With WFAN’s firing of Imus, New York talk radio station WABC moved aggressively to add Imus to its lineup. Recently BIA Financial Networks released 2007 revenue rankings of New York radio stations, including both WFAN and WABC. No surprise to I-Fans, BIA results show WFAN revenues significantly dropping off on a year over year basis.
Comparing WFAN 2007 to WABC 2007 results provides the key to WABC’s programming move to Imus. Netting it out, Imus has the potential to double WABC results for 2008!
WFAN (660 AM) fired Don Imus in April 2007 and saw revenue drop $13 million for the year. Imus’ new home, WABC (770 AM), wants an Imus boost in 2008
Advertising ranking by revenue ($M) for 2007, (2006).
5. WFAN $37.5 ($50.6)
14. WABC $23.1 ($23.4)
Compiled by BIA Financial Network,
Source: DAVID HINCKLEY, New York Daily News
ChanX Notes:
- Impact to WFAN on an annualized basis is approximately $22.7M!
- WABC total revenue for 2007 is $23.1M!
- WABC results for 2007 is about WFAN’s annualized Imus loss!
- WABC results from 2006 to 2007 down $.3M! Wrong Direction!
- Should be no doubt – Citadel depending on Imus to improve results!
ChannelX,
How as Eric Deegans trys to frame it, that Imus being fired was a good thing? IT refreshed a tired program huh? Lost revenue, rating, jobs lost ect…Imus was not getting low ratings on MSNBC if anything starting the day for MSNBC he was hooking and keeping people watching for different programs on MSNBC. Blog below, How much twisting is involved for this kind of back patting? I bet he watches MSNBC 🙂
http://blogs.tampabay.com/media/2008/04/coincidence-of.html
My reply to Mr. Deggans
For all of NABJ and NOWs bluster Imus was the only major media personality impacted. Time-Warner, Fox, Citadel and other media outlets refused to buckle to the professionally outraged.
In January WFAN was extolling the arbitron results of the new morning program, Boomer and whoever. FAN said nothing about the financial hemoraging. CBS radio when announcing the results for 4Q07 results lumped all nYc radio properties together and proudly announced little to no drop off in revenue. BTW most of revenue was covered by program format changes to stations other then WFAN.
We now know the truth: Imus Rules, CBS Radio Drools!
LOOK WHAT YOU STARTED:
Anytime, Bruce. Anytime.

BRUCE ROCKS!
In the year since they found themselves in the national spotlight, all returned to Rutgers. They said they have not heard from Imus since their meeting in the immediate aftermath of the scandal, and coach Vivian Stringer dismisses questions about his return to the airwaves by saying he has a right to make a living.
Someone remind the coach of this when her book comes out 🙂
If he keeps talking about them, they keep getting associated with the media event, he is trying to leave them out of the spotlight so they can go back to doing what they do, I thought that was play basketball?
Ret Col Jack Jacobs on tomorrow right?

Reference Mr. Deggans:
I think the less we talk on his garbage site from this great State (YEA RIGHT) of Florida. The better off we will be.
He didn’t like what I said. So be it. Thus I told him I would be forwarding this to Mr. Imus.
Let’s see what he has to say now!!!!
Debra J Dickerson interviewed on Blogginheads TV talking about Race and Reconciliation Click | Here
She’s great!
I have been watching the Senate hearings Obama asked General Patraeus if we could leave a sloppy mess in Iraq and get by with that as a successful outcome 🙂 My husbands comment, Obama wants to turn Iraq into a ghetto!
So today Senator Levin called General Patraeus -Admiral and Senator Rockefeller thinks that John McCain used laser guided missles when he was a fighter pilot, fighting in Vietnam. Senator Levin doesn’t know that the commander in Iraq is a General and Senator Rockefeller doesn’t know what munitions the military uses to fight wars….and the players in the middle east are playing 3D chess and Obama still wants to play whack em all. Obama we should re deploy to Afghanistan where our real enemies are 🙂 that always makes me smile, our real enemies, that is sweet Senator Obama thinks, Bin Laden was kidding about Iraq being the center battle in the war on terror…what these folks don’t know, well it is alot.
I appreciate that Obama would be strong on the domestic front…but we need someone who can be both strong on the domestic and foreign front. How about somebody getting Obama better military and foreign policy advisors?
No one is moving off of the top of the third largest oil supply in the world, we have American Corps who signed contracts…At some point sooner then later somebody is going to have to level with the American People. What is the price of a barrell of oil right now? what happens if the Iraq oil fields are under protected…what happens to speculation on oil in the market then?
