. Gorelick
Being considered for: Attorney general
Would bring to the job: A wide-ranging Washington résumé that spans corporate, legal and national security affairs. Ms. Gorelick (pronounced Guh-REH-lick) was the No. 2 official at the Justice Department in the Clinton administration, from 1994 to 1997, and if chosen would be the second woman to be named attorney general, following her former boss, Janet Reno. Ms. Gorelick would also bring corporate experience to an Obama administration at a time of financial crisis.

WTH?? Experience at a time of financial crisis?! Shocked She helped cause the financial crisis at FNMA! She has nothing to offer but poor guidance and greed.

He named Jennifer Granholm, the governor of Michigan, the state that she drove into a recession with her high tax policies long before the rest of the country had problems, to his economic planning team?? is this a joke??
The 10 most poverty stricken cities in the nation have ALL been run by Democrats for many years. Anyone who thinks that a Dem POTUS is strong on the economy, has not done one bit of research on this. The sheeple elect Obama, and say his economic policies looked better, but all this time, the money gurus have been stating emphatically that Obama’s plans will rape the job market and present a burden on main street America.

Never mind that he’s not actually the president yet:

Where is Channel? Is there a problem?
Bruce
I got an email from ChannelX he is fine just taking a break.
Laree, Maybe ChannelX is recuperating from the devastating loss that some of us experienced last week — understandable!
Thanks Ree…
I read that “There are whispers out of the Big Apple that Imus’ right-hand man producer Bernie McGuirk will move into Sliwa’s old slot on WABC but that’s unconfirmed.”
The article (or snippet, actually) was about Curtis Sliwa, but had that one sentence about Bernie at the end. It’s here: http://bostonradiowatch.blogspot.com:80/
Deidre’s got a new book in her series coming out next month… “The Essential Green You.” Can be pre-ordered at Amazon.
Oops – typo – “Deirdre” 🙂
Hello All,
Stepped out of the country for a few days avoiding the election hubris. Funny how the Europeans approach the election read a column comparing Barack to FDR with the author calling for decisive action, New Deal II!
Also the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi commenting on Obama said “He’s young, handsome, and even has a good tan.” The PM said anyone criticizing him or calling for an apology are “imbeciles, ” saying his comment was meant to be “cute.” The French jumped right in with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Firrst Lady of France said she is glad to have become French!
Walter Veltroni the leader of the center- left party in Italy. In a minor blow-up Veltroni said it would be a good idea to throw a big celebration for Obama and claimed he would speak for Obama. As my friend explained to me “Italian politicians will speak for a fruit bowl”. Celebration was scuttled.
Persons approached us with congratulations on having a new “boss”.
Reading through the comments, had thought StDoms Girl would be doing a jig and Donald Inks would own a shoe store by now. (JK!)
Sarah Palin should show go on Imus in the Morning.

Welcome back Channel…. The Site missed you.
ThanX Bruce..
Imus has the GM “Bailout” figured out. The company wants the US to put up some huge amount of cash so they can continue meet astronomical overhead costs and produce cars no one wants to buy!
Pickens description of what went down between GM management and the UAW 20 years ago is spot on. The union is always quick to point out management incompetence as the reason the companies are struggling. Taken into context a loaded average hourly rate for Detroit at $70 compared to the average hourly rate of $28 for auto companies in the south, the incompetence of management is in negotiating with the unions.
A condition for Congress in providing bridge financing should be labor’s agreement to an average rate of $35 (half of the current) to address the overhead issue. That means people who are not working in plants would be off the payroll, something the unions are not likely to agree to unless forced.
I bet the Automakers get the bail out because Nancy Pelosi is going to reward the Unions. They don’t even try to hide this stuff from us…what does that tell people?
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15536.html
It’s hard to believe that the US taxpayer will be funding UAW Pensions but that is the direction we are headed if the Democrats have their way.
US auto industry is ripe for a consolidation, in the words of Col Jack “If not now when?” As this “bailout” gets more coverage the public will develop greater awareness of the trouble these auto companies are in which will work against sales. Suspect the Detroit Auto companies would be well served to get this out of the way in the sooner the better way.
Some of this stuff being written about the auto industry is stupid beyond belief. Numbers like 1 in 10 people are employed by the auto industry makes it sound like the industry will go away if one or all of the Detroit companies go the bankruptcy route. Post bankruptcy The US will still need autos and the companies in bankruptcy will continue to produce autos which will be sold, serviced, insured etc.
A lot of industries have hit the skids leaving with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation responsible for those pensions. Why would auto workers be entitled to protections beyond what the normal US worker receivest
Welcome home Channel – you were missed!!
From my understanding, the electoral college votes are not officially counted until early December.
In the meantime, Bo could be disqualified.
It won’t happen, of course. Can you imagine if he were disqualified..? utter chaos.
It’s just a thought, that’s all.
Ginger
Nancy Pelosi is third in line let us pray that Barack Obama’s inaugral goes off with no hitches. If for no other reason so this woman gets no closer to the Presidency. Talk about Chaos, look what she has managed to do just sitting in the House Leadership.

