Imus To Put New Program Director To The Test!

laurie-cantillo

Laurie Cantillo WABC Program Director

Imus and Bernie met with Laurie Cantillo, the new boss yesterday.   She informed Imus that he can take more chances because he now has station management which will back him up!  Imus’ response?  Basically told her the only two people at the company he distrusted more then her were her bosses!

That’s what Imus said but is it my imagination or did Bernie play a bigger role in the program today.  RFD had a shot of Bernie doing his producer thing, kissing the I-butt.  He had a great big smile on that irish mug, like we haven’t seen since before the troubles.

Imus said he is going to see if  Laurie meant what she said, declaring the Cardinal returns tomorrow!

Ironic Armor

The latest Imus question goes like this, “When will white comedians begin to make fun of Obama?”  The thought is race is too controversial and Obama’s election too historic to be made fun of.  The New York Times explores this very topic in a piece by Andy Newman “Irony Is Dead. Again. Yeah, Right.”.  Newman  advances the question regarding comedy, citing sources such as Joan Didon whom he credits as “the nation’s poet laureate of disillusion”… (more…)

When is a Metrosexual a pussy and when is a fathead a fathead?

According to 1050 ESPN program director Aaron Spielberg, Imus ripped the ESPN morning show, “Mike and Mike,” in terms ESPN believed crossed a line from legitimate criticism to “off-color” personal attacks.  Turns out ESPN promotes Mike & Mike in terms similar to the Imus commentary.

CHANX CliffsNotes on Dick Gregory’s Comments

Race in America:
You want a some young women and a whole lot of concubines?  Just go to Texas and join that Mormon Cult.  They’re getting welfare, food stamps for those children.  No one is complaining.  Let that happen in a Black Church and see what happens!

I’m so glad at Obama!  You White folks better be glad I’m not running and you Black folks too.  I wouldn’t hire anything but can’t read, can’t write Negroes. Because you White folks with your cabinets and PHDs done messed up the whole planet.  LET ME TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT! (more…)

Citizen journalist Faye Anderson is another example of someone who takes Media Matters’ viewpoint as gospel. She writes in a recent post:

Fortunately, Media Matters monitors “Imus in the Morning.” So, I don’t have to start my day with morning sickness. (more…)

David Letterman clip recommended by Cavett this morning…

Cavett, anagram genius, also notes that “Don Imus” rearranges to—get this—“I’m Sound.”

Pretty cool.

Interesting to see the old comrades at each other’s throats. Great update from FishbowlDC on the most recent interchanges:

The Hillary campaign recently took MSNBC reporter David Shuster (and MSNBC generally) to task for asking a guest on February 7th’s “Tucker” program, “[D]oesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?” MSNBC has suspended Shuster for his remarks.

[…]

Clinton said that her staff had sent her “some independent study” “which seemed to suggest that” “in terms of the fairness of the coverage,” Fox News Channel has treated her campaign more fairly than MSNBC. (more…)

Good to see these points coming out, and as an added benefit, we get to watch Chris Matthews squirm in embarrassment as he grows up. (The entire way he has been covering this campaign is racist and sexist. The primary statistic is who is or isn’t carrying each group, and it has reached levels bordering on insanity, because it’s so obvious and yet he persists.)

The women’s movement is about free choice, self-determination and challenging a status quo that fails a lot of Americans, not just women. And it is not about going along. It’s about transcending, about having the freedom to follow one’s heart, about creating and pursuing new opportunities, and about the American dream being for all Americans. (more…)