It is like they- the politicians, all take a corner of what is going on in Iraq and argue from one single vantage point, leaving all the other points out.
Bruce,
My response to Eric Deegan is Paul Simons “Love me like a Rock”
When I was grown to be a man and the devil would call my name I’d say who do – who do you think your foolin.
….indeed who does he think he’s foolin.
Bruce, Ree,
My response to Eric Deegan was to post a Carl Jeffers and a Douglas Blackmon appearance.
Eric wrote
My conclusion? Eric is locked in a past he fails to comprehend.
ChannelX,
Who else gets held up to this same standard Imus is being held to? Really has anyone suggested we hold Rev J Wright up to this standard? If Eric Deggans was creative he would blog about where we all have common ground. “Free Speech and Freedom of Expression is where everything overlaps.
Obama is starting the campaign of lowered expectations…could we leave a sloppy mess in Iraq and call it a success. Here is the thing if Obama is going to be the next President then the people around him advising him need to be the best not the ones that volunteered. Obama needs some talent in his corner. I thought they all were campaigning when they were questioning General Patraeus yesterday. People reading between the lines one of these folks is going to be Commander and Chief “Which one of the three is the Alpha” I really wish we could have a do over, I think the Media picked our choices for us…through skewed coverage.
Last night Bill O’Reilly said, this maybe one of the dirtiest political Presidential campaigns in the history of the country he compared it to when Andrew Jackson ran for President. I think this is true, this link is discussing the Bizarre attacks on McCain by the Dems. I have stated before attacking McCain on his strengths will cause people to compare him to his opponents…they will be found lacking. Neither Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama served in the U.S. Military but they want to be the Commander and Chief…they need to sound like they understand at least how the Military Works. Their proxys – surrogates are not helping, apparently they don’t have a working knowledge of the U.S. Military either. I noticed Hillary Clinton didn’t use her “suspension of disbelief” line yesterday. I guess she knows all about “misspeaking” and someone might compare those two remarks. One she made toward a decorated Army General, the other she used to explain her Bosnia sniper fire incident…so misspeaking when she has a faulty recall and “suspension of disbelief” when she was directing a comment to a commanding General with Troops in the field in a REAL shooting war. The Dems need to get their act together. Is this is what Obama means with his lowered expectations, could we leave a sloppy mess in Iraq and call it a success?
Could we be slighty sloppy on our leadership abilities here at home, defending some 300 million U.S. citizens? NO YOU CAN’T.
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/04/020254.php
Still scratching my head over the definition of a “sloppy mess”. Wondering what the rules of engagement would be for the sloppy mess withdrawal?
Levon was fabulous! and Lady Vols back to back!
A good day in the neighborhood.
Karith voice sounds a bit like a blended Betty Boop & Megan Malally – awful to hear Karith in the midst of the Imus Show. It’s especially awful to just HEAR it over the air-waves. eeeeeew!
StdomsGrl,
Karith is fine. She has a small childs voice when she doesn’t put herself in the bit she is doing.
Did you ever wonder how her stand up routines are like? She had to have some success for Imus to hire her.
So I say Karith adds not only the African/American perspective, but the female perspectiive. The balance is what Imus was after. And he got it.
No one questions the I-Man. No one!
I question the Iman as does any thinking person with an independent brain. Karith does suck, after all. Sad but true.
Does anyone know what I said before respectively to Stdomsgrl?
Read post 17 and tell me what I really said.
Don’t bother me with Brian from IT or any other mouth breather over there. Or this will become a long and drawn out duel.
Spread these Comedy skits Broadcast on the 8th and 9th of April

Comments and ratings are desired. But as I said. Put them on every site you belong to.
Funny I believe.
I have finally caught up with all my highlights from Imus.
This is all the important interviews that many can be found on WABC’s website. But added a finale that is funny.
If you are into the great Interviewing techniques of Imus and his excellent guests be prepared to spend about 51 minutes. You will learn much of many peoples insights on this Politically charged climate.
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2343838/7342892
Enjoy
I re-read post 17 and believe you said that Karith was fine, must have some talent or she wouldn’t be on the show, and that NOBODY questions Don Imus.
I think you figured it out djjack. You get a gold star.
Imus yesterday had said he was having meetings with advertisers to get WABC the $13M WFAN lost last year. Hope one of those meetings was with GMC.
Listening to Imus talk about the Radiothon sponsors reminds me of the old days. Excitement is building! Even the Hardwood Liquidators are returning. Noticed on their web page they are featuring Bellawood 🙂
::comes up for air::
Whew. It’s been really bad for me lately (not in life, just busy busy busy!).
