I-Fav, To Fast Until End of Nation’s Economic Crisis
Dick Gregory, 76, world famous activist, author, lecturer and comedian, appeared on the radio and television shows of Don Imus … this morning and made an historic announcement in connection with what he called “the inexcusable crisis of humanity in connection with the tragic state of the this country’s economy as a result of the past eight years of greed, arrogance and fear-mongering,” Gregory said. During today’s program Dick Gregory mentioned how terrible Government Cheese is. Wondering what Govt Cheese tastes like? Imagine an artificial substitute for Velveeta Cheese, that’s Govt Cheese. Of course preparing a grill cheese sandwich increases the edibility of the product, as long as you have a little Govt Oleo and bread. No bread no problem, just spread some mustard on a slice of that cheese product and enjoy!
Back when my little bros and I would dine on Govt Cheese there was no Internet so we did not have access to all the wonderful ideas for preparing G-Cheese. Amazingly Kraft alone has 136 recipes in their Velveeta Featured Recipes!!!
From The Desk Of X
Mr. Gregory, while fasting maybe you could pen a letter to the President Obama and ask him to revise the mark to market rule, crack down on credit swaps as well as other forms of derivatives, end naked shorts and stop Fannie and Freddie from handing out mortgages to people who can’t afford them. That would make this Govt Cheese eater feel better anyway. ChanX

Those particular issues were being addressed even before you got to your desk to pen your loquacious note to Mr. Gregory.
We all know what happened. Let’s not allow it to happen again. 😉
As far as the New York Stock Exchange, and Wall Street in general…I am reminded of this particular quote from a pretty damn good movie:
“This town needs an enema!”
Will repeat this from the previous thread:
“The “top 10 %” of the most wealthy made their wealth off of the “bottom 90%”
Interesting Donald: Now how would one person or Corporation make a very good profit making the President and/or CEO of said Corporation wealthy?
Paying the employees the same income they are making? This is not how I understood the free market.
There will always be the Wealthy. There will always be the Middle Class. Professionals or hard working Blue Collar workers.
There will always be the poor. Why do you say are they poor? Because they are lazy and have lived off the Government so long, what’s the point of working hard.
These are my opinions and is a reflection of what President Obama is trying to do. Take from the Wealthy and give to the alleged poor. And by doing that the people in the middle are going to suffer.
A Welfare State is a poor Country.
If Dick Gregory can put a human face on the suffering, God Bless Him. God Bless Him either way.

Donald, Aforementioned issues have not been resolved. Addressed? barely. Resolved? not by a long shot. X
White House Greed Will Help, Really? I thought Greed Was The Problem.

Ok, I will rephrase that particular statement a few don’t or cannot seem to grasp…
“top 10 %” of the most wealthy made their wealth off of the “bottom 90%” of the rest of American people.”
That is a better way to put it, and dispute it as you may…
What it MEANS is, well…the top 10% of the wealthiest people, and corporations…made their profits and extreme wealth on the rest of the 90% of the country!
Not no hard to fathom, or comprehend. 😉

Hey Bruce…there was a reason Carlin and Lewis Black are so successful…
…much of their “comedy” is based on simple facts that everyone knows, yet doesn’t particularly care to think about. They have a way of doing that for us, and making us laugh at ourselves for not admitting certain truths or facts, and coming to grips with them.
It’s “good” therapy. Much needed in these times. 🙂

No Bruce. You are reading what I posted completely wrong.
Would I expect a janitor, a health care worker or a factory assemblymen to make as much as there boss?
Hell no.
I’m talking of the huge disparity of wealth at the very top that dwarfs infinitesimally what “average Americans” make for a livelihood.
For example: the old rule that has permeated the upper echelon of corporate America, rewards imbeciles with huge bonuses, multimillion salaries, and top stock options…regardless of performance.
Are you paid in that same manner?
I think not. You would be found unemployed real fast and walking down the street talking to yourself.
Add the imbecilic idea that these same idiots HAVE to be treated financially in this particular manner because if they weren’t, corporations would lose “good talent”.
Really. Such great talent that decisions from their top perches in the hierarchy caused many a business to wind up in bankruptcy, or on the Government dole to keep them solvent?

“as much as there boss?”
Sorry, THEIR boss. 🙂
Hey Donald, Here’s some of those 10%ers. Unfortunately for taxpayers the rainmakers are leaving banks the US has invested in.
“Unfortunately for taxpayers the rainmakers are leaving those banks the US has invested in. ”

As well they should. If they had any scruples (and obviously many of them do have them) they are moving into “legitimate financially run banks”, and leaving the incompetents to suffer their own demise. 😉
P.S. Yes, “unfortunately for taxpayers”…yet the trend is a good one.
I don’t blame them one iota. There are many “respected and honorable” people in the corporate business sector that are “sick to their stomach” over what has happened. I commend them for doing the right thing, and leaving the despicable and unconscionable bastards that wrought this mess to their own end.
It happened, it never should have…we all (all Americans ) are on the hook for their mismanagement and incompetence… but their time is coming to a close. I hope.
Chanx:
One last thought…
I am NOT against “Big Business”, Capitalism, nor honest management of corporations in pursuit of whatever profits they can achieve. That is what keeps us ALL working.
One would have to look back, in hindsight…and admit: this was not Capitalism’s finest, nor most honorable hour.
According to Allan Sniffen at the New York Radio Message Board (http://www.musicradio77.com/wwwboard/), Sid Rosenberg has lost his job at “The Ticket” in Miami. I wonder if we’ll be hearing more of Sid on Imus.

P.S.
I do not make money on this. If I were to make money on this form of sending audio I would need 1 Million Downloads to to make $50.00
Pretty funny considering that number.
Remember when everyone was blogging what a great idea it is to limit the pay of bankers the govt loaned money to, after all where are they going to go?
Well we have the answer as to where the producers go. Turns out some go across the street and others just go and sit at home!
“Rainmakers” walking out the doors of these banks is not a good trend. The US Govt has loaned these banks $10s of billions of dollars meaning the taxpayer has an interest in the success of the banks.
IMO, Rainmaker exits increases the level of difficulty for repaying the bailout loans to the US taxpayer.
BTW: It’s easy to see investors taking cash out of banks which canceled Los Vegas conferences (for example) and instead moving assets to banks which sponsor conferences. Once again adding to the difficulty of repaying those loans.
As I recall Romney was the only Rainmaker running in the last election and he had been a Governor, and he had ran a business….hmmm hindsight is 20/20.
My husband blames Huckabee for blocking Romney. I think Imus blames Huckabee for not getting out of the way sooner so John McCain could get a jump on the National Campaign.