“Who is John Galt?”
Since everyone across the country is repeating the phrase, “Who is John Galt?”, it is natural that many people have attempted to answer that question. The phrase becomes an expression of helplessness and despair at the current state of the novel’s fictionalised world. Dagny Taggart hears a number of legends of Galt before finding the real John Galt and eventually joining his cause, and learning that all of the stories have an element of truth to them.
WHO IS JOHN GALT?
An interesting article on RFD-TV and its founder …now I know why Imus gets along so well with this guy.
http://money.cnn.com/2008/11/07/smallbusiness/rfdtv.fsb/index.htm
Pat Buchanan got a few things upside down this AM.
First, If one or more car companies goes the bankruptcy route it doesn’t mean the company goes away. Actually means the company continues to operate as goes through a reorganization.
Second, US auto companies can reduce their labor costs and still pay the workers the same rates they are paid now, simply by removing laid off workers from the payroll.
Third, Retirees should see minimal to no effect since GM for instance claims its retired health and pension plans are fully funded.
Fourth, How is it helpful to establish a tariff for non-US car companies to level out the labor agreements which pay people for not working? BTW a number of the 1 in 10 workers are employed by foreign auto companies. Tariffs on foreign cars will effect these workers as well.
At least I didn’t hear any shoe’s dropping…
Hey I can’t believe I’m asking this but where is skiwolf? I miss my former neighbor and our usual banter back and forth. Hope he doesn’t stay away too long!!
Come back to visit skiwolf :0)

Imus has fallen off the top 25 talk stream live. I think it is a mistake to ignore internet traffic. In fact they should take advantage of webcasting besides podcasting, what would hold it up? They need Exposure raise their visiabilty. New Media is the future.

I love Blue Grass Music, They used to have a Blue Grass Festival in Lolo, Montana a Tavern out in the middle of no where, going towards Idaho…they had a $5 cover charge that was all day, and all the draft beer you could drink. They called it the Full Moon Festival. That was in the Rockies, that is not where Blue Grass orginated but it did flourish.