But, I have to say, to all the Karith bashers out there, at first I was a little hesitant, but I really, really like her. I’ve spoken with her through emails, and I find her to be bright, funny, and very nice.
She even sent me one of her shows on CD and a really nice card, all autographed and everything.
Imus hired her because she’s smart and she’s funny, and he knows what he’s doing. As far as the perspective thing goes, I don’t think that’s the ONLY reason he hired her… despite the media trying to say “IMUS HIRED BLACK CHICK TO COVER HIS ASS.”
She’s not his policeman, and I enjoy her. It’s kind of odd to listen to old shows and NOT hear her or Tony now. Tony still has some growing room with me, but I like him.
And honestly, people – they don’t talk much at all. Neither do or did Bernie and Lou in recent times. When they were at the FAN studios, there was a LOT more interaction, but when he went to MSNBC studios, it dropped a decent amount.
Now bow your heads, ya heathen bastards, and let’s pray.
Hi Channel,
Yes that is what Imus was doing yesterday. Meeting with advertisers. However he used 15 Million that Fan lost. But what’s a few million dollars between stations?????
It is in my long 52 minute Yahoo Video presentation along with the “Talking all at once” segment.
You can skip all the interviews and get past Christopher Dodd to listen to it if you wish.
Might add it to the one I put together today since Karith did a repeat of her essay. Shorter and easier to do.
Fakeegan
By God I want to be your altar boy. I’ve been trying to “preach” that for months. Karith and Tony are NOT on that much! If you don’t like em, go to the bathroom or fix some breakfast and come back. SHEESH!!!
While I understood what Bruce was saying, I disagree with the two of you though. I’m not a fan of Karith’s essays either. I think if she was put in charge of “scum report”-type projects, she’d do a bit better. She just can’t seem to read her prepared material, and it makes for bad radio. I like HER…just so far don’t like her STUFF. She’s better in an ad-lib environment.
Predication: April will be a good month for Imus.
Looking for Arbitron ratings due around the 20th. “Imus Doubles Audience” will of course be the headline. Interesting to see what happens to WFAN in the AM drive time.
CBS CORP Q1 2008 CORP Earnings Conference April 29. WFAN revenue will be off substantially, possibly in the range of 40% or more.
Citadel earnings will be out in May. Most likely will provide early trends on Imus revenue, not a full picture. It was at the end of Q1 2008 when Imus’ advertising started to take off. Dramatic changes in sponsorship since Imus came back. Imus advertisers are returning. Imus is now reading spots live. He also has recorded spots for advertisers which are playing on other WABC programs.
Karith and Tony are armour, I don’t know why people can’t figure that out. They get it from both sides check out what “Stereohype” had to say about Karith. There is so much resentment. Tony is funny especially the Paul Harvey schtick. Karith’s on air “character” is starting to develope, she told Bernie this morning don’t go there…remember why she got fired from the View and Bernie suggested she ate one of Star Jones poptarts 🙂
I think it would be a kind gesture on the other networks part goodwill to mention the radiothon in May, CBS and MSNBC could report it like a news item. This is what really stuck in my craw last April, they couldn’t wait one more day and they didn’t care that we were all watching this callousness. They forgot all about perception to busy covering their collective behinds…caving into PC Police. These networks want to mend fences with the demographic they alienated…this would be one way to show they are not heartless. I wonder if Fox News will mention the annual Imus radiothon, when it gets closer to the event?
This is what Eric Deggans doesn’t get, many people were hurt by the firing of Imus last April…people had jobs at those networks, there was a children charities radiothon going on..revenue was lost..How Eric Deggans can say that by firing Imus they refreshed a tired old program and basically did him a favor by getting him fired is so out of touch with reality…well when you live in your own little bubble it is difficult to relate to other people’s real concerns. Imus is coming back I think that says something about the American Public we are always being underestimated.
The way it appears today is, that if you are a White Male in this country you are not allowed to speak about anything unless you clear it first with who “The PC Police” That isn’t Free Speech and it sure isn’t Freedom of Expression. NBC and MSNBC has had three white men apologize now Imus, Shuster and Leno…do they think no one is noticing? I can point to Lisa Lampenelli a woman comic making the same kind of jokes BET ,BRAVO and COMEDY CENTRAL. I know that Black and Hispanic comedians make jokes..heres the thing no one is complaining about them…Double Standard it appears to be all day long.
Excellent points you made Ree. Tony even talked about it today. Which will be up on YouTube later.
Great words Ree.
