WFAN host Craig Carton's long march after losing bet with Boomer Esiason

Craig Carton dressed in a Giants’ jersey and speedos after losing an on air bet with Boomer Esiason.

Imus cheap shots continuuue .  This from some New York Daily News sports columnist who hasn’t caught on to the fact the FAN is in a pickle having lost Imus and Russo.  By the way the narrow demographic Filip marginalizes here happens to be the one that buys books, autos and  just about anything Imus is selling and breaking all time sales records at WABC.  Would the FAN like to see a little bit of that green? You Betcha..

As for Boomer being “the most pleasant listens on talk radio” myself I can’t even listen to him on the CBS NFL program much less on the radio, You Know…

Rutgers Basketball Players missing Imus? at least people are still talking about the players and don’t forget Vivian Stringer had some strong book sales in 2008!

Anybody Miss Imus? The Daily Blahg

Filip Bondy, New York Daily News Blogs

Somewhere, on some radio station that has nothing to do with sports, Don Imus and his leering crew are surely droning on about stuff. His ratings are good enough among a very narrow demographic, though nothing to brag about.

And in the world of sports, where he is no longer part of the dialogue, he is not missed at all. The absence of racist wisecracks is always a good thing. In some ways, this could not have worked out better. Imus is still doing his thing, and his fans can find him if they wish. He can raise funds for his charity work. Meanwhile, WFAN is a better station without him. Boomer Esiason is one of the most pleasant listens on talk radio.

Everybody wins. Except those Rutgers basketball players. Click|Here

David Hinckley a Daily News Columnist actually does know something about Television and Radio, this is what he has to say regarding the Iman…

Some old hands move into new jobs

David Hinckley, New York Daily News

On the air, Don Imus completed a triumphant first year as morning host at WABC – where he scored higher ratings than he had when he was fired by WFAN in 2007. WABC added “Imus News Hour,” 5-6 a.m., hosted by Charles McCord. Click|Here

Who are you going to believe, Filip the FANny Kissing sports columnist or the award winning Television/Radio critic journalist extraordinaire David Hinckley?

Imus Still Going One Year After the ‘Blacklash’

IMUS RETURNS

Jeff Bercovici reporting for Condé Nast on Imus’ Anniversary Show

Talking about the milestone this morning with Karith Foster and Tony Powell — two African-American comedians he brought on to insulate himself from charges of racism — the I-man fell prey to a wee Freudian slip, asking them if they had encountered any “blacklash” after throwing their lots in with him. (He quickly corrected himself.)

Bercovici also reported;

  • The Anniversary Show featured 1/2 hour sponsorships including appearances. (Explains that Audi Guy on-air, Imus seemed to be in love with his voice.)
  • There was an invitation only viewing party for the Imus family of advertisers at the Rainbow Studio.   (Explains the references to Imus’ “corpulent sales staff”.   Is anyone buying genius salesman Bob Gelb as being big boned?)
  • Imus is now on 50 Stations which is more then the 47 he was on with WFAN.  (Thought Imus crossed this threshold long ago.)
  • Morning Time slot is driving greater revenue then Curtis and Kuby had.  (No surprise) Read|More

ChanX CliffsNotes

Imus’ guest selection for the Anniversary Show (all power rotation guests) was superior.  Guests included Alexis Glick who is an Anchor and  Vice President of Business News at I-Sponsor FOX.  Political Pundit Mary Matalin who along with her husband James Carville were Imus stalwarts during the bad days.  Rounding out the guests on the big anniversary show was Comedian and Social Commentator Dick Gregory, who has become an I-Fav over the past year.

Imus read a touching email to the entire cast from Carol Foster congratulating the Imus program on the one year anniversary.  Carol is Karith’s mother and a member of the NABJ .  K-Mom noted how surprised she was by the number of her friends who listen to and commented on the program to her.

Imus: Ifill, Making A Career Out Of A Lie!

Howark Kurtz appearing on Imus discusses Govenor Sarah Palin and the upcoming Vice Presidential debate. In a “Pokomoko!” moment Howard asserts Govenor Palin will have a major test when she faces Gwen Ifill as the debate moderator.  Two words “GWEN IFILL” were enough for Imus…

ChanX CliffsNotes

Imus: Gwen Ifill, the thing she said about me, is a liar!

Imus: She has made a career out of claiming I said something about her.  When I got fired, there was an idiotic editorial from the New York Times claiming I said something about her, which I never said, which I never said!

Imus: Nobody has ever produced a transcript.  Nobody has ever produced a piece of tape!

Imus: I am tired of Gewn Ifill trying to make a career out of being dishonest as she has been.  Claiming I said something I did not say, I did not say!

Imus: So lets hope she is more honest about the handling of this debate on Thursday then she was with me.  I don’t expect much from her….

A Different Tune for Imus

JACQUES STEINBERG; Compiled by JULIE BOSMAN

In the latest chapter of his comeback following the racially and sexually charged exchange that got him fired by CBS Radio and MSNBC last year, Don Imus, is taking on the role of impresario. On Sept. 16 New West Records plans to release “The Imus Ranch Record,” in which 13 artists selected by Mr. Imus — including Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakum and Patty Loveless — perform cover versions of songs chosen by Mr. Imus. Ms. Loveless, for example, sings “Silver Springs,” a Stevie Nicks song. Lucinda Williams sings “Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” which was made famous by Waylon Jennings. Big & Rich, however improbably, put their best spin on the Beastie Boys’ “You’ve Got to Fight for Your Right to Party.” Mr. Imus intends for the CD to benefit the Imus Ranch, which he and his wife, Deirdre, operate in New Mexico for the benefit of children with cancer and other diseases.

When is a Metrosexual a pussy and when is a fathead a fathead?

According to 1050 ESPN program director Aaron Spielberg, Imus ripped the ESPN morning show, “Mike and Mike,” in terms ESPN believed crossed a line from legitimate criticism to “off-color” personal attacks.  Turns out ESPN promotes Mike & Mike in terms similar to the Imus commentary.

ESPN Gives New York Broadcasting Legend Ultimatum
“Imus or Mike & Mike?”

1050 ESPN program director Aaron Spielberg said Friday the decision was made in the wake of on-air remarks by Imus Thursday in which he ripped the ESPN morning show, “Mike and Mike,” in terms ESPN believed crossed a line from legitimate criticism to “off-color” personal attacks.

Wolf was given the choice of staying with 1050 or Imus, and opted for the latter. He has a longstanding relationship with Imus, for whom he famously reported from near the site of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

As reported by Newsday’s Neil Best Read | More

This is the second time Warner had to choose between Imus and another gig. Last time Warner choose his WCBS TV gig. Imus In The Morning is way better for the sports legend. Doing local sports reports for Mike & Mike was nowhere for Warner. On Imus he has a larger audience and a much larger role commenting beyond sports.