Ree, I’ve been checking out the talkstreamlive link–interesting..thanks

Something awful is happening over at our sister group. Someone please correct these idiots before I lose it.
Channel, PTBartman anyone. Just clear this up please.
“Ain’t that a shame”…..:) That Lou!
Hey! Bernie on a split screen this AM. Cool.
Did Dick Cavett cause a problem this morning? I had to leave for work before the end of the interview and apparently the n word came up. Did anyone hear it?
Texas Girl,
Dick Cavett used the “N” word in context quoting someone with George McGovern. It was not directed at anyone.
I am not sure what you see on TV since I only receive it on the stream. But it is nice to see Bernie on a split screen. No mention was made of it by Imus.
Thanks, Bruce. They used the split screen again today to show some of the staffers whom Imus was railing against. It is larger than a normal split. I hope they use it more often. Maybe trying it out for the future?
What I guess I was really asking was if there was any reaction from Karith or Tony with regards to
Cavett’s explanation of the n word’s derivation. Anybody?
texasgirl,
They were just expressing concern about the media monitors. They understood Dick Cavett’ s point in context.
But as Karith said, they have this goal to stay on air at least till Dec 3rd, that would make a year milestone. A joke but they were there when the Pac Man Jones controversy happened. They know stuff gets taken out of context on purpose. They still feel they are under the microscope, it makes entertaining people difficult. When you have to watch every little word you use. Compare that to Joe Scarborogh, his ratings went up they say after Oprah mentioned him on her show…that is after he dropped the F Bomb. Is that the new order? Everyone takes their cues from Oprah? Sounds dumb doesn’t it.
Phil Griffin explains how the news works.
http://chickaboomer.blogspot.com/2008/11/how-did-msnbc-phil-griffin-get-to-tv.html
This is the Dick Cavett Interview pod cast. I have not listened to the podcast version. I was watching RFD TV when Cavett used slang terms in context..he wasn’t bleeped, here is the thing, the show is on a delay, they could have censored his language bleeped it out on the radio too.
http://www.wabcradio.com/Article.asp?id=991756&spid=22807
Thanks, Laree. I did not get to hear it all until you put it up and I guess I am paranoid too. Sheesh!
Thought I heard Imus mention a soon to be website for the program this morning. Interesting.
And Bernie on split screen, high ad rev….love it when a plan comes together.
Charles McCord launching the news at 5 am is a great idea. When Imus was on the FAN the program would start @ 5:30 with Charles doing a news update and an interview from the day before thrown in. That’s about the time I’m headed to the gym. Curtis has been fine but I was missing Charles in the earlier time slot. McCord on at 5 am gives me a little more incentive to get up early and head out to the gym on cold winter mornings.
On a less positive note, I think I’ll be passing on the opportunity to see Karith on Oprah. “Gag me with a spoon” is a saying that will reveal my age.
I’m praying for 12/3/2008 to see if she had a one year contract. However, I fear she’ll be with us. Major bummer!
What will Karith and Oprah have to talk about hmmmm…..
I don’t see how Oprah’s position on Imus Firing, can be left out of the discussion? Imus and CBS have that settlement agreement btw them. The non disparaging clause. Imus has CBS folks on his program like Jeff Greenfield and others…Oprah’s program is broadcasted on CBS…That might end up being an interesting discussion btw Karith and Oprah. I would watch the segment just to see how Oprah responds given Imus’s settelment agreement with CBS. Seems like they have a common interest…Oprah is having a cast member of Imus in the morning on her program. Remember she mentioned Mourning Joe on her show, and their ratings went up. How interesting.
In a two-part program dedicated to exploring female sexuality, I am having trouble seeing how Imus comes up at all. Eagerly waiting to hear.
I heard the website reference too. Changes in the works for 2009? I can believe in that.
texasgirl,
I think it will come up introducing Karith Foster, when she comes on the program. Would Oprah just introduce her as a comedian, and not mention what she is currently doing? Oprah wouldn’t give her a plug?
Yeah that will be on my agenda. Gagith and Gagrah discussing female sexuality.
Skiwolf,
Karith herself has term for it, TMI too much information. There are things I want to remain a mystery.
The only mystery I want resolved is when is Karith, Gag Me With A Spoon, going to be gone from the show?
Perhaps texasgirl can help with that question? LOL!
Isn’t Karith from Texas? Naw – can’t be that obvious can it?
Although the writing is good —- grammar is good. Naw she can’t be that dumb to be so obvious? Well just a thought.
Would be pretty damn funny though.
Sorry to disappoint, skiwolf. Karith’s mother, I believe, lives in the Plano area. I don’t know if she grew up in that area or not, but it would fit in with the Cosby family description of her childhood. Sorry you don’t like her. I like her, but think she is being underused. The woman that did the gossip spot on the old show had more input. She and Tony are simply shields to me and I can live with them. I don’t want the I-Man in any more battles without the proper armor. He pretty much has a resident everything now.