More Deegan Duplicity
Eric Deegan from comment 11 said;
Maybe its just me but I find the misuse of the AA metaphor to be offensive and degrading. Deegan is obviously free to offend and degrade whole classes of people while policing Imus’ satiric performances…
In a later comment Deegan acknowledges Imus’ race discussion with;
First Deegan says of the Imus race discussion; “…it is a bit disingenuous for Imus to do this kind of stuff now without owning up to his own racist past.” then he says ” i’m glad to see Don imus has decided to join us.” ! Deegan beats the Imus Race Drum every chance he gets, even in acknowledging Imus has a role in the race discussion.. How is it Eric can’t understand why O’Reilly would call him a race baiter?
ChannelXRFR,
While Deggans is taking Imus’s inventory, he is ignorning his own 🙂 I have gotten nothing out of reading Deggans on Race except to agree with Obama, that yelling our grievences at each other from our comfort zones doesn’t work gets people no where. Deggans comes off as jealous and resentful..remember what frec quoted : resentment is drinking poison and expecting someone else to die.
I have been thinking about the Imus radiothon you know that 77WABC has a widget for myspace I mean if you want this widget you can added it to your myspace page. I think it would be neat if they could come up with a widget for the Radiothon to promote the event. I don’t know if they have a Myspace page or Facebook for Imusonair this would be a great way to spread the word…and pick up new listeners. I know my daughter has a widget for Michelle Malkin on one of her myspace pages it works.
A myspace page as an add then with a widget you could click a link to take you to the online center for the radiothon. I have been thinking of what I could donate for the auction, do you have to be famous? Can anyone donate? I am ready to go through some jewerly boxes 🙂
wow, what a meltdown at Imus Truth! nothing but complaints, unbelievable to me.
Hey guys don’t worry bout Mr. Deggans. He loves the attention he’s getting from O’Reilly. Matter of fact, he loves attention WHEREVER he can get it. Look, he NEVER listened to the show and just jumped on the “bad Imus” bandwagon. He basically admitted that last year. Remember he also took several of Imus’ statements OUT OF CONTEXT—you know that thing that folks say we they are doing to Rev. Wright. He’s a hypocrite; he’ll never change. Plus, think about this—he’s the president of the NABJ monitoring committee. Do you ACTUALLY think that he would admit that he was wrong about Imus?
lindainbluebell — so true! What is wrong with that site??
I just don’t get it….Honestly.
Today Imus said he has twice the audience he had than ever…. (just prior to the Howard Kurtz interview).
To read some of the posts both here, but mostly other at another site…you wouldn’t know it.
This leaves me to the conclusion that there are many NEW Imus listeners out there than before…and the ones that post their dissatisfaction here, and the other site have been “Left Behind” in some way, form, or fashion. Imus evolved…and many posters here and there haven’t.
What is it about change that irks people so? We all miss our own “in our mind” good old days.
The “good old days”, hopefully are here now…and still ahead, and many of them are not (as of yet) becoming clear to us because of the continuous “mind set” of the “glory days” many have become acclimated to.
The continuous postings at “whack-job” sites (no matter HOW high profile) that you would not visit (even if you were paid to do so) to combat stupid blog articles still attacking Imus, is to me…fruitless, and just a remnant of the long held vengeance that needs to be soothed and healed.
The Iman won. We have him back. Are you happy? You damn well should be. It was a long hot summer of 2007 without him…and Imus is having fun doing what he is doing and those that caused his firing are now eating crow, and trying to beat a “new horse” that Imus is currently riding. Are they angry? Sure they are…and all they can do is scrutinize his every move and hope for another “gotcha” moment.
Please don’t give these “people of discourse and high mindedness” the time of day, the effort of your fingers, the waste of your time, your precious thoughts, or the wear and tear on your keyboards…
…you won’t change them, or their biased opinions…and they won’t change yours either.
…and that goes DOUBLE for the current state of our political Presidential mix going on. (LOL)
Choose that which you like, and that which brings you enjoyment…and others can have theirs. Imus no longer needs our support picking on miscreants that post their stupidity online. He is doing just fine.
The best way to support Imus? Listen to him (or watch) if you choose…and spread the word to others that are open to it. To do otherwise is like Don Quixote charging at his windmills…or just continuously bashing your own heads against a brick wall.
Have a great weekend all! 🙂
Imus Truth goes through waves it goes up and down and if you notice sometimes anonymous posters show up and tips the discussion in the negative.
I can relate to the feeling that the PC Police are Monitoring the program to what end? I mean who are they endearing themselves to each other? We have the FCC we have Free Speech and Freedom of Expression, I don’t need them to filter anything for me. It might help if they stop with the Apology option if people groups thought they could squeeze an apology everytime they thought they could get press what restraint would be stopping them? This is where the network comes in with a policy that protects their onair talent. NBC and MSNBC have set a precendent now, if we say something anyone finds they remotely object to, we will have our talent apologize…what a low water mark in broadcasting.
I think Imus is on a high wire 🙂 I don’t think citadel needs to be right on top of him. he is on a 21 hour delay after all.
Harley, Deggans is on a wheel like a hamster, does he know he can get off? His thinking is all circular it goes around and around but never gets anywhere.
DonaldInks,
My thoughts are turning to the Imus radiothon it would be great to get some “internet” attention for the event. How to spread the word…Internet presence is important for radio and tv programs…this would be a big event.
We always know we can count on Donald to be the voice of reason. Just one of our many well spoken opinion members.
Ree you are also. And so many others who know who they are.
What I cannot figure out in my wildest imagination why so many posters here and on other Imus sites are so dead against the new additons to the show and the format.
Prior to April 4, 2007 did we always sit glued to our TV sets or listen on the internet to Imus for 3 or 4 hours? I doubt it. 99 percent of everything he said was funny. Good mood bad mood. Whatever mood. And at some point we became use to his stuff and took for granted the I-Man would always be there if we needed a boost.
Then all Hell breaks lose and we lost the friend we have known for 10, 20 or 30 plus years.
But you see boys and girls Imus always has a plan. And what he did on April 4, 2007 was an eye opener to the whole Country. Yes you are right. We started talking about racism. What was allowed to be said by whom and to who they said it to.
We truly do not have freedom of speech. It depends on who’s speech we are talking about.
J. Donald Imus didn’t need this job. But he has an addictive personality. And he cannot and will not let anyone get in his way. He loves his job more than he ever did.
So in less than 8 LONG months we worked our butts off to get him back on the air, and now some of us don’t like what he is doing. We are not making 10 plus million dollars a year as he is. Nor do we have the backing of many fine people. Loyal people like he does.
We should continue to be his flock of loyal listeners and make observations, but do not put the man down for doing what he said he was going to do.
That is my positive rant for the night. Expect the show highlights later if I can stay awake. Haven’t slept since 10 AM yesterday. Boo Hoo I know. Well I too have an addictive personality. Though I am under a different sign of the Zodiac, my Birthday is only 3 days off from his minus 8 years.
So sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.
Deegan grudgingly acknowledges Imus has a place in the race discussion, that’s progress. Now if we could convince him to stop beating the Imus Race Drum every time some “racist remark” surfaces, that would be excellent.
Lately been interested in Debra J. Dickerson, reading her books, her Mother Jones blog, watched her on O’Reilly, with Katie Couric, and Blogingheads see comment #8. She is an intellectual voice.
Debra J.’s latest blog What If There’d Been Fox News or CNN During Slavery? provides an interesting discussion on the Rev Wright issue | Click Here
Nice to have you back Donald.
Channel, all:
Some of you have been almost my constant companions for almost a year now. The support imus website started out as a cry for freedom of speech for Imus and a protest of our loss of the IITM show and it is in that spirit that I write this.
I read the article you referred to by Debra Dickerson but it doesn’t take all that verbage for me to know what the Reverand Jeremiah Wright said was wrong, wrong not so much because he may believe it but wrong because he taught it to others no matter what is said about it. I don’t follow Oprah’s “religion” as outlined in The New Earth either which some have found to be life-changing.
And if Imus is the broadcasting genius I think he is, he knows this “new” show is not working. I never thought Imus needed to change himself or his show because if I had not thought him to be a good person, I would not have loved him and the program, not to leave out Bernie, Lou, and Charles in my affections. And I believe that still that they were always good and didn’t need some earth shattering road to Damascus conversion experience on life or race. And Deegans can say it until the end of time that Imus should “repent” of being a racist and I will never believe that is ever was or is now a racist.
So all of this — the new show and the lockstep approval of it with no room seemingly of a different opinion leaves me out of the equation. One year wasted.
Hey what’s that? A voice of reason pointing out the obvious?
Nice post Bella. Thanks.
I have to admit this site does seem like a little club for four or five people. Heck, you’d think they’d just pick up the phone and call each other.
I have a wonderful suggestion for Mr. Avatarless. Just ad RE after AVA and a D before less. And then you will have a perfect name.
avaRETARDLess!
Go away back to your spider hole. You irritate me and many others.
If you don’t have anything to offer stay over at the other site. We certainly do not need you here.
Bella you know we all love you when you appear here. But I disagree with your synopsis of the Imus show. You say he doesn’t have a good show. Guess you don’t know how Imus REALLY works his magic.
Sure we all believed there wasn’t anything wrong with the pre-April 2007 show. But we were biased.
Imus is ahead of the curve now. He has his footing and will go on atleast for the next almost 5 years. He may even stay longer “IF WE LET HIM”.
Get behind him. Revel in his success and admire his talent and all his loyal friends around him.
Every day it’s just “ONE MORE COW BABY”, just One More Cow.
Good Night Bella
Would someone forward this link to Alison over at Imus Truth who wishes to hear the Cardinal Egan from February 29, 2008. I am sure she would appreciate it.
It’s a long game bella…
Re: to post 38
Here ( below link) is what the Imus radiothon graphic/widget looks like. (Hey, I got the graphic off of this site from the radiothon post) If any of you have websites, it should be pretty easy to place in your website and link back to wabcradio ( or as Ree mentioned, the online center for the radiothon which I’m not sure re: that link yet –). I have the widget on my myspace page, but I have no idea how to link a graphic on myspace. It seems a little more complicated than regular website editors..?? If anybody knows how to link a graphic in myspace, please let me know… thanks…
Will there be a special radiothon page to link back to?.. or is wabcradio sufficient do you think?
Good idea, Ree, to spread this widget with link around the web.
More personal attacks from Bruce? Oh no say it’s not so. Please not that.
Bruce,
Thank you for the Youtube. Keith did get back to me later. I’ll watch them later today.
Alison
Is it just my imagination or has the censor from RFD gotten the happy finger again?
Personal attacks? Where did you get that from Mr. AvaRetardless.
Though not required it is nice to know who a person is talking to. But then again talking to a person like you is like talking to a rock so why bother wasting your precious time putting up an Avatar or make meaningful contributions to the site.
You will need all your energy to fend off the others who may have words for you. But then again they have much more important things to do than waste their time on nothing.
OK…You’re turn.
Keith,
Is there away for the Imus radiothon to be advertized on our personal myspace pages ect…if we had a widget we could add it to our pages, the idea being you click on the graphic it takes you to the online site for the Imus radiothon. Is this a possilbity? Online internet visablity like an Imusonair Myspace page and facebook page would drive internet traffic toward the Imus radiothon…you know how this works you have the Supportimus myspace page what do you think about the idea?
I know that Online Internet presences is important for Radio and TV programs especially if it is as easy as clicking on a graphic it could increase listening to the program streaming online.
77WABC has a widget for Myspace- where you can add it to your personal page… I know my daughter showed it to me 🙂
mntherbal,
I mentioned on Imus Truth if I were to write or email Patrick Gotsch…it would only be to comment on that mullet. Patrick it is 2008 even Billy Ray Cyrus has a new do!
College Girl is blogging about what happened last year this same time period “Hell Week” and she found a website where you can vote.
http://getoffmyphone.blogspot.com/2008/04/hell-week.html
Bella, bella, bella,
Just because a lot of us currently disagree with you doesn’t make you out of the equation. People don’t always agree.
As I said on the other site, even though I disagree with those of you who hate the Imus in the Morning program (not Imus himself..just the current show), I still respect your opinion and your right to voice it.
Heck, I hated Sid Rosenburg and have never seen any evidence that Deidre knows what she’s talkin about when it comes to her medical pronouncements, so it’s not like I’m always in lockstep with Imus either. 🙂
Chin up Bella. These are just websites…don’t let em ruin your day.
and really avatarless, why on EARTH would you thing being called a retard was a personal attack?? 😉
It’s not nice to say retarded ….”Kickin it old Skool” Then he whacks whoever said it….now that had to be politically incorrect..how did Jamie Kennedy get away with that.
Thanks DJ, but I have been busy eating “Energy Bars” as I have been advised to get my energy up as apparently an “imminent attack” is pending.
I must be prepared to defend myself from “internet typing”.
Bella, If your out of the equation, then so am I.
Although I believe the equation is calculus not arithmetic. The calculus provides a different solution depending on who you are and where you are at any one moment in time. The I-Nation is not of one mind on issues. That’s okay, in fact it is what makes this so interesting.
For me, I take the good and leave the worse…
ChanX
PS – Could craft an mathematical expression for the equation but will save that for another time over a glass of wine…
Check out my post about who I think this Imus generation is on Imus Truth I came of age during the 70s there were 76 million of us -teenagers who were used to doing whatever we wanted…the pc generation are the people who came of age in the 60s the baby boomers they are the ones imposing pc standards today….we are next Generation Imus – has a nice sound to it 🙂
For those that enjoy the highlights of Imus I work on in YouTube. Here is the latest from April 10, 2008. However it is mixed with a couple items that Channel was looking for.
hey ree,
i object! i am a baby boomer, hate the View and those of the pc ilk. but, i do like Hillary out of the 3 choices.
frec, keep your eye on the pale male/marie winn blogs – anytime now! it’ll be good for you to have a diversion at this time. so sorry for your friend’s loss.
Generation X: I was born in ’74!! Where does that place me in the I-Generation? 🙂
LindainBB:
Thanks for reminding me about Pale Male…I think I “placed a bet” on an April 12 hatch date…I will be so happy if that comes true! And happy anyway, no matter when the chicks arrive as long as they get here…life is fragile, but it always reaffirms itself. Thanks for your kind words…
Harley
this is your generation.

lindainbb,
Imus has one of the widest demographics, I think he took a big chunk out of mine – the kids that turned of age in the 70s…I don’t think it is a lock (so I shouldn’t stereotype) the generational trends but there is something to them. It has something to do with pre and post baby boomers- who lets face it is a huge segment of the population but they are not the only ones and they are retiring..we are coming up next the 70s kids, the teenagers who ruled a decade 🙂
Then the 80s kids remember them Neon colors in pink, green orange and yellow oh the 80s Culture Club -Boy George and MTV…Madonna -boy toy.
Ree
I remember the neon colors from the 50’s LOL.
My sister is older than me and she had a neon pink jacket that I loved so much that she saved money and bought me one and we would wear them together. I loved that jacket!!
Lindainbb,
Can you imagine when we all start coming of age – in charge, I mean right now the baby boomers are pretty much in charge George W Bush made mention of his and Bill Clintons age, he wasn’t such a Hick to mention Hillary’s age but it is 60, that is the Boomers…Marty Davis -Chickaboomer blogs for the Boomers. I came in on the tail end of the Boomers so I am technically a Boomer but I fit the “70s teenager’s Generation” demo more….I joke with Marty, I am a chickaboomette.
I think this is where some of the disconnect is coming when people are stating, I don’t like Karith’s comedy. Karith was probably targeting comedy for the people who came of age in the 60s the Boomers (The View Barbara Walters)…but Imus’s demo is more the next generation the 76 million teenagers that made up 40% of the population in the 70s. I don’t understand how come Les Moonves at CBS can’t figure it out? This is part of a huge demographic he lost last April putting and on cheap reality tv is not going to get us back…we like creative programing and it cost more. I don’t know if they are giving up on competing with the other network channels?
The View is not targeting my demo….to me they are all, I don’t know “Fluffy” I don’t take alot of time to critique them because I am just not interested in that superficial stuff. If Barbara Walters had two liberals and two conservatives both sides on and well spoken that might be interesting but she won’t it is day time tv and she isn’t targeting an audience interested in deep conversations.
The funniest part about Imus’s “70s Teenagers Demographic” Imus can’t remember the 70s- oh yeah Generation Imus 🙂

Trying to find the ratings one year later for MSNBC.
Ree, I’m definitely a boomer — Hillary’s age!…so I relate to her in that way very much so. Also, I lived in Arkansas during the years she was first lady. I just feel a connection…..can’t help myself.
The 70’s are much of a blur to me. I was working, on and off, having babies, changing diapers, but I do remember that my young, married, adult years came in right at the blooming of women’s right’s and I soaked it up. I broke the mold in my family. No more waiting on hubby hand and foot. He knew where the refrigerator was.I took care of the finances. My mom hardly knew what a checked looked like until she and my dad divorced after 25 years and she had to learn. Luckily, I had a husband that respected me and truly recognized that I was his equal. He has always believed in my dreams right along with me and has never put me down in front of others. My husband is 100 percent for Hillary Clinton. Instead of appreciating and respecting a strong woman, many men are scared, yes scared, and intimidated by her. Many women are scared of Hillary Clinton also.
We boomers grew up with a sense of “America is a great country.” We were close to the generation that fought in WW2. We were taught
a sense of duty and allegience to our President, not blind allegience, but absolute respect for the office. Those types of values are so ingrained in us. When I got in trouble at school, you could bet your damn dollar, I’d get it worse at home. Of course, a lot of us were hypocritical, and maybe we have retained that attitude. We want to say what we want at home, but we don’t want to hear it a lot over the airwaves. I don’t know how to have free speech though without just letting it all hang out. We all know how to turn the channel off if we don’t like what we are hearing.
As far as the View –I watch it some. I like the hot topics and then usually turn it off. People can say what they want about Elisabeth Hasselhoff, but that girl has guts. The panel has always been liberal loaded and she has stood her ground against them. Now that I’m for Hillary, I find myself not agreeing with Elisabeth as much but still I have a lot of respect for her courage. Joy Behar has been obnoxcious, hateful, and totally condscending toward George Bush and I really don’t have a lot of respect for Joy. My mom and dad taught me to respect the Presidency….I don’t relate to people who would just as soon spit on the president as look at him and on top of that, they glory in the fact.
Boomers rule the markets these days cause there are so many of us, and if we are going live to be 150 as Barbara Walters special implied, well I guess we’ll continue to be around to annoy!
HQ92— me too, also born in ’74.
responding to some previous comments, i actually think Imus has been pretty good with the obama comments– the whole “just words” riff was awesome, and friday’s little “it’s a white thing you just wouldn’t understand” was hilarious. all plus a good dose of turning the other cheek to bring the christian redemption piece that has run thru imus’ career arc full circle.
gotta say, i think he’s handling this hiwire act pretty close to perfect.
Keith. I would have to agree with you. Not all of this has to be easy, and things seem to be moving along…
I wish the show had some of the old energy but I see that coming along latelyl. Just wish Bernie had more of a part, but he has been more of a presence.
If you really listen to the show, not just part, you can see parts of the old format resuming, a little more each day.
If you listen on radio, which I do, in my car in the AM going to work, it makes a difference as opposed to TV
Yes a highwire – the show must go on, my favorite Three Dog Night song was Mama told me (not to come) this is The Show must go on…re the highwire act.
I for one love dick cavett always have and always will, the man is funny, witty and intelligent…and Michelle is wrong here mistype cast.

Keith, I loved “it’s a white thing you just wouldn’t understand” to Karith. Oh, that was good, strong, sort of a “back at you” but with finesse.
Imus dances so beautifully. He should be on Dancing With The Stars.

Unbelievable! But, Imus is the one that’s still being shunned and mistreated! How is this so?
Sort of funny, but I also enjoyed when the I-man was at the ranch in New Mexico, since that part of the set was the same. Plus, they handled the tech issue there much better than MSNBC ever did(no delay).
I received a mailing from CJ Foundation: “Thanks to Don Imus’ generosity the Radiothon will be broadcastfrom 77WABC between 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. You can watch Imus during the Radiothon on RFD TV.”
I hope the Radiothon will also be promoted during other time slots?
Don’t know why folks hate her so much:

Way back on the day after Christmas 2007 Donald printed the Words of this magnificent man and they apply today.
The Donald I talk of is Donald Inks. But the sound and music were from Sir Laurence Olivier from Dave Clark (Time) 1969.
Take 3:52 seconds of your time and listen carefully.
Bruce…
Thanks for reposting that link. As we slug through all the ugliness and viciousness that all Presidential campaigns bring out (and bring many Americans to the point of nausea… and trust me, it will get uglier)….
….it’s still a blessing that there are people that have the capacity and humanity left in them to relate to those words in your Youtube presentation.
Those words from that piece from Dave Clark’s “Time” really had a profound affect on my thinking. On who I was, where I am in the whole scheme of life eternal…and my relationship with my fellow mankind…no matter what color, country, or religion. We truly are as one on this planet as a people…as a sentient species. Hopefully…in my deepest yearnings, there are many more out there in this world that will come to dismiss deception and the crushing blows being delivered by the many Governments and their Leaders towards the simplest..the most needy…and the weakest.
One can always have hope…and do our own part in that respect. Every day…with everyone we meet…at work, on the road, within our own families…there is never a lesson we can’t learn…and maybe some we can give. It all begins from within each of us, our minds, and our thinking. I have posted before on the fact many times I personally questioned my first “instinctive thoughts, actions, and reactions.
When they are not true…or real…we all instinctively know it. Then, we must question our own self…and reconcile within.
Again, Thank You Bruce.
How about them Cubies. Gawd.
Wonder what ever happened to the folks in Harlem? Never hear anything about that at all nor can I find anything on the web?
Hey AVATARD, What are you talking about?
New Thread
That would be, AvaRetardless to you Brucie.
Thanks.
AvaLess, You might be on to something regarding the Boriken Center. Have not heard anything about it in months. However, the website is still active at http://boriken.org/
No Mr. Avatar. It is AVATARD. Got It? Now listen to Sir Laurence Olivier and speak clearly about what Channel spoke of instead of beating around the bush.
Stupid is as Stupid does.
